... that should be how GMs / Admins spawn into the game. :D

Costume Suggestion: More Animal Costume Pieces
PaxArcana replied to Leowyld's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Owl heads/faces would be cool. And here's a thing: how about helmets/masks that are obviously that, but also, stylized to look like various animal heads? "The Lone Wolf" might not BE a wolf/man hybrid, but he might wear a wolf-helmet and animated wolf-tail on his wolf-themed costume .... right? -
Not all Archetypes - and within Archetypes, not all Powerset combinations - can handle Orange and Yellow enemies without serious, serious difficulty. The entire philosophy of City of Heroes is that any Archetype, with any combination of powersets, shoudl be able to SOLO nearly every ordinary mission in the game. Yet here you are, arguing in favor of what would essentially be forced Teaming. On what ATs? With what powersets? At what levels? (Because what's Orange or Yellow to a L10 hero, is Purple to a L5 hero ... and King's Row is meant for L5s as much as L10s.) There is a world of difference soloing solid-yellow-and-orange missions as a Brute, Scrapper, or Tank, compared to a Corruptor or Controller. Maybe you missed that I've been regularly having issues, with a +0/x0 difficulty setting? It's not possible to lower it further, as far as I know.
-
Also it's important old-time players who prefer to level by doing missions, and storylines. "The old-fashioned way", if you will. In my case, it's because I want to enjoy the nostalgia of it all.
-
+1 - I like all parts of this idea. :)
-
Easier for Flight, not as easy for SJ or SS. And Teleport is it's own thing, that either you get later ('cause you pick up Hover to go with it), or it's fairly risky ('cause: gravity).

No worries, Justice, the bit about tactics was aimed more at a previous poster ... um, ::scrolls back:: Fista, who insists he got 6-8 characters through KR "with no problem", and suggests the problem is player tactics. (I have to wonder if he solo'd his way through it, though.)
-
You can’t exactly leave a mission and run away. Pax, have you tried adjusting your difficulty slider? You really shouldn’t be getting +3 mobs in a missionon standard difficulty ... and that's the thing, see: I've left it at teh default x0/+0 .... yet, I am seeing mobs that are 1 or 2 levels above the mission (and when I am occasionally 1 level below the mission, that's when I see +3's). The issue is definitely not tactics. It's balance. It's mobs showing up higher level than they should, and/or, missions being put in places that are much higher threat than the mission is supposed to send you against.

Wereowl9, it's not a matter of player skill. It's a matter of character level. If, at level 7 to 12, you're facing enemies who are +1, +2, even +3 to you, and you're not playing a Tank, a Brute, or a Scrapper .... your face has just been given a probably-nonoptional appointment with the floor. Whether it's your first character, or your fiftieth. Whether you've been playing the game for 5 hours, or 5,000.

Rokkeb, I actually encountered people in-game on WoW, who did in fact strenuously hold that anyone who liked any of the MoP content, and triply-especially anyone who ever played a Pandaren, was in fact dumb as a rock. Your post didn't look like a joke to me. Your post looked like you were one of those people. By the by, while I never took my Pandaren very far, I did really like the MoP content overall.

Myself, out-of-character: My own altitis. I haven't a single character over level 14 currently. :'( Small caves. Screws with my camera distance, really hard. Hate that. I'm sure more things will go back on that list, as I rediscover them ... In-character, it varies, and really has no impact on playing the game. :)

Any ease of use macros for Soul Extraction - pet release commands?
PaxArcana replied to SmalltalkJava's topic in Mastermind
I think you can't. At all. When dismissed, the pets may be there visually, but they are no longer targetable so they don't "exist" as something that can be used for Soul Extraction. Or Vengeance. Or any of those sorts of powers. -
City Of Heroes should never have one of these. Never. That would only exacerbate the problem. As well as dividing the playerbase even more than it already is (by the Blue/Red/Gold factional divide).
-
Well, yes. Now imagine if it was Bots/Gravity :D
-
+1 Even inside missions in KR, I'm having a seriously hard time facing mobs that are +2 and +3 to my poor Level 10 Corruptor.
-
Which can be done in two weeks, AFK, with a friend PLing you hard and fast. How many HOURS do you have invested in the game, both Live and Homecoming? :)

