Farming on a Claws/Fire

kenlon

Recommended Posts

I have a tanker build I want to make. It will cost me several billion, from some back of the envelope calculations. Therefore, I have made a fire armor brute, but since I'm allergic to doing things in the proper, meta way, I made a Claws/Fire. 😄

As he has now hit 50, I'm looking at getting him basically kitted out for farming +4/x8 fire farms - he can do +1 or +2/x8 with his ghetto leveling build, but now I need to kit him out relatively cheaply for his job.

I came up with this build for now - the winter sets are the really expensive stuff in here, and I'll probably start with generic IOs in those powers to begin with, putting in the Winter ones as I raise the capital for them. I do have some of the IOs already - the defense uniques from Steadfast Protection and Gladiator's Armor, the Performance Shifter and Panacea Procs, and the Shield Wall +5% res, so I'm not starting from a purely common IO build.

I do have about 100M between my various characters that I can pool together to buy/craft IOs, also.

Please tell me how terrible this is and why should I feel bad about it:

the power selections themselves are fine (apart from no hasten) but it's not going to be much of a farmer without more global recharge for the aoes. i assume you're getting the rest of the way to the fire softcap with your alpha? shouldn't take too terribly long to raise money for some cheap sets to raise recharge (some more hp/regen wouldn't hurt either) that can be replaced with more expensive ones as you go. though once you get your global recharge up you'll find you don't need as many attacks as you have unless they're just being set mules. i'd link mine but it's both very expensive and not optimized for fire farming (or for anything really, i'd change a lot if i cared but it's easy mode as is and it mostly just marketeers rather than farm unless a friend needs a pl).

Also idk how you're going to manage to spend several billion on anything, much less a tanker.

Like I mentioned, this is just the initial build I'm aiming for to get basic competence at farming. I'm hoping to get some better builds out of people so I know what to aim for once I have actual cash to put into it. (Hence why I'm mostly using 50 common IOs rather than sets.)

OK i made a dedicated fire farm build. Should my influence printing with the market ever dry up I'll make this into a second build for my claws/fire. I used soul mastery just because i like the -to hit better than mu's secondary effect. Mu is slightly better dp/animation but you wanted pyre so i'm not helping specifically there anyway. Note you have to boost some LotGs to get to fire softcap with this one.

Yeah my current build has no problem with 325 on 4/8/bosses and it's only at 19%. I figured softcap would make it possible afk though, which i can only do 4/8/no or 2/8/with. TBH i don't get how some of these dedicated farm builds are still having to use lucks past 40 or so.

Just an observation you hardly need the softcap to  firefarm about 20% backed with maxed resistance is more than adequate.

True - I'm currently at around 20% fire def and I'm doing reasonably well at plowing through +3 at speed. (With my T3 alpha in, so it's only a +2 level gap.) Still, once I get enough cash to get all the winter enhancements I need to hit cap, I can set up macros/keybinds to combine all insps into reds and go to town.

Rather looking forward to that.

Cant imagine any build costing over a billion total.

Its not impossible at all, especially if choosing to buy each and every enhancer instead of getting recipes and  craft yourself etc.  Really depends on the build choices and more importantly the Market cost fluctuations.  I've seen some purples one day going for 19mil then the next day 30+mil.   Timing is everything cost wise and depends on ones patience too.

OK high end stuff has creeped up. 950 million (well 948 for the posted build, i switched rez for ss with a botz in case there was some fire attack with kb i wasn't aware of, plus ss is nice.) That's not counting the 62 boosters, or the 11 catalysts for ATOs which i had in my base, or prolly half the converters i used since I already had a bunch. Was forced into converting due to lack of a lot of the winter IOs for sale, but probably saved money that way since i bought the hold ones to convert. Ditto for brute ATOs not on sale (converted khelds). Bought quite a few sleep purples to convert just because prices on some of the damage ones were just silly. Not live silly, but silly enough it was worth doing another search and converting. I also went with recipe/crafting in several purple cases.

Still though, multiple billions sounds suspect. counting 200 converters (it wasn't that many but meh) and rounding up we'll call mine 1.1 billion. I can't imagine too many builds being much more expensive than the one above without just trying to use the most expensive thing per slot.

I would say the most expensive build I've put together, on a given day, was just around 900 million. That was an Ice/Mental/Ice Blaster with ATOs, Winter sets and Purples.

I am trying to remember back in the day.. did it really cost more than 2bil sometimes? I guess the market costs were much higher back then, but I also feel like drop rates for rate items are much higher than on live.

More than 2 bil? Glad armor 3% unique went for more than 2 billion on its own, even for a while after they became available with h/v merit grinding. Were it not for afk pvp farmers they'd have probably gone for 10.
