Awfully forward of you to treat people like peers... Not my boss and not my subordinate. How else should I treat others?
-
It was a question, something for the author to consider, not a demand or instruction. If I had meant it as a demand or instruction, I would not have opened with "maybe" and closed with a question mark. Edit again: And it was phrased as peer-to-peer, like my peers say to me and each other, and like I say to them at work. As opposed to how the thread title was phrased. So I have no clue what @Arc-Mage is talking about.
-
No, you're right. I checked on one of my MMs. On Live, I could make any human pets sleep with a sleep macro, now they just say the emote instead. Even went back to the wiki to make sure I was using the macro correctly, copied it directly from the wiki, and the pets just said em dance. I'm just saying that something broke in the game because it used to work.

Then something broke in the game, because that used to work.

No, the game does not track how much damage was mitigated by your damage resist or how much damage you would have taken had your defense not deflected it. Let alone how much was mitigated because Player A buffed Player B's resists and/or defense. Nor can it track how much damage was mitigated because the mob was held, stunned, slept, had its damage output reduced, or had its accuracy/ToHit reduced. Or track anything else that would be needed for a fair and unbiased presentation other than how much damage was dealt, how much damage was received, and how many defeats of self or targets. So the OP would render CoX like so many other games I've seen, both video game and table top, where players abandon teamwork to pick off the most damaged targets so they can get the credit for the kill even when it would be most helpful for the team to spread out their focus or actively support each other, the race to be the first to pop their nukes and hope it drops more targets than their teammates' nukes (which already happens, admittedly), and the abandonment of support powers/ATs in favor of raw damage more so than we already see in the game's current meta. All for being able to claim that (s)he got the most kills and/or did the most damage. More ATs would be flagged as "useless" like the author declared we already have for not being high damage dealers, leading to more players finding themselves excluded from game content unless the elitist uber damage players are magnanimous enough to let the "useless ATs tag along". @Razor Cure said CoX is not like WoW, but the game as it currently stands also does not lend itself to such behavior, whereas the OP would definitely make it possible. And as you have said, there are already players that either discriminate against certain AT builds (Energy Blast with its KB anyone?), gleefully point out how bad a <insert AT> player you are because you built your character not to peak efficiency/power in favor of theme or versatility, or even pass over your character for certain content for being the wrong AT. Or "useless AT" as the author so helpfully called them. (Edit: And it was always "added for fun" or sometimes for end of game bonuses. Funny then how much bickering and resentment it created among the players after introduction. Every time for every game I saw it added. It never mattered how small those bonuses were or if there were no bonuses at all and it was just bragging rights. It always led to toxic behavior and arguments.)

Just because others disagree does not make them not sensible. And saying "No one cares that much" flies in the face of the sheer amount of opposition this thread has seen.

I, too, considered this. I came to the conclusion that it can't be right because the 13375p34k is part of what makes freaks freaks. Don't you agree? Not really. Not when I take into consideration Freakshow like Ohmtown, Drek, the one Freak Tank in the Doc Buzzsaw mission that speaks more normally than the other two, the Freakshow standing at the sub in that one arc to send you to Port Oakes, the two Freakshow that act cordially to you for whatever reason in their respective missions and speak completely normal unlike the run of the mill Freakshow, and so forth.
-
Unless since they favor sneak attacks and ambushes as opposed to the "in your face, you're going to see it coming and there's nothing you can do about it" approach of the regular Freakshow, they also have a different form of speech to show they aren't your everyday Freakshow. (Edit: After all, the Freakshow are all about breaking norms. And this group of Freakshow are breaking the norm of the Freakshow with their preference for stealth and modified speech.)

