What I mean by "weird" is that it seems to not have any effect for up to 15-17 minutes, depending on where you are in the server update cycle when you execute the command. Anybody else seeing this? From the patch notes regarding the changes to the Personal Info window: Also, just some... ummm... suggestions? Criticisms? Not sure what to call it... Option "0" that sets the badge icon to whichever badge is clicked on or selected in the Badge Window is kinda... contrary to the idea of slash commands as being a way to avoid interacting with the UI and using the mouse to point and click. If you have to open up the badge window, and then use the mouse to select a badge, why use this command at all? Your hand is already on the mouse and you've already opened up the badge window, why not just click on the Pin Badge button and be done with it? In other words, it's hard to me to see why this option even exists? It would be way better for this slash command to select the badge icon by typing the Badge Title ID like /set_title does. Option "1" to "always use the origin art" doesn't prevent selecting a badge icon in the badge window. So is this option meant to prevent the badge icon from showing up when the badge TITLE is selected or something? Option "2" to remove the art entirely doesn't remove the art entirely. Instead, it defaults to the Origin art. So... just remove the selected badge pin, if any, correct? To @Cobalt Arachne, I'm assuming you created this command, but if not please forward it to whoever did, because I just want to apologize for not participating much in the Betas. I realize that these comments would have been better to have been posted there instead of after the fact, but I just don't have a ton of time to scour the forums. Maybe one of these days I will. Sorry. But if you do want me to test any new slash command before the patch goes live, just send me a PM and I'll get around to it a lot sooner.

Geodesic bubbles causing vertigo and nausea
BlackSpectre replied to Captain Valiant's topic in Help & Support
Well, more customization is always a good thing. Being able to select minimal effects for this power in the costume creator is a great idea, but this would not help players who come into contact with other players with this power. That said, reducing the shader quality shouldn’t have a huge impact, some yes, but the game should still be enjoyable. I’ve heard this complaint a few times already, FYI. Not sure if this would help, but I think there’s a setting in Options that will suppress FX when you get close to someone. Never tried it though. -
Need some quick advice on wiki article
BlackSpectre replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
Illustrations and pictures, huh? Case studies? Hmmmm. I figured people could just click on the specific slash command link to see case studies. The /conprint page has a ton of them. So does /Petsay and the Chat Bubble Customization page has a ton too. It feels like adding more would just be duplicating what's already there. Maybe just linking the pages would be good enough? Ponder... ponder... I guess I could add a couple pictures to make the page look prettier... maybe a pick of a character's chat bubble over their heads? Maybe a pick of the window UI as the color purple or something? The article is really only about which color names can be used in the game. Can the name "DarkBrown" be used? Nope. What about "SaddleBrown"? Yep! Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it, and I will ponder them... 🙂 -
Need some quick advice on wiki article
BlackSpectre replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
You're absolutely right, Snarky. And that is why I avoided a discussion about the game's color in general and stuck to using color in slash commands. That's a whole can of worms I did NOT want to open! 🙂 -
If you're willing to give it, I could use your opinion of the page on named colors that I'm writing up. It started off with a huge amount of information about HTML and CSS colors, how each color notation worked, RGB color models, etc. But after looking it over I deleted most of it. I figure that if people want to know more about it, they can google it on their own, and besides most people seem to only want the info they need to make something work. So what do you think? Is there anything I should remove, reword, or add to the page? https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/User:BlackSpectre/Testthis4 -Black

If a new DFB/DIB trial was added…
BlackSpectre replied to Sakura Tenshi's topic in General Discussion
I would make it an obstacle course for the purpose of training supers. It could easily be a virtual reality thing like the X-man training room (basically an AE mission I guess), and would allow for a whole bunch of really cool things to struggle through. -
The Tequila launcher was originally built for the i25 Score server, and Homecoming used it for a few years. It's been depreciated and replaced by the Homecoming Launcher. Tequila will still kind of work at Homecoming, but, if I remember correctly, it is a huge hassle to use because it no longer updates the manifest number that allows both client and server to match and function together. It might still be downloadable as part of the I25 COH Client and Server package over at Ourodev.com https://wiki.ourodev.com/I25_CoH_Client_and_Server Interestingly, I just noticed that Ourodev now has their own Sunrise Launcher https://wiki.ourodev.com/Sunrise_Launcher Pretty cool.

