  1. So, tooling around and looking at my next project I thought I would try to make a Dark/Atomic blaster and capitalize on the single target holds in each line. My plan was to put in one accuracy IO and then 5 slot procs into each and then use moonbeam (snipe) to round out the single target rotation. Below I will list the builds I came up with, If any of you would give me some tips for stream lining the builds that would be awesome. So I got to work in Mids and did okay, made three build choices. First build is with 44.6% melee and smashing and lethal at 49% defenses. I chose this one to actually make and it is working pretty nice in game. With this one, I stealth run into a patch of mobs, hit blackstar and then use above single target chain and finish of the LTs/bosses. For Abyssal Gaze I use the Noir animation as it is much faster, but it and Positron Cell proc very consistently and hit like a truck with the added benefit of the hold. This would still have basically the same play style, but as I am finding myself (especially solo) more at range help with, well, surviving at range. Blackstar takes care of surviving in melee so I am really thinking about moving to a ranged defense build. This build gives some extra utility with maintaining the single target focus. I can use Tentacles and torrent as cone To-hit debuffs. Lowering To-hit by 44% and torrent giving some mob positional utility. Also, gives me a decent PBAOE damage to chain with blackstar. I am thinking of switching to this build as I like the idea of the utility.   2. My Time/Fire defender caps the damage of his snipe with Farsight because of this and it is awesome!
  3. My DP/Nin that I started is actually working out real nice. He's 37 so far and I've put some money into him, 5 LoTGs, performance shifter and healing procs and I put two procs each in two of the single target powers with no in power recharge with three spotted thunderstrike. Performing quit well, liking a lot more than my Rad/Rad while he was leveling. Keeping fingers crossed that he stays this way once I approach 50 and beyond.
  4. This is a bit out of date. Things changed and streamlined, though I dont play him much any more. Got to playing my time/fire defender and he does everything this guy can plus supports a team, so I'll see what the changes happen but everytime a play my rad/rad or my lower sentinels they just feel lacking.
  5. Made a NRG/FF and plan on slotting for extra KB on all powers that have it. I will be strictly solo, but I have this vision on walking into an office mission and just sweeping all the mobs through the corridors not letting them get up. I'll see how it goes, just a distraction character but who knows....
  6. I have changed a lot from that first build. I reduced some defenses (removing slots, consolidating set bonuses) removed, kick, tough, and weave and added aim soul drain. My defences are still above soft cap, my damage increased, my recharge increased (still no purple or ATO enhancements) and the only thing I lost was 20 resists. With all my toggles on and power boosted farsight I am at 60 to all Def and now low 50s to S/L damage Res. My recharge is at 212. With soul drain I'm sitting at +150% to damage. I got T3 in my alpha slot agility this weekend as well, which made huge difference in endurance and recharge on top of the 212 global. I am not at home right now, butI can add another build later if you want to look.
  7. With all the deep thoughts on everything that needs fixing or the depravity between ATs. I think it comes down to Sentinel's need their own distinct thing or mechanic. Something that everyone can see an effect/affect for. I don't know if the revamp of the inherent will be enough. I think if there was some unique mechanic as well as the fix to the inherent, they would not need to adjust the numbers. I'd be happy if all they did to the inherent is decouple it from the T1 and T2, but I would still feel like the AT was missing something. Something like maybe group combos that the sentinel can set up to either ramp up damage or ramp up team resistance/defenses. Not even sure if CoH has the capability of something like group combos. Maybe the system tray for unique powers, like what happens with mystic flight teleport, but is triggered by the a sentinel being on the team. Giving a timed power to hit when triggered by sentinel that would do a big team based power. Crazy thoughts by a wishful gamer.
  8. Sentinels are my most made alts, however only have one at 50. He's good but still feels like something is missing, Rad/Rad, but still fun. I play my defender and dominator mostly. Still looking for the right combo for a sent too. My latest is Sho Gun, dual pistol/ ninjutsu. Like that he doesn't need a travel power has stealth and has active abilities. Tyng it together with ninja tools to complete the theme. I have never mad a ice blast anything, maybe I will make another alt ice/rad, because rad as a secondary I really like. Glad you are having fun and have found your Sentinel.