My guess would be because PBs aren't meant to be Defenders and WSs aren't meant to be Controllers. They already function well as Blasters and even Tankers, especially while on a team. I've watched PBs go Dwarf form and save the team Tanker by tanking alongside him/her. I've watched PBs go Nova form and proceed to curb stomp spawns our small team was getting obliterated by because TFs didn't scale down for team size back then and half our team had just quit on us. And with the PB's seemingly constant KB effect, as long as the PB could keep the targets in a forward cone, there was no counter-attack from the mobs. So now you have a Blaster-Tanker-Controller, all wrapped up in a single AT. It was watching that mid-level 20 PB on our team that convinced me to try the AT in the first place. As I've said before, I don't like Kheldians because of what happened when I tried them back on Live. So I readily admit I have no stake in this discussion. However, I do want to say that making Kheldians into the everything AT seems a bit too far to me. Why play any other AT if this AT already is every AT? Especially if Voids no longer do untyped damage that obliterates low-level Kheldians. Y'all discuss this and figure it out, this is the only post I expect to make on this thread. (Though I also admit I had not intended to make any posts on this thread because as I said, I have no stake in it.) I just wanted to share that thought.

Maybe don't title your thread like you're the boss demanding a status update? And yes, several of those pieces have been requested. I'm in favor of getting access to rank and file mob costume pieces.

Can enemy created pesudo pets go away on casters death?
Rudra replied to kelika2's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Last I checked, the FFGs don't change sides after summoning. So if you confuse a Raider Engineer and then he summons the FFG, the FFG shields you for as long as it is not destroyed. It will not follow you though. And if you confuse the Raider Engineer after he summoned it, it still shields the other Sky Raiders. Like I pointed out in the quoted post, actual pets like Dr. Graves' undead, the Girlfriend from Hell's demons, the Drudge's Umbral Beasts, and so forth all de-spawn upon the summoning mob's defeat. Pseudo-pets like Phantasms, Dark Servants, Shades, Sky Raider Force Field Generators, Malta Auto Turrets, and so forth do not. -
Move Detective Selnum out of the police station
Rudra replied to Forsetti's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yeah, I'm pretty sure every accessible building interior in the game other than AE and the Grandville tower (at least the top area with the patrons/Recluse) is bigger on the inside than the outside. AE is different in that it is designed to be accessed on the zone base (surface) map, so when you enter it, you are not shifted to below the zone surface map where the Live devs had to fit the other interiors. -
You are misunderstanding what I am saying. When I RP, it is only with my friends, in team chat. Even if we are doing a mission. And our RP is never long post. My comments are about when my friends and I are on a team, and others not on our team that aren't even near us are doing long post, narrative storytelling RP in local chat. If it is a single group? The wall of text is slow in coming. Usually only a single post or two. When Pocket D is busy and we need to be in it for whatever reason, so there are multiple groups doing Narrative Storytelling RP in local chat? Our own comments in team chat, usually for in-Pocket D missions, are lost under a wall of multiple long post RP that requires us to page up through mounds of text to find what anyone said about the mission we are about to do. I don't care how long anyone's RP posts are, as long as they are done in their team chat or their super group chat. It is the players that absolutely insist on doing their long post narrative storytelling in local that I am worried about the OP exacerbating. Especially when sometimes it feels like multiple groups of narrative storytelling RP'ers seem to be in competition to see who can drown out the other group's RP the best.

Entirely too OP.

What about the badges those TFs already award? Or do they not count unless granting a free power to go with it?

Move Detective Selnum out of the police station
Rudra replied to Forsetti's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
You would have to make a new map. Edit: For clarification, all zone building interiors are already part of the zone map. You don't actually change zones when you enter/exit a building on any of the maps unless you are entering/exiting an instance. To the best of my knowledge what happens when you click a door in the zone is your character is teleported to another part of the zone map that is the building interior. Basically a sub-map of the zone typically located well below the surface of the zone map itself. It is still part of the zone map though. That is why entering/exiting a building in any zone does not change what papers/radios you have available, because you are still in the zone in question. Since the sub-map is physically separate from the main map for direct access though, to avoid the current teleport in/out of interiors, the map would have to be completely remade so that the interior map is actually in the building interior. And you would still need to use doors like in the Praetorian sewers otherwise the character would still need to be teleported coming and going. -
I don't see how that is symbolic. And as an accolade reward, I am of the opinion it is too high. Maybe if it was ACC rather than ToHit, but not as ToHit.

