These summon powers are no longer affected by recharge buffs or debuffs

Question - will something else go in the Command of the Mastermind ATO set, since these only go in pets and pets no longer take recharge buffs? Three pieces in that set have recharge in them.  (Acc/Dam/Rech, Damage/End/Rech, Rech/AOE def aura.)

You can already turn off Group Fly by talking with Null the Gull in Pocket D.

You *can,* but if more MMs take this power because pets aren't falling out of the air 50 feet away, I can see it being more of an issue with more people - both those who just don't want to be flying right then and those it explicitly disables powers or some aspect of them (think it does to Stalagmites, Electric armor's mez protection, etc.)  Which, sure, if you only have 1-2 characters, not as big a deal. Someone like me with over 100 alts? (Which is not unusual... or even the most,) it's an issue.

    Suggestions:

    1. Slash command to cut out having to travel and just *nullify* (heh) being affected by buffs, in case you're somewhere it's not really convenient to duck out for a couple minutes to run down and talk to the bird.  (MSR, task force, etc.)

    2. Make global "Do not let external movement buffs affect me" options.

  3. Added a link to altinvite in the SG entry in the HC Wiki.  (Also, be sure you're looking at the HC wiki, not the legacy Paragonwiki. PWiki is still good for most things, but it's aimed at preserving the state of things at sunset for live. Link is under "more" in the forum menu.)

What if, every pool had to be "Unlocked" by spending one power choice on it to get a useless, does-nothing-at-all / has-no-slots-to-fill, power; and you could unlock as many pools this was as you wanted?

    ... oooookay. No.

Also, what one person considers "useless" another can find quite handy.

Do you have any characters for whom you would give up an entire power choice if it got an additional pool opened?

    No.

For this in particular, when pointing to the Cottage Rule, where is the line drawn between small change and revamp?

Small change - adding the +recovery to a power for blasters.

Big change - turning the T1 blast into a mez protect toggle.

An existing power will not have its core functionality and purpose changed, though its strength may be altered and effects secondary to the power's true purpose may be added or removed.

so, going back to (say) a ST blast, it should remain a ST blast. It can get an effect added to it (or taken away,) have its range, recharge, damage, END cost, etc. changed, but it can't be something other than a blast.

  6. Just a little thing - I was on a topic (suggestions - whatever that thread about ice blast needing a snipe is called.) Glancing over here when work is slow. Checked, it showed "2 new replies." Clicked, the replies showed up. Than "x has replied." Click again. "Three new replies." .... Nothing new at that point, but it would not disappear until I left that thread (even with clicking the close "x" on the side.)

Not *major,* just pointing it out.

  7. Cottage rule.

The Cottage Rule is a rule of thumb for the developers, used when talking about altering an existing power.

The term was coined by Castle on the official forums around the time Defiance was altered (December 11, 2007) and discussed.

Castle's original post has been lost to forum purges[1], but the rule, in summary, is this:

An existing power will not have its core functionality and purpose changed, though its strength may be altered and effects secondary to the power's true purpose may be added or removed.

Note that while Castle's original post has been lost to forum purges, the text of that post has been saved in other threads[2]. According to the thread referenced above, the following is the relevant text from Castle's original post:

"Seriously, it *is* a good policy -- it provides structure within which to do things. Without structure, there's chaos. How would you like it if tomorrow you logged in and, say, Build Up now built a small cottage at your chosen location, instead of adding to your damage? It's a silly example, admittedly, but it's to prevent such wholesale changes from happening. I *could* overturn it, in specific cases, if it were truly needed, but in the case being discussed here, it is not truly needed. There are MANY options that have been discussed that do not involve changing the core use of the power."

NOTE: This rule does not apply to new powers still in beta testing. Beta testing can drastically change the way a new power functions.

how is impacting existing power sets beyond a minor tweak or repair acceptable?

Some sets are showing their age. Some weren't properly balanced or tweaked before sundown. Some were, or are, decidedly over or underpowered. Whatever's best for the health of the game is what should be done, regardless of how popular or unpopular it is. (See ED.)

Not bashing you, but just curious as with my blasters I rarely if ever treat snipes as "Snipes" given they are  used in combat so often. Do you not like them in principle, or just their slow versions?

... flip side of that, nine times out of ten I wish I *only* had the slow version....

Can we agree that ... in the case of Boxing / Kick maybe not having them as a mandatory pre-requisite for Tough / Weave (or maybe make that just choosing one of them fully buffs Cross Punc would be good for the game?

No.  Can't agree in the slightest.

Of all of what you listed, the only thing I can say "eh, yeah" is that jump kick needs help. *Maybe* flurry. Give them the "buff if there's another power in the pool" treatment. Or maybe if you take them both. And again with air superiority (which is honestly fine on its own.)

This has been my experience so far with Fold Space, but I was simply wondering is another players have been having this same issue. Don't get me wrong I still think it is a useful power, but I feel like something should be done when it comes to teleporting mobs that are already aggroed.

... say "Don't Fold Space mobs away from me, please." If it continues, note the player and don't team with them again.

  11. Eh. I prefer having both a single target and mass confuse. There are times I just want to confuse one thing and keep it along. And don't want to wait 'til 32 for that - it's too useful.

Also, meh on a pet. I like that Mind doesn't have one (or has a *lot,* depending on your POV.)

  12. Well, I had a character who should, frankly, have been using those colors anyway... All right, I had to tone her down a little. (And brighten her up, here and there.) Presenting one Faster Firefly. (Granted, when playing her and flying around, all you see is a fireball from the regular camera position, but ...)

For a while I was using an AMD Radeon RX 560 and I had nothing but problems with the AMD Radeon.

My main issue when I was running AMD was it looking ... a bit odd and jaggy. Most noticeable in Wentworth's. (That said, the main reason I'm running AMD now is Daz Studio and Iray.) I don't know if that's still an issue in game or not.

The Cryptominers using graphics cards are quite problematic for us gamers.

Though right now it's not even the cryptominers, though apparently ... Etherium? Some non-Bitcoin currency - is at the point where the graphics cards are helpful (and nVidia's putting aside some chips for "mining cards." Thanks.) Production in general is a problem right now - and not just for graphics cards. Even *automakers* are having to slow down production because they can't get silicon.

    @Chaos Ex Machina

RAM quantity: 4GB minimum, 8GB the current sweet spot, 16GB unneeded

I'd bump each of those up a tier. If someone offered me a 4 Gb system, it's either an old system or a Chromebook, I'd hope. I wouldn't go with less than 8, and would consider 16 where the standard should be.

That said, I've also got a 2014 Mac Mini with 4 Gb that's perfectly happy running the game (and you cannot upgrade the RAM on those.) I don't recall the settings - but it's running Big Sur and isn't on minimum - probably "upper midrange" at least. I just wouldn't have a lot else running on it. (Can't check the other settings as it's packed away in preparation for a move.)

Strength of will  is apparently from Siren's Call, so still acquirable.  Allegedly.

Via bounty, as I recall. Though kind of a pain unless people actually PVP there. Otherwise it's stand around and wait until the mobs decide "oh, we're supposed to have a battle, I suppose we should do that," win, find the next spot, do it again and don't leave the zone or do a mission.

Please all notice, my comment was firmly based on the saying "what is good for the goose, is good for the gander"

IF the goose and gander are equal. AI controlled mobs are not. Thus needing multiples of them, plus combinations and abilities players don't have access to, to make a player even slightly consider breaking a sweat.
