Adeon Hawkwood
So here is my first pass at a build for my AR/Dev Blaster (who's basically 1 bar short of 50). I'll probably tweak it a bit more but I'm reasonably happy with how it is now. I've got 35% ranged defense and 118% global recharge. No hasten as a personal preference but it would be pretty easy to make this a perma-haste build if you wanted to. I'm actually debating if I want to scale back the recharge a bit in favor of more ranged defense but need to mull over it (an easy change would be to replace the Apocalypse set in Slug with a Thunderstrike set). In practice I'll probably use attuned enhancements for any set that I'm not using enhancement boosters on but you can't really show that in Mids. As a related note, I'm mulling over the inclusion of the two global resist IOs in Maneuvers. It's not a major amount of resistance but still 8% resistance isn't insignificant for the cost of two slots. Any thoughts or suggestions? Adeon Hawkwood
So I decided to change things up a bit. This version of the build has more defense (44.6% ranged defense) at the cost of about 25% global recharge. Overall I think I prefer this version. The extra global recharge doesn't really make that much difference, even for full auto it's only about 1second difference on the recharge so I'd rather have the defense. I also rearranged things to have a range IO in both Buckshot and Flamethrower. It may seem like a small thing but the extra range does make it easier to get an entire group. One possible change I might end up making is replacing the blessing of the zephyr in Combat Jumping with the two Resist all IOs. For now though I think I'll stick with this. Adeon Hawkwood
So I figured I should add on a bit about Incarnate abilities. Alpha slot: I'm going to go with Intuition Radial. Now I know what you're thinking, why on earth would I want an alpha slot ability that primarily buffs Holds when I don't have any? Well I don't actually care about the primary enhancements, I'm looking at the secondary and tertiary enhancements. Intuition combines two enhancements I want: Range and Damage. Back on live my AR/Dev used Cardiac since I needed the help with Endurance and I found that the extra range helped a lot with Buckshot and Flamethrower. Now the Field Operative changes mean I don't really need the Endurance help but I still kind of want the range bonus and Intuition lets me combine Range and more Damage. It also has both To Hit Debuffs and Slows which are nice to have to have for Devices. Judgement: I'll go with Pyronic. I tend to pick this one based on what fits well theme wise and I think it comes down to Pyronic or Ion as the more thematic options here. I prefer pyronic since I can theme that as a high explosive grenade which fits better thematically than a lightning gun. Interface: Honestly the various DoTs are my go to here since the debuffs aren't great. Reactive and Preemptive both work well thematically for having bullets loaded with either phosphorus or a small EMP generator. I'm leaning towards Reactive since the secondary debuff is slightly more useful. Destiny: I like Rebirth here. There's an argument for Barrie or Clarion but I like having Rebirth for the emergency heal. Plus the long duration regen buff stacks well with Field Operative. Lore: This is another thematic choice so I'll go with Robotic Drones since they fit well with my character. Hybrid: I'm honestly not sure here. Assault is the obvious DPS choice. Control Radial is potentially useful for soloing. Support is a bit meh, in theory the stacking buffs are good but in practice large teams/leagues tend to toss out so many buffs that I'm not sure how much extra value it really adds. Defender Smash! plainguy
This is Nethergoats old build. I went with AR Traps Defender for my first toon to be able to defense cap easier and then work on being able to farm for IOs and Money for other toons. I am jealous that your 1 level away from 50. I am at lvl 28 with my defender atm. But again GREAT to see you back on the boards. I have been scouring the old boards via wayback machine to find old builds and toons of mine. But this will be my AR Device build. Its range capped of course. Again just seeing your name puts me back in time. plainguy
Oh nothing to say about the build.. Great numbers. range capped ( 44.6 but we know its 45). End rate is great.. So no Stamina issues. Recharge is great so double gun drone for 30 seconds. My only concerns are did Homecoming or is Homecoming going to make the changes to Stealth to field operative. I still use mids and Pine to compare numbers because some stuff in Pine isn't working or does not exist yet. Adeon Hawkwood
Yeah, it's definitely great to be back. Regarding changes to Field Operative, what changes are you talking about? As far as I can tell the stealth aspect is the same as it was on live, you don't quite have full stealth with it alone but stacking it with a Stealth IO makes you invisible to any NPCs except for those with perception buffs. plainguy
I'm looking at Pines Mid Hero builder and looking at in game and I can see field operative has a health and regen component added. So looking at Pines hero builder both recovery and regen are very high. In the past I needed Incarnate because the endurance drain was painful with the range cap build. Just wonder what other changes came with I25. I am looking around to see and I want to make sure Pines hero build is carrying the same numbers. Adeon Hawkwood
Ah, yeah that was the I24 Sustain changes. Basically all Blaster secondaries got updated to have one power which has a ton of recovery and either a regen buff, a heal over time or a refreshing absorb shield (this power also had it's endurance cost reduced to zero). The other majot Blaster change was to snipes. Now if you have a To Hit bonus of 22% or higher your snipe skips the interruptable portion of it's animation and has a much shorter cast time. They're going to change that in the Beta though, so it'll probably end up that snipes can always be fast-cast in combat and having extra To Hit gives them bonus damage. There are also some more Devices specific changes on the Beta server. Defender Smash!