... "Powerset Salad" .... BAW HAW HAW, that's a great term! :D :D :D

Suggesters - Why The Standard Code Rant?
PaxArcana replied to _NOPE_'s topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I would say "yes" should lead to a box that says "Well, really it won't be (and here's why) ... with two lines: (a) "Understood", that leads up to the "daydreaming is fun" box (b) "No but really it IS easy", which leads to the actual Standard Code Rant box. :) -
I'm 48. City of Heroes (and in time, Villains) was my first. I played World of Warcraft briefly, back in Vanilla. Hit the wall where soloing was no longer possible, hated that, and walked way until the last few weeks before Wrath dropped. Played off-and-on through Warlords, when the "no flying anymore" nonsense-circus ticked me off enough to walk away forever. City of Heroes/Villains, meanwhile, was my go-to steady game, up until just before i14 (IIRC). Then, I had a .... problem ... with forum moderation that prompted me to walk away. (A moderator publicly leveled a personal attack at me - I remember other posters commenting on that in surprise - and when I filed a complaint, it was me who got the axe; the Community Manager at the time, LightHouse, decided that the best response was to comb through their database simply counting how many times my name showed up among the removed threads .... without any context. For those who weren't around back then, CoX used highly obsolescent forum software; removing an offending message ALSO removed any messages posted to the thread AFTER that one. So you could post something not-at-all-rule-breaking two or three pages after the "bad" post, and yours would get deleted too, right along with the offending post. He held THOSE against me, and gave me a one year ban ... despite not having actually broken a rule at the time. No-one higher up was willing to even look at the issue, so, I decided NCSoft wasn't getting any more money from me at that point.) Meanwhile, Champions Online was a thing, and during the open beta it was a glorious thing. I bought a Lifetime subscription, even! But, the Day One Patch happened, and flat-out ruined the game. :P Instant buyers remorse, yeah? Since then, I've dabbled in a few MMOs of one sort or another, trying to find one I could like long-term. Haven't found any, and recently had begun to feel especially nostalgic about CoX. So imagine my delight when I found out, it was back ...!

There are plenty of attacks that combo could choose from pool, epic, and p2w vendor. Eldryth, I'm going to guess you haven't played the game much, yet ...? You don't get APP or EPP attacks until you're 40th level. The stuff you buy from the P2W was only, ever, intended to help out at lower levels. You won't be able to slot them. That alone will render them functionally obsolete by the time you're 20, if not (much) sooner. And Pool power attacks? They can be slotted, sure, but their base values are laughable. Which would violate the foundational principle of City Of Heroes: Every archetype, every powerset combination, should be able to solo at a reasonable speed. Some are better at it than others, yes. But none of them are utter crap. Your idea would not adhere to that.

That actually sounds fun as hell if you can manage the endurance. Remember, things aren't free. Dude, once the pets are out and improved, they cost 0 endurance. Enter mission door, drop pets, improve pets, faceroll mission. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat. Seriously. That would be broken beyond belief. ... And, as I said, there's also the underpowered side of things. Someone who mistakenly takes a Defender primary and, I don't know, a Scrapper secondary. Sure, sure, you're a buffbot that can't be stopped. And you'll be using Brawl as your only attack straight through to 50 ...
-
See above. Also, though my mouth waters at the thought ... Masterminds, with Controller primaries as their secondary. Lock-and-burn with zero direct risk ... just, no. No. NO.
-
Against very specific enemy groups, yes. Against any and every enemy group in the entire game ... not so much. It's not just insanely OP stuff that would break this. It's also insanely UP stuff. Besides, "X is already overpowered, why can't I have something even MORE overpowered" is not a compelling argument. But, just for the sake of argument: Blaster ranged attack set, Brute or Scrapper version defense set, Brute inherent. You think Brutes are bad ion melee, just wait until they get all the delicious AoE and Ranged (and high damage multiplier) of Blaster primaries.
-
I very rarely do this, but ... /JRanger City Of Heroes/Villains just is not set up to allow anything like that. It's not balanced for it, and IMO it cannot be balanced for it. Sorry, man. But your hopes must inevitably be dashed, I'm afraid.
