Majority are for some sort of option.

And McDonald's has sold "over 100 billion" burgers, that doesn't make them fine dining. Or even particularly good burgers.

"The majority" of players don't tend to interact with the forums. Of those that do, I do know of people who completely ignore suggestions - they'd rather just post about server events, art, that sort of thing. So honestly, saying "I see X many threads on this," probably with many of the same people in it, is not really a basis for saying "the majority" wants something.

Has anyone ever felt like Peacebringers are a burden to play because they feature Knockback in every single one of their attacks?

Nope. And I've played them since live, issue 3.

Has anyone ever felt the same way about Energy Blast toons?

    Nope.

Don't like KB, don't play a powerset that does KB. Issue solved. As far as "the melee team members," don't be an ass with your KB. You can direct it with your targeting and positioning. For ST? You knock it back, they don't have to chase it, you have to finish it. Bam, done.

How do you guys keep that kind of interest in this game? I struggle trying to stay interested in it. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I love the game but sometimes it just seems like it’s the same thing over and over and over again. And this is only while playing maybe 8 to 10 hours a week and that’s a good week.

I don't have powersets. Yes, the game plays differently with different powersets, even on the same AT, which helps - but I have characters. With different reactions, different paths, different partners on their way through the game... so. Lots of RP.

I'm intrigued by how many people monitor Inf.  I never would've thought of that one being popular.

Eh, it's mostly "useful at low levels, forgotten at higher" for me, since if I need to pick something up I don't want to go to the auction house or whatnot. Or if I suddenly can't craft any more, though that's also shown in the interface.

  5. Depends. (Lets you know when your character requires adult diapers.)

    Generally:

MaxHP (for... no real reason, honestly)

    Experience to next level

    Level Shift

    Influence

Some specific times for other characters:

Damage Bonus - on Brutes, SS characters (when it goes red for a Rage drop, next attack = Sands of Mu - unaffected by the crash) and Warshades. I'll sometimes throw this on Defenders, too.

When running the Mender Ramiel mission to talk with lady grey and run her mission, I may add Max End temporarily.

Anything else is completely character dependant - stealth, one or two DEF, "Last hit chance" if I'm curious, that sort of thing.

No: any character whose attacks involve a sword, a mace, a staff, a bow, or a gun is Technology origin.  All of them are using tools. and tools are technology.

If the sword or whatnot is the source of the ability, sure. If the person trains to be able to use weapons, they've likely got the skill to switch (or use none,) so no, not tech. Natural skill, the weapon's just an extension.

And what if the tool consists of chemicals? That's more science.

Or if the abilities *actually come  from* the sword or other item because it's enchanted? Then it's magic.

Alternates can be come up with for pretty much any of those.

The big argument comes when you start asking "but since we needed metallurgy and smithing to make the sword, doesn't that make that Broad Sword/Super Reflexes Scrapper a Technology-Origin character?"

Nope. And I'm not sure how that's even part of the argument.

If you fight crime by taking the bad guys, sticking them into a forge and turning them into things, then said smithing is part of your powerset.

If you're picking up a sword and using training and skill to fight with it, you could replace the sword with another - or a length of pole or hunk of wood, for that matter - it's natural. The sword itself is not the focus of the ability.

It's the same thing when I used to hear "We need alien origin!" on live. No, we don't. Alien is more like a nationality. If the alien's ability is what they all have, or would with the same training, then the alien's using natural abilities. If the alien's using a ray gun and andvanced suit, then it's technology, and so forth.

so there are 10 costume slots. i have unlocked 9 of them. i am lvl 50+35 veteran, and i have 2 more free tailor sessions, but no more unlocked slots, how do i unlock that last (10th) slot? i have done the tailor missions for the first 3 tailors, the only ones i know of. i don't understand how any of the other ones have unlocked quite honestly.  i just want to be able to use my free tailor session on the 10th slot but i don't know how to open it. can anyone tell me? thanks

and sorry if this is not the way to ask this question, but again i don't know how this works.

You have six by default - top row and one on the bottom. Those are the ones you're seeing.

    You have three missions (20, 30, 40.)

And you have one slot you can unlock by halloween salvage.

  9. Zone: Croatoa

    Contact: Kelly Nemmers

Mission: Combat Tuatha in Misty Wood

This mission has you defeating 10 Tuatha de Danaan in the Misty Wood. Now, Croatoa has an issue with some missions and "neighborhoods," but this one's normally not bad. I got the mission and started looking for Tuatha.

