Incarn Clarion question

Ok so I see people using Ageless a lot. Or Barrier. but I hardly see Clarion. The secondary effects from the T4 Clarion Radial Epiphany seem like really nice boosts. Even says it boosts CC strength. Is It any better then the others or just "meh"?

Clarion boosts are only really really significant if you launch your powers within ... what. 5? 10? seconds after using it, on a 2 minute cooldown, while the rest of the time it's kind of OK. Outside of Blasters doing bomb clean-up in the Underground Incarnate Trial, there aren't a lot of situations where you really need that and you shouldn't have built for it. The strongest abusers of Clarion on a consistent basis have long duration buffs they can fire right after Clarion's been activated, like support sets with Time.

Barrier, on the other hand, gives a bottom-line 5% Def/Res at all times, which is a big deal for a lot of characters in the low 40s on a key defense, and Ageless of either flavor is fantastic for dealing with sets that have end problems you can't resolve any other way, or that dealing with would require a sacrifice you don't want to make.

I use Clarion Radial T4. I think its 80% boost lasts for 15 seconds, which is great for long click powers like Farsight. Only downside to Radial is the mez protection lasts only 90 seconds, so there is a 30 second gap that you are at risk for. So Clarion Core T4 gets more love for that reason.

I like Clarion Radial.  In addition to it's use as a break-free or preemptive mez protection you get AT LEAST a 10% boost for 90 seconds to defense, defense debuff, tohit, range, heal, endurance, and all your mezzes.  If you are already soft-capped at 45% defense it will kick your defense and all that other stuff into astronomical levels for 22 seconds -- long enough to run into a large mob and launch an AoE hold or Nuke.

 

When used in combination or alternating between Power Build Up, Power Boost, Domination, Hybrid Support or Control Core you can do some crazy stuff.