What is the significance of the "Slap" action?
BlackSpectre replied to Palehood's topic in General Discussion
As far as what a slap means... it means they like you! Take it as a compliment and slap ''em back! If you like, think of it as a high five! Heck, if you have a choice of interpretation, why not choose the interpretation that is the most positive and make you feel the best? Even if it's not true, who cares? It's not like you're ever going to find out what they mean, or tell you. So be happy! -
What is the significance of the "Slap" action?
BlackSpectre replied to Palehood's topic in General Discussion
I loved both /e slap and /e smack when it was first released. I was able to do 3 Stooges routines with my friends and it was super fun! We had a blast just slapping each other silly when as a greeting! Then someone complained that it bothered their widdle feelings and the devs nerfed it by slowing down the animations. That killed the 3 Stooges routine. Made the whole emote not fun anymore. Way to go complainers! Thanks a lot! 😞 After that, when we greeted each other we just said, "Hey." pause. "Hey" back. Then stood around bored waiting for the mission to start. So sad. I miss the fast slaps. -
Conversion of salvage to Empyrian merits
BlackSpectre replied to MsSmart's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
15-30 minutes in a fire farm is all you need to get enough iXP to unlock all but one incarnate power slot. The rest comes in the course of running BAFs or other incarnate trials. My pattern is to run 3 BAFs, then 25 min of fire farming, then back to BAFs. By the time I'm ready to slot Hybrid, it's already unlocked from doing subsequent BAFs. Don't forget to convert all your Astral Merits to Empyrean Merits over at Luna the juggling lady. -

https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Invention_Origin_Enhancements#Procs As far as I know there are no recent changes to procs. Make sure that you're looking at one of three channels: System, Combat, and Reward. Just in case the proc will so up in one of those when it activates.

Conversion of salvage to Empyrian merits
BlackSpectre replied to MsSmart's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I just want something worthwhile to spend left over threads on. Don't really care what it is... conversions or items doesn't matter as long as it's better than super inspriations. OH, and would like a revamp of the mission architect ticket store so that there are worthwhile things to buy there with threads as well. -
Lost in the Middle: An AI Problem for Story Canon (Solved?)
BlackSpectre replied to Andreah's topic in General Discussion
Wow! That seems like a lot of work you did! And all for the love of your character. Very cool! I can’t say I have any use for the techniques you’ve shared, but if I ever do, now I know where to go to first. I’m glad you documented this and thanks for sharing! -
Any other tabs in the chat that I need to add?
BlackSpectre replied to Palehood's topic in Help & Support
Ah, cool. Coincidentally, that was going to be my next suggestion. Glad you figured it out. LOL for more information about the chat window and how to do things look at this https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Chat_Window Also, since you’re new to the game, here’s a copy of the original game manual that you might find helpful https://homecoming.wiki/w/images/8/80/CoH_Manual_2004-2009.pdf -
I'm working on a wiki article on in-game colors and did a comparison between the colors and hex codes listed in the file named "smf_util.c" and the standard named CSS colors. I found a few discrepancies. 2 colors have typos in their hex color codes and therefore will not display correctly: PaleVioletRed d87093 -- should be DB7093 MediumPurple 9370d8 -- should be 9370DB All of the various gray color shades use the American spelling "gray" in-game except for "LightGrey"... which is just odd. FYI, CSS uses both spellings: "gray" and the British "grey", even though they have the same RGB hex codes. The game is missing the CSS color "rebeccapurple 663399". This is to be expected as the color name was added to CSS in 2014, 2 years after the retail version of COH was shut down. Just to document it, the game also has defined several named colors that are NOT part of CSS. It's a good thing to have more colors (as long as you know about them). Feldspar d19275 LightSlateBlue 8470ff Villagon fca91a VioletRed d02090 InfoBlue aadeff ArchitectTitle bff897 Architect a2e7ee ArchitectDark 5db6b4 ArchitectError ff9501 ArchitectErrorLit ffff88 I hope this is useful info. Have a great day!

Super speed disables all powers that act outside myself
BlackSpectre replied to BlackSpectre's topic in Bug Reports
OK. I've had a chance to test it out a few more times, and unfortunately it's one of those nasty intermittent problems. Sometimes it happens, most of the times it doesn't. It seems to occur most during the prisoner escape phase, but it also happed once while fighting the 2 AVs. I entered the BAF with super speed and prestige power slide active. During the prisoner escape phase no external power will work, including location based powers such as Ice Storm. My character is an ice/ice/ice blaster on hero side named Freon on Excelsior. Suddenly my attack powers no longer work. I turn off Super Speed and they suddenly start working right away. I have no idea why. So... I have no idea why this happens, and I doubt it will be easy to figure out. Just know something weird is going on. I'm just thankful it's doesn't happen often. -
Any other tabs in the chat that I need to add?

