I was VERY tempted to go Staff for Guarded Spin and the extra 13% Resist from a combo level 3 Sky Splitter. Buy I have like 5 Staffers already. Still, I may go ahead and make one anyway.

Ya, I have over 55% defense to s/l/f/c/e/ne/psi. It's awesome.

Electric melee is pretty good on a tank. Tanks can really leverage the AoE, so it seems like you're hitting everything near you. I can't remember if it's chain lightning or Jacob's ladder, but if you slot a proc in it, it has a chance to proc on everyone, which is nice. I put the winter set ,chance for hold, in it and it procs regularly.
Thunderstrike and lightning rod are great. The set just "feels" strong, and sounds great. The actual single target damage feels lackluster. But, you're taking down minions and leits in groups.
I'm enjoying my stone/spines. Actually farming with it. I think stone/ice would be nice too.

Just finished slotting my stone/spines last night . It is ABSURD! Didn't take granite (might rework it later to fit it in). As of now, I don't even see why I need granite. It's extremely tough as is.

Just as the title says...what Lore pets do you take and why?
I know it's stupid, but I like Storm Elementals because they're so pretty to look at. On my WP/Staff I took the robotic drones, but am thinking about switching over to Clockwork. I think the added damage, the -Def, plus the added Defense and heal would benefit my WP/Staff a bit more.
Just curious to know what, and WHY, you take the Lore Pets that you chose.
-
Same build I use on mine, except I took Hasten instead of Taunt, and took CJ/SJ instead of Hover/Fly. It's a sturdy build. Hope it at least gives you some ideas.

5 hr slog....fought through stuff though. Ripplesurge took half an hour before we figured out killing its pets was key or Midas had to go in the smelt pits.
Alot of -res in this one, seeing lvl 50+ goldbrickers in huge groups was crazy, i don't care what your build is your not surviving that alpha.
Of course our VG cranked it up and fumble f@cked our way through it lol.
So, every AT, and every team, will die at least once? I've been trying to build a tank to survive anything....and based on what you're saying, along with what I've heard from others, it's pretty much absurd to think a tank will survive.

I plugged the new numbers into mids and threw together a SA/MA build with 62% S/L, 61% E/N and 56% Psi def. It has 69% S/L, 83% F/C, 57% E/N and 90% Toxic resists. HP is capped with perma Earth's Embrace.
I apparently am not smart enough to "plug the new numbers into Mids". Maybe there will be an update for mids to include all the new changes from this new Issue/Page.
-
I'll go against the grain and say WP/Staff. Leveling is a joy and easy. Ultimately you can get extremely high rwgen numbers and max HP, never run out of end, and hit soft capped F/C/E/NE defenses with capped S/L resists. And if you use Sky Splitter with 3 stacks of perfection, that adds another 13% to your resists. Since it's easy to keep perma, coupled with the tanker ATO +RESIST, you can have respectable resists.
It's a great combo. Staff,IMO, is just a fun set. I could also see WP/DM being great as well.
-
Just curious if anyone has played around with Stone armor since the changes went live? Is the proc for Brimstone armor nice? And the big question, do you really need to take granite, or can you work and skip it and still be nigh indestructible?
What's your thoughts about it?
-
If I was building a WP/DM tank, I'm not sure if this is how I would build mine. 3089 HP and you regen 95.56 HP/Sec with just 1 enemy within RttC. With 2 Performance Shifter Procs in the build, along with the Panacea proc, backed up by Dark Consumption, endurance shouldn't be a problem. I didn't work Taunt into the build ( RttC has a taunt component to it), but was able to soft cap your F/C/E/N.E defenses. You should be able to double stack the MotT +resistance proc, which would get your S/L resistance to cap. Even if you couldn't, with just 1 stack you're at 87.91%, and by having that many HP, and regenerating that much per sec, it shouldn't be a problem at all. This should end up being kinda like the Energizer bunny....keep on going and going and...

Illusion/Dark is the reason it's the only troller I play. Nothing compares to it. Can solo AVs and GMs. I've taken down numerous GMs solo.

This. I believe this is the intent. Having to RELY on your team. I'm looking forward to that aspect.
Now, to figure out that best baseline to protect my team.

@Werner, I think a shield/MA tank would stand up pretty good.
I've heard that "hard mode" is designed to wreck defenses. If that's the case, maybe there needs to be a little focus on control? Or as much defense/resist/healing/regen? I guess the more layered you are the better your chances will be. With Incarnates, you can plug/top off just about anything you need.
Powersets like WM or EM might be better for the soft controls they offer? I love my Staffers, and that extra resistance that's available with sky splitter would be nice tho. I know....I'm rambling. Just bouncing a lot of thoughts and ideas around.
Then again, maybe hard mode is what we really need to really get back into building specific teams, and developing strategies. I do miss the old days where you had to think. Nowadays, any team with any makeup can pretty much steamroll through about everything.
A tank's tank...I dunno exactly what that would/will look like in hard mode.
-
I'm curious...when will Mids be updated to reflect the new powersets and changes?
-
Did you get the build I sent @damnimgood?

How is Mercs/Pain? I was thinking of that for a concept I came up.
I personally like it. All your pets stay at range, which means they're all within your healing aura, heals, buffs. Obviously with Mercs, it's gonna take longer to "arrest" baddies, but it's fun, and that's about all I care about. Side note....if you slot the Panacea : Chance for HP/End in Suppress Pain, ANY AND ALL ALLIES (including your pets) within its range, will benefit from it.

45% f/c/ne/e and 75% s/l res then pour everything into your regen. Lost all my old builds and can barely remember how i built my 5-6 wp scraps now or what server they were on but i did have a db/wp knocking about somewhere. As long as you remember its not a tank and plan to dps stuff you'll be fine......unless you just build it as a tank and realise the dps probably isn't that much different anymore. Tanks have it so good right now its hard to look at brute/scrap AT's and think they will be better.
So, you're saying it would be better as a tank?

Hey all
I normally play tanks, but wanted to give Scrappers a try. I've decided on DB/WP (mainly because I've not played DB since they first came out on Live). I decided on WP, because, well, I really like my WP tank.
I know I won't even come close to the regen I have on my WP. Since I'm coming from a tank, and built everything for as much max ho,regen, and defense as I could, how should I approach making a DB/WP scrap?
I played in mids, and got my defense to 45% to fcen, and can't remember what the max hp and regen was.
Should I not worry too much and try to slot attacks as much as I can and hope I arrest quicker then I faceplant? Or build on hp,regen, defenses and know that I (should) outlast everything?
Thanks

There's a good chart here: https://hcwiki.cityofheroes.dev/wiki/Dual_Blades
Or just skip the combos entirely. A lot of people run BF-AS-SS-AS as their single target attack chain. I'm very close to just BF-SS-AS-repeat.
Thanks for that link.
I wonder what the -to hit and -Def #s are from the combos?

When DB first came out on Live, I rolled one. Played a few levels, then quit. I'm wanting to play powersets that I never really played before, so I think I'm gonna roll another DB toon. Unsure if I wanna go with a Tank, Brute, or Scrapper. Anyway, here's my question....
I see that you have to take most of all the attacks because this one begins one combo, this other attack is needed for that combo, and this power is the finishing move needed for yet another combo. What exactly are these combos, their benefits, and do I have to take all these attacks and attack in a certain order?
And lastly, should I make it a Tank, Brute, or Scrapper?
Appreciate it!