Their average damage was lowered slightly but normalized (i.e., no more wild damage swings where one enemy could take 800 damage but another only 100; instead, every enemy takes about the same damage). This applies to all Blast sets (Blaster, Defender, Corruptor, and Sentinel alike), but thanks to Blasters' higher AT multipliers, it tends to help them the most. Gun Powder
This is an unfinished build I'm working on based on Adeon's work. I'm missing a lot due to my unfamiliarity with some of the sets, espeically when it comes to the Munitions set(I legit cannot find any posts with info about it outside of the Wiki). Any feedback or info would be welcome. I'm currently sitting at 38 in game and i've hit this weird place where i'm unable to progress because I don't have a path forward and am paralyzed by choice, so I figure'd I'd reach out, lol Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.962 http://www.cohplanner.com/ Click this DataLink to open the build! 34: Level 50 Natural Blaster Primary Power Set: Assault Rifle Secondary Power Set: Devices Power Pool: Speed Power Pool: Leaping Power Pool: Leadership Ancillary Pool: Munitions Mastery Hero Profile: Level 1: Burst (A) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage (3) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance (5) Thunderstrike - Damage/Recharge (9) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge (15) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance (19) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge Level 1: Web Grenade (A) EmptyLevel 2: Slug (A) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage (3) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance (5) Thunderstrike - Damage/Recharge (9) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Recharge (15) Thunderstrike - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance (19) Thunderstrike - Damage/Endurance/Recharge Level 4: Buckshot (A) Positron's Blast - Accuracy/Damage (7) Positron's Blast - Damage/Endurance (11) Positron's Blast - Damage/Recharge (23) Positron's Blast - Accuracy/Damage/Endurance (25) Positron's Blast - Chance of Damage(Energy) (27) Range IO Level 6: Hasten (A) Recharge Reduction IO (7) Recharge Reduction IO Level 8: M30 Grenade (A) Accuracy IO (27) Damage Increase IO (33) Damage Increase IO (37) Damage Increase IO (39) Recharge Reduction IO (39) Endurance Reduction IO Level 10: Targeting Drone (A) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff (11) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff/Endurance (31) Adjusted Targeting - To Hit Buff/Endurance/Recharge (43) Empty (46) Empty (48) Empty Level 12: Sniper Rifle (A) Sting of the Manticore - Accuracy/Damage (13) Sting of the Manticore - Damage/Endurance/Recharge (13) Sting of the Manticore - Damage/Endurance (17) Sting of the Manticore - Damage/Interrupt/Recharge (21) Sting of the Manticore - Chance of Damage(Toxic) Level 14: Super Speed (A) Blessing of the Zephyr - Run Speed, Jump, Flight Speed, Range (36) Blessing of the Zephyr - Knockback Reduction (4 points) Level 16: Smoke Grenade (A) Dampened Spirits - To Hit Debuff (17) Dampened Spirits - To Hit Debuff/Recharge/Endurance (31) Dampened Spirits - To Hit Debuff/Endurance Level 18: Caltrops (A) EmptyLevel 20: Field Operative (A) Endurance Modification IO (21) Endurance Modification IO (31) Healing IO (37) Numina's Convalesence - +Regeneration/+Recovery (39) Empty (40) Empty Level 22: Flamethrower (A) Accuracy IO (23) Damage Increase IO (25) Damage Increase IO (29) Damage Increase IO (29) Recharge Reduction IO (34) Endurance Reduction IO Level 24: Super Jump (A) EmptyLevel 26: Assault (A) Endurance