Hey folks,

 

So I've been putting off planning out an IO build for my Tanker, but he's getting up into his 40s, time to quit stalling and get to it.  This is the first draft.  Anyone got any feedback?  If at all possible I'd like to keep the powers I've chosen, but slotting and sets are absolutely open to discuss.

You'll be capping out smash lethal endgame i'd drop tough and drop the energy line and grab the presence line leave out the SS taunt and grab the presence line taunt a fear because why not and summarily unrelenting...unrelenting and rage is straight up sexy if you ever plan to pvp need to grab Super speed and Super jump if not don't worry about it.

 

In all honesty at 50 you'd have to be nigh brain dead to not have an unkillable tanker with incarns..

 

I didn't bother with haymaker and punch i grabbed the first attack in fighting can't remember name and weave and then crosspunch its nice all procced out and the set bonuses can really help.

Tough is really only there for two reasons: 1) as a stepping stone to Weave, 2) to mule the second +3% Def IO.  I was never really intending to run it as a toggle.

 

I'll try and go over your other suggestions and see if anything works for what I'm doing.

One thought I had last night is, drop Punch, move most of its slots to Boxing, and put in Hand Clap using a KB>KD piece, to add more control/mitigation to the build.  Anyone have any experience with that?

I agree.  Tough is merely a mandatory power pick that's just there to mule.

OTOH, your pick of Unstoppable is a complete waste of a power pick.

 

Yank it out and toss a 2 slotted Hasten in there.

Also Punch <<< KICK!

Punch is going to be generally useless in single slot anyhow.
Kick, at least, you can toss in a proc that could, on occasion, bump your global Recharge for a short time.

Here's how I'd do almost the same thing.  Note that I'm not a big fan for Focused Accuracy.

Thanks for looking it over, Hyperstrike. A few points:

 

1) I'll respectfully disagree about Unstoppable.  It's edge-case-AF, but I have had situations where I was happy to have click-based resists and status protection.

 

2) Re: Punch, maybe I wasn't clear, I wasn't talking about leaving Punch in 1-slotted, but rather dropping it completely, using some of those slots to beef up Boxing, which currently is just an empty pick for pool entry.

 

I'll look over your build this weekend as opportunity permits.

1: If you've got something buzzsawing it's way through capped Defenses, you're screwed.  And maxed Resists aren't saving you.  Like death patches and Praetorian BaBs.

As I was saying, I'm not there for the resists, I'm there because I have occasionally found that status protection that is click-activated (and thus can't be detoggled) is a nice panic button to have.  You clearly don't, so we'll just disagree and move on.

Risk vs reward is way off on unstoppable vs what you can do with set bonuses even with status protection.  Most of the good resist sets come with that by default along with the defense/resist bonus and it layers for you accomplishing what you are looking for, vs a t9 insta death click when it drops.

 

I had your stance on unstoppable at one point also until I gave it a shot without it and bolstered set bonuses and was pleasantly surprised.

If you have the extra power slot, Unstoppable is not awful...you can use it when

  • your endurance is drained or keeps getting drained.
  • adding and extra +6% Psionic Resist IO
  • your teammate who's buffing shields or healing died and you need to cap your resistances.
  • nearing the end of an AV fight.
  • you don't have influence for IO sets
  • exemplaring

There are yet still better inexpensive alternatives to unstoppable that does all the above without the crash.

For a 40ish tank there might be some less expensive ways to go. If you're eyeballing end game soon and can afford it, the suggestions make sense.