Here's something to consider. While you may find short posts more aggravating than long ones, for those trying to interact with their teammates/friends, at least if they are like me, it is far easier to sort up through several short posts than scale multiple long ones trying to find the comment I need to read in team chat. To each their own, but everything we do in the presence of others affects them whether we realize it or not. And most times I find myself in Pocket D, a zone I avoid these days except during the specific events or to fast-change my alignment, I find my chat window becomes a wall of text from individuals not anywhere near me because of the radius for local chat and the fact they prefer to RP in local chat instead of team chat or SG chat. That means that even though I am not doing anything with those individuals, I am still affected by them. Does it always happen? Not at all. It does happen though. And on multiple occasions, I've had to scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll through character limit posts before finally reaching my team mate's comment that briefly flashed across the chat window. Edit: To re-emphasize, to each their own. Have fun. If the devs want to increase the character limit per post? I don't care as long as it is not local, broadcast, or other general use chat channels. If they can differentiate the character limits between channels and not cause other problems in the game? Sure, go for it.

Escapist Badge Missions Available at Level 25 in Ouroboros
Rudra replied to Papias's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Those missions are available as early as level 20, but can be gained as late as level 50 if you find a way to avoid getting them until then. And Ouroboros tracks the missions/arcs for the latest they can be done. Which either fortunately or unfortunately is level 50. (Edit: Otherwise they would need to be level capped at level 25 and that would mean Praetorians going to First Ward and then Night Ward would be locked out of them except in Ouroboros. And Ouroboros cannot change your alignment to the best of my knowledge. Which means those Praetorians would not be able to team up with or do Primal Earth, red side or blue side, content.) -
I'm inclined to believe that is not the intent of the OP. And as @Captain Fabulous said, I'm pretty sure the game wouldn't allow that even with a pause command anyway.
-
That's a good point. I used to use "/em none" as part of my costume change emote string to clear out whatever emote I may already have active. So it would go "em none$$cce # emote". Back on Live, it worked well, but on HC that just made the costume change emote not work at all. While a pause command would be interesting, now I'm wondering if the proposed pause would have the same effect.

Making the "Weave" power more accessible
Rudra replied to Shiro-Nethermore's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I already see melees granting others invis'. I see it every time I play my Dark/Dark Scrapper. Because I don't chase the Holy Quad. (Yes, I use parts of the Holy Quad. Rather frequently. I take the Fighting pool on all my characters. Multiple characters include Boxing or Kick as part of their melee attack chain. I even have one character that has both Boxing and Kick, and will eventually get Cross Punch when I level high enough to fit it in. Several of my characters also take the Leadership pool. [Edit: Particularly, all of my MMs take the Leadership pool.]) However, the way I read the OP, it is about making it possible to keep chasing the Holy Quad while also not being constrained by chasing the Holy Quad. If players want to chase the Holy Quad? Be my guest. Play the game how you want. However, I am against making it even easier to optimize characters by enabling them to chase the Holy Quad while being able to only get those powers from it that directly benefits their play style without consequence or consideration for how much it further breaks down what game balance we have left. -
Making the "Weave" power more accessible
Rudra replied to Shiro-Nethermore's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It also makes those characters more powerful by being able to choose a different power that further bolsters their combat ability. Particularly in the case of melee ATs since they would now be free to use that spot for added defense, such as from the Concealment pool. That makes it power creep, not lateral expansion. And making the Fighting pool inherent would be even more power creep because now there is an entire pool players could choose from to replace the Fighting pool they were so adamant about taking before, further enabling more powerful characters. Without the game getting any more difficult to compensate for either result. Edit: Any time a change is made or would be made to free up power slots, that is power creep because it directly leads to more optimized builds in a game not designed for such optimized builds. Look at the calls for the Hard Mode content. Power creep built up to the point that playing at +4/x8 was no longer the accomplishments of uber-players, but is now the expectation for all characters. -
Making the "Weave" power more accessible
Rudra replied to Shiro-Nethermore's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Maybe this will help: Power Creep: A change to the game that causes the game to get easier or makes built characters more powerful without a corresponding increase in difficulty to compensate. Lateral Expansion: A change to the game that adds new options, such as a new power set, mission, or other content; that opens up new avenues of play without making the game easier or making built characters more powerful.
