ccrob00 Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Hey everyone, I had taken a break from playing due to school starting up but decided to hop on and run a few taskforces. I never had a problem running the game in fullscreen but now it is telling me that there is a program error and will not function outside of windowed. The exact message that I receive whenever I try to change the resolution is: "Couldn't change to fullscreen. The graphic mode is not supported. Setting game to 800 x 600 windowed mode." Are there any steps I can take to fix this problem? I have searched on Reddit and the forums and haven't found anything talking about the problem. Thank you in advance!
JadeFalcon Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 I had this happen the other day, but it's easy to fix. 1. Open regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cryptic\COH 2. Right click the fullScreen entry and select Modify. Set it to a value of 1 (if it isn't already.) 3. Check the entries screenX= and screenY= and modify their values to the supported resolution you normally use. For example: screenX=1920 screenY=1080

Whenever I go through tequila and start CoH the game "program errors" again and reverts back to 800 x 600 windowed. Thank you!
Hyperstrike Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Strange question. Do you have screen magnification on? Or are you running a non-standard resolution? Also if you're on Windows 10, Go into your City of Heroes folder. Find Resurgence.exe Right-click and select PROPERTIES Go to the Compatibility Tab Click on Change high DPI settings Check the box in High DPI scaling override Set the drop-down to Application. See if that fixes it. If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!

See if that fixes it. I am running on a Windows 10 but I'm not 100% sure i'm running on screen magnifications. None of my settings were tampered with I had taken about 2 weeks off but before then the game could run fullscreen no problem. I download the patch yesterday and since then it's been like that. Sorry I am typing on mobile. thank you!
Hyperstrike Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 It's possible that you've got damaged files, including Tequila. I would rename your current folder. Download a fresh copy of the Tequila, and redownload. Giant pain in several sub-navel locations. But it's something that occasionally needs doing. If you want to be godlike, pick anything. If you want to be GOD, pick a TANK!
Astropuyo Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 This used to happen in CoH quite a bit on the early days. I usually reinstalled because it was in the launcher config something went awry. I'd just reinstall it takes like 20 minutes or you can try every trick in the book. Sometimes though admittedly it was my fault for having crappy out of date drivers. So maybe that.
WanderingAries Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 Would a Re-Validation not detect damaged files or just missing files?