Reduction IOLevel 28: Trip Mine (A) Accuracy IOLevel 30: Combat Jumping (A) Blessing of the Zephyr - Run Speed, Jump, Flight Speed, Range (36) Blessing of the Zephyr - Knockback Reduction (4 points) Level 32: Full Auto (A) Accuracy IO (33) Damage Increase IO (33) Damage Increase IO (34) Damage Increase IO (34) Recharge Reduction IO (37) Endurance Reduction IO Level 35: Body Armor (A) Empty (36) Empty (40) Empty (42) Empty Level 38: Gun Drone (A) Empty (40) Empty (42) Empty (43) Empty (45) Empty (45) Empty Level 41: Surveillance (A) Empty (42) Empty (43) Empty (46) Empty (48) Empty Level 44: LRM Rocket (A) Empty (45) Empty (46) Empty (50) Empty (50) Empty (50) Empty Level 47: Maneuvers (A) Empty (48) Empty Level 49: Vengeance (A) EmptyLevel 1: Brawl (A) EmptyLevel 1: Defiance Level 1: Prestige Power Dash (A) EmptyLevel 1: Prestige Power Slide (A) EmptyLevel 1: Prestige Power Quick (A) EmptyLevel 1: Prestige Power Rush (A) EmptyLevel 1: Prestige Power Surge (A) EmptyLevel 1: Sprint (A) EmptyLevel 2: Rest (A) EmptyLevel 4: Ninja Run Level 2: Swift (A) EmptyLevel 2: Health (A) Healing IOLevel 2: Hurdle (A) EmptyLevel 2: Stamina (A) Endurance Modification IO------------
Adeon Hawkwood
So unfortunately the reason you don't find much on Munitions Mastery is that it's pretty much the worst Blaster Epic pool so there aren't that many builds posted with it. Your pre-epic slotting looks fine for using generics. I would consider swapping the Endurance Reduction in Full Auto for a second recharge though. Yuo don't se it enough for endurance reduction to be a major concern. That being said if you are taking here's my clotting advice. First don't both slotting up Body Armor. The resistance bonus is to small to be worth enhancing, the only things worth slotting at the two +3% Defense enahncements from Steadfast Protection and Gladiators. Slotting Body Armor for resistance is actually less effective on a per-slot basis than just slotting the two global resistance IOs (Shield Wall and Reactive Defenses) into one of your defense powers. Surveillance is actually the one good power in Munitions Mastery. You mostly want to slot it for accuracy and recharge. None of the Defense Debuff sets are really worth slotting so you're better of Frankenslotting. For LRM you mostly want to copy the slotting of Full Auto. Defender Smash! Gun Powder
That would explain a lot. Sadly, I think it's the only power that fits the theme. There aren't many tech/natural choices. I may think about Mace mastery, but unsure. Also makes sense about FA. That's a good idea. :) To make sure I'm understanding how you suggest Body Armor two slotted Gladiator's Armor TP protection/3% def all Steadfast Protection Resistance/+Def 3% Most of the slotting I'm going to mimic what Adeon has. I may play with Smoke grenade and targeting drone a little more to get some of the set bonuses, though I'm not sure yet. Thank you for the feedback! Both Temporary Invulnerability and Force of Nature are very low impact graphics and Personally Force Field is thematically fitting for a gadgets based character. Straenge
I only had a few incarnate level 50+ chars and one of them on live was an AR/Fire/Mace. It was the only AR I got to Mastery and tried a couple but settled for Mace. Like you, mine was thematic and considered my options but was able to justify Mace Mastery (RP wise, it was just another of his inventions). The Web gave a bit more aoe control and the shield helped with defense and I even picked up and enjoyed the three spiderlings who did surprisingly well on both teams and solo considering their limited use. The Scorpion Shield also is a good place for another Luck of the Gambler.