Any other tabs in the chat that I need to add?
BlackSpectre replied to Palehood's topic in Help & Support
That box with “Team” in it is called the Chat Line, command line, or at bare minimum the input box. At the top of the chat line are very small, individual letters. Each letter corresponds to a different chat channel. Click on a letter to select the desired chat channel you wish to send a message to. The chat channel that you have currently selected will appear in the chat line box. So in my pic above, the “Team” chat channel is selected. I misspoke about the chat tabs. All tabs regardless of which field they are in will select a chat channel and allow you to send a message to that channel. Can you tell me which chat channel you were attempting to send a message to and what tab you had selected when you tried to send that message? -
Any other tabs in the chat that I need to add?
BlackSpectre replied to Palehood's topic in Help & Support
The chat window has 2 fields or boxes, both of which can contain tabs. The top field is only to VIEW messages from various chat channels (Global, Combat, etc). The bottom field can be used to both VIEW and SEND messages to whichever chat channel or tab is selected (Chat, etc). For more info, see https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Chat_Window -
OK, so you want to change your costume and change the colors of messages you send when pressing ENTER to access chat (with the cursor already at the end of the line), correct? Normally, the /beginchat command would be the goto command for this, but unfortunately the command doesn't appear to like the HTML tags < >. If those are anywhere in the message string, the cursor will not appear at the end of the string. It's obviously a bug. So the best workaround is to set the chat bubble colors using the /optionSet command as @Captain Fabulous brilliantly recommended. /bind SHIFT+J "optionset ChatBubbleColor1 0$$optionset ChatBubbleColor2 -1$$cc 0" /bind SHIFT+K "optionset ChatBubbleColor1 -16777216$$optionset ChatBubbleColor2 0$$cc 1" When SHIFT+J is pressed the text color will be set to black, the background set to white, and costume 0 will be activated When SHIFT+K is pressed the text color will be set to red, the background to black, and costume 1 will be activated. Personally, I'd turn these binds into macro buttons instead so it's easier to remember which costume is which, like so: /Macro "CC0" "optionset ChatBubbleColor1 0$$optionset ChatBubbleColor2 -1$$cc 0" /macro "CC1" "optionset ChatBubbleColor1 -16777216$$optionset ChatBubbleColor2 0$$cc 1" I'm going to add this info to the chat bubble customization page and add sample s2c color codes as well (give me a day or so). https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Chat_Bubble_Customization In the meantime, you can find your own Signed 2's Complement (s2c) color codes by using this web page https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/hex-to-decimal.html?x=FFFFFFFF . When using this page, the alpha or transparency setting "FF" needs to be included at the end, so the hex code will be 8 characters instead of 6. For example the hex code for red would be FF0000FF.

Any other tabs in the chat that I need to add?
BlackSpectre replied to Palehood's topic in Help & Support
What chat tabs you use is pretty much determined by what messages you want to see for your purposes. For example, if you were testing out damage powers you’d probably want a tab that has “combat” and “system” in it. Because of the amount of testing I do, I have a tab with just “system” in it. i also have a tab just for NPC dialogue (I often miss what the NPCs are saying, so a tab to quickly check that has been useful). I have added almost all the chat channels except “combat” to my Global tab. On the bottom chat window I have 3 tabs: Chat, Mission Architect, and Arena. Mission Architect and Arena are the only server-wide chat channels that aren’t on the bottom bar or included in any other chat tab. I also added these channels to my Chat tab. -
Honestly, I didn't even participate in this year's Halloween event. Been there, Done that. So it's not killing the game for me... But a lot of people do like to join in the festivities, since it's a special time/event anyway. It makes sense that players running through missions or farming would take a back seat for the span of the event. That's really the whole point of them. It's an event. Here and gone. Now, if AFTER an event, player participation in the game sharply declined... then that would be telling, but it would depend on how long that decline lasted. Many players go all out during events, running them every day for hours... but the end they could be exhausted and decide to take a break from the game for a couple of weeks...

Good question. My guess is that each hit from a combo power afflicts a 5 second debuff for Weaken. https://cod.cohcb.com/html/powerset.html?pset=tanker_melee.dual_blades So to activate the Weaken combo... Nible Slash --> Ablating Strike--> Typhoon's Edge. So 5s+5s+5s=15secs. But factoring in activation and animation times, it's might be more like 10.6 seconds if the game considers the debuff from each attack to stack. Alternately, I suppose the combo debuff could last only 5 seconds once the last power in the combo hits. It's hard to tell using only City of Data. We'd have to actually time it to see which is the correct way to calculate it.

Most people only have a limited time to play, and at very specific times during the day. This question is for both @Sarah_ and @vampiretears... what time during the day do you normally play? And in what time zone? If you don't want to solo, you'll need to hook up with people who regularly log in around the same time as you do. Alternately, you can just keep an eye on the LFG chat channel in your Global chat tab and join peeps who are advertising. Just click on their name and send a message. The Excelsior shard is the busiest, which is probably where I'd recommend you play if you want to team up. And if you meet people you think you might have fun playing with, then don't hesitate to ask to join their SuperGroup. My supergroup is mostly deserted these days (although it has a fantastic base), and I'd offer to take you in but I don't really log in regularly. Maybe 1-3 times per week, and at varying times. Still, I don't have any problem with inviting people into my SG as long as you're OK with me being around only once in a while. Feel free to send me a tell to @BlackSpectre. Homecoming has a lot of players all over the world playing at different times. I've noticed the busiest time is between 4-8 PM PST. A lot of overlap happens between the East Coasters and the West Coasters in the U.S. during that time span.