  9. Time really grabbed a hold of my interest after doing a bunch of forum lurking, so I made Time Torch and he has been very fun. I just hit 49 and plan to hit 50 very soon and will do a respec. Right now my build is close to the one I am posting below minus the ATOs and Purples. I also have Time Crawl and Time stop and no Distortion Field, but will spec out of the Crawl and Stop and take Distortion Field (proc'd out). So, I would love to hear some of your opinions on what I came up with... I do have Distortion Field 6 slotted completely with procs which I plan to start with, because I'm interested to test the effects of all those procs.   10. I play dark / savage and love it. I currently have standard IO sets, no purps or ATOs, but I am permadom and hasten. My defences S/L are close to cap, but not there yet. I dont die though.. I start fights with fearsome stare then feral strike(tp) then depending on spawn either Fury attack or my AoE stun. Then just use a combo of SThold and melee attacks, feral strike around battle field. I splash on the crows depending on where I am. AoE hold for emergencies. I'm at work so dont have build, but again basic. I didn't take the immobilizes. Mobs are either feared or stunned. Great solo and in teams.
  11. There are plenty of defense toggle powers they could pull from and adjust numbers... it's not like an armor has much visual effect.
  12. I would like to suggest having both a +res armor and a + def armor in the epic pools and patron powers. Make it where you can only choose one of the two and locks out the other. This would allow for more freedom of concept. I hate being shoe horned into ice or mace if I want +def armor. Please..... pretty please.....
  13. What's needed is a combat teleport to the teleport pool. Like combat jumping add small amount of defense (explained by you are phased or whatever) and make the range half of main teleport. Make it a targeted power like feral strike or shield bash or lightning rod, but with no damage. They are near instant.
  14. I was Dark Convoker, Siderous, Artica, and Wrathfire. Played from day one.
  15. Well if you compare the numbers off the assault sets to the sentinel blasts the numbers are really close.... My two Doms do as much or more damage than my Sentinels. 50 Dark/savage Dom, 50 Grav/eng Dom, 50 Rad/Rad sent, bunch of 25 to 35 sents all shapes and sizes.... As for AoE, sentinel AoE is lacking. Some do better than others. They all have a 47 base damage aoe at 50 and with high animation times... the cones very from 60ish to low 80 base at 50.. the only good one is the T9. Some like my Rad/rad have an extra pbaoe but it is mediocre at best and the T8 rad aoe is decent. Single target chains can be fast and decent but again other ATs do them the same or better and have other goodies. Sentinels can safely and consistently put out steady damage while feeling protected. They do have a fairly nice status effect on one of the mid attacks and at least on Rad have good secondary effects. I do a lot of -def which is nice and is why I always trigger my pbaoe dot. I really like the concept of the class but it does need something more...
  16. Gravity/dark. Love the damage output, singularity is a beast, wormhole tricks are a blast, all while debuffing mobs and buffing and healing mates. Solo is pretty fun too..
  17. I enjoy playing savage. I have a 50 dark/savage. I tend to open with a posses on an annoying mob type or on a buffer, if we have a good tank I then crow followed by fear, immediately use the TP strike to get in middle hit flurry then stun. Then either fly out of middle and crows again or just stay in the fray with the few mobs that are left. My umbra beast usually meets me in the middle doing pretty decent damage on the way. I am perma dom and hasten, no purples yet and my defenses aren't capped yet, though I am working on it. The play style is fun and fast. I don't use the hard controls unless the team gets into trouble. YMMV.
  18. I think another comparison that we can look at are Dominators. My two Dominators with permadom out damage my RAD/RAD sentinel, have status protection, have a pet, and provide support while doing it,. Built out, their defense isn't as high, but they don't have to have that defense because their main line provides safety. As long as I don't take the alpha, I don't die... Also, Dominators can either be ranged or melee which gives a lot of build diversity. My Doms are Grav/Eng ranged and Dark/savage melee. I think Sentinels need a good DPS buff, but also need a nitch of their own. I hope the revamped opportunity gives sentinels something unique.