BlackenBlue71
Going off what Adeon said, Munitions Mastery is something I'd only recommend if its the only Epic that fits your concept. Back when CoH was live, my Electric/Traps had it, and I only ever really used Surveillance and LRM Rocket much. CFR only when doing AVs. But I agree that the LRM Rocket should be slotted the same as Full Auto. One other bit of advice: If you take Trip Mine on ANY character, either slot it with 3 damage or 3 recharge, depending on how and how often you use it. Make sure each IO is either purely recharge, or combined with either accuracy or damage. (I wouldn't do more than 2 accuracy, but that's just me.) plainguy
Wanted to repost changes to the last build. I know Range says 37 but in game it is 45. Don't ask I have no clue. I will put a purple set in flamethrower eventually. Bonfire is pretty dam good as well. It does proc a lot. Did an ITF with a Kin and had 3 Gun Drones out at one time. Teammates where amazed as was I. | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1465;679;1358;HEX;| |78DA6594DB4E1351148667DAA9B585CA190A148156A0B67468D5C44BE39160C0107| |88066226369524BD30E895E798E6F200A026A542031DE78E03114F0CAF0009E506F| |C4C34D5DCCFFB7623A69FBEDF9F75E7BFD7BEDBD3B72E954F5F3C16BC714D577326| |3140AC913F26B9979F739C39ACE1B1965E771CB37C08EE498914D9913FAF142C198| |CE58C9B1F4858CD952EA1C9FCEE5A6F2963E684CA44CAB5037949D34F366D6D24B0| |DDFE8D454463F934E4D5AE96CCA6BBF8DE74C73A20A1D999D9E6ABB3D6C1A391953| |7F3A973E2F1DC64533396267B9EC173FBDF2ED514A4FD1A5CC0B129AE25804F73C0| |0F72E806D0FC1C023F0CAEED83B2A62EF81DE59B06B0E1CB84BCE803BB955C6AACC| |AB31AFB6F07FFE00F3EE67DE3E8113B19AF3053DBE02BDAF3976957CC935C906B81| |0A3B8DAA085DCD817D154F77B87AD356E82D745F5A8F0E7790AADFA31F904DCB744| |2E83B52B6058A2AAB8B6AA4D71EA973E45B3FBEA55D201366A609713BC2A513EFAF| |41DC57C4E3159032F4A8D5F1A1D9A1295B73AD6A08E35F073AD7ED6A28DB588B016| |1E99A701F3A80D5C6F82EB0D4A5F13FB9AA218DF4CDE14B4B0162D1F9CB6D6FD91F| |C04767D06435FC0DE2DB05FA25AE9B3953E13F419A2CF107DC6E833226867FDDADF| |088292E72D78608D5C2737C0C83BF086A083F5EB58C5DA62F2D6C9F93A67E96F0EE| |CBB4FCE930BE0C022A8495D82AC7DB00967F776F9DE145D3DFDC8D11B030FEAE400| |190723097049A60DD35FF896C33E1BCBA245395FF487C3DEDFFE6DF227F90B8CFD2| |6FF802B12ABD39F7E0867ED991CA038F732BE8171893530A095EFAC7CE451862B94| |51AD7C3715D556BAB5D2752D16B7BCD2644635861DFBBA5B0B43FBF64F53D5B3D2E| |893133584D3FB7DF7F81954265EE12352A1242A942315CAE10A65BB5912D0BDA7B6| |FCDF51FC0B1823EDBF| |-------------------------------------------------------------------| 1 Why Softcap is important: https://dechskaison.blogspot.com/2011/01/why-is-softcap-so-important.html Limits: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Limits Attack Mechanics: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Attack_Mechanics Semi & Petless Mastermind Builds: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/10994-petless-and-semi-petless-masterminds/
Ramaladni
So long as they won't extend [Full Auto] cone radius to 45° or lower [Flamethrower]'s animation time to 3sec, this powerset (combo) is all moot, being "lethal" (highly resisted by quite a few enemy castes). Your expensive purple set IOs are going to waste here and would be better off in a Fire/X/X build to be honest. just my 2 Inf =)
Ramaladni
Don't see anything here for Resistance de-buffs. How is this powerset (combination) not getting a revamp/overhaul? Or how about [Full Auto] getting some Bleed effect? DoT + DEF shredd + slow effect + chance for High MAG Fear, aka: "don't hurt me more please!" Or some stagger effect at the least (interrupt / cancel cue'd power use / KB 0.1 MAG, A.K.A. true knockback = push back) I got a lvl 50 AR/Devices and can't even begin to think about what to do about her now ... AR/Devices = please revamp

Your also talking to a guy who makes defense capped petless and semi petless masterminds. If you can solo 3/8 to 4/8 you already won COH. ambpup
Its is my old build back from Issue #19, which I had tons of fun with doing Terra Volta with. Pretty much I would trip mine the hell out of the reactor and let the rest of the team have their fun. l3m0nb3rr1
I know this is for an AR/Devices build but is there a way that someone can show me an adaption for Dual Pistols/ Devices ? i love the build and plugged it all in Pines but i am wondering if the IO sets would come out the same with the modifications or if i need to change some things, Ill attached what i made down below but i dont want to miss out on anything. Some people recommended using an AR build as a base to start that is why i am here Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build!