Attached a screenshot. I've been in this area, almost right on top of the MIsty Woods marker, not at the rather fuzzy edges that normally cause problem. I've probably defeated 15 or so Tuatha. Of them, two Champions (LT, out of 3) and one minion have counted. Initially I thought it was only counting the Champions, but that was not the case (it did not count at least one, defeated within a few yards of me.) It did count one minion, out of several groups in the area.

Not sure what's going on here, exactly. Again, I'm used to other Croatoa missions (such as the one where you defeat fir Bolg) being "iffy," since they tend to spawn near the border and you can't tell exactly where that border is for them to count, but here, again, I'm practically standing on the marker.

I'd logged out completely once I noticed this, then logged back in - no change.

It always baffled me that with both DFB and DiB they made the contacts for them Longbow and Arachnos, necessitating two versions of each, rather than choosing a neutral faction like Vanguard and just making them co-op. They're identical other than the NPCs and dialog.

Why? They're meant for starting or low level characters, before they'd have hit the tip system to change alignment, so they would naturally be in their "home" environment.

  11. Skulls are all over KR. Definitely by the hospital and police station, up near the warehouse (if you know where the... I think it's "Smokey" badge is, up there. Upper right.)

Vahz... I can picture the area (near the round storage tanks) but I can't think of where that area is on the map 😄

  12. I'm half thinking it's less "system requirements" (because, come on, I started playing on ... what, a pentium with a matrox mystique 440 or some such - could you imagine that trying to run the current game?) and more "game system ability." Which is in part what GI was getting at, I think.

Honestly, the current "costume rig" has a lot of limitations - we can't add things like thigh holsters, Liefield-ize our characters with bags and pouches everywhere, etc. because there's nowhere to *put* those options (and if there were, adding them... tends to break current costumes when you go to the tailor, at least from prior experience.)

Oh no I didn't mean to take them out of the AH, Sure you get that 10% transaction fee acting as an inf sink but even if your catalyzed winter O sells for 40 million that's still 4 million inf eaten in fees which is less than a fifth of what disappears when you buy a winter super pack (assuming you buy a seeded one and not one someone has listed).

Here's my thought on that, though - at least as far as drops. Yes, buying a pack sucks... what, 20-25m out of the in game economy (assuming seeded, yes.) I don't tend to buy those. 🙂

Whether through merits (the way I do now) or drops, though, more people would have access to them. Which means people would look at the AH and - aside from a couple - probably want to sell them for inf. Which would indirectly allow *more* inf to be taken out through those fees that otherwise wouldn't have been.

Which might be totally out there. *shrug* I buy the IOs at 100 merits (which... hami raids, is pretty common,) sell it on the AH and buy what I need. So that's INF that would not otherwise have been taken out via fee... while still making me perfectly happy with being able to pick other stuff up (with more fees.)

I keep thinking about a survey post to find out how many fully IOed-out level 50 characters per [unit time] people think is a reasonable number to be able to generate by their preferred playstyle.  I feel like it would need to be a survey with a very wide range of answers, but I have no idea what that range should be.   One per year?  Per month? Per week? Per day?

That would be.... I don't know. Honestly kind of a useless question, since there are so many variables. Not everyone cares to *be* "fully IOd out," so what would their answer be? And per year/month/etc? What about how much time they *have* to play? Number of alts, time in other things they enjoy doing (RP, base building, etc.)

And honestly, it affects nobody. If you have one character you play, it's going to be IO'd out just by things *dropping.* I have dedicated RP time, time on 50s doing 50-ish things, time leveling alts... yes, I think my couple of 50s (three, with a few in the 40s, at 100 characters) are "IO'd out," as much as I care to, but others would probably say I should spend a few hundred million INF to tweak this/that/the other. I don't care. *shrug* The number of IO'd alts you have, or anyone else has, doesn't affect me.

    So where's the "don't care" option? 🙂

The problem with coming up with an answer is where you say "team/solo".  For mainly soloing, I would not take Empathy at all.  Some of the best powers only affect others.   I have an empathy defender at 50 and he solos fine (albeit slowly), but I didn't make him FOR soloing.

The flip side of this is that at 10 you get dual builds opening up. And you can skip the "team only" powers and dip more into pools on a solo build.

  16. 7 hours ago, Doomguide2005 said:

? Did it (Empathy) get ported to corruptor and doesn't yet show on the HC Wiki?

Yes, Empathy corruptors are an option.

For my take - if you're teaming all the way up, go defender. You'll get the emp powers sooner and make more of an impact sooner.  If you're just getting rushed to end game... *shrug* whichever you prefer. I'd probably take a different blast set just to aid in debuffing.
