  1. I recently did exactly this, following

    this guide for maximum shenanigans.

I used an Ice/Regen Stalker - As long as you're back in Hide by the time the ambush arrives, it's comical. They follow you, hug you, but won't attack until you're out of Hidden. Additionally, AS and Placate for aggro management make soloing a BREEZE for most of the mobs.

Yes, there's one or two tricky spots with ambushes/fights from cut scenes... That's what enhancements are for.

I leveled her all the way on Gold XP only, and by the end of it was fighting +1x4 even through Ward's arc and finale. I was with a set build at that point, but most of the ride was SO's with the two key Stalker ATO's.

  2. Slot DP for Recharge first, then Accuracy and Healing. It'll take a lot to get it close to perma, though. (I'm at 280% in it and at 32 seconds.)

Totally worth it. I am running Dark/Psi with it, though, so also abusing -ToHit for additional resiliency.

    Since this power applies to Corruptors, Defenders, MMs and Controllers I thought I would ask it here because I cannot find a clear answer;

Does it require there be a dead ally to activate or can you fire it without it?

I know it talks about certain aspects of having to be near the fallen ally to rez, but doesn't say if the other aspects of the power (i.e. the debuff and stun) will still go off if there is no fallen ally, as in using it for non-rez purposes?.

Very much is usable as a Stun that just happens to rez teammates.

    LOL. Good One.

Brah, you're so salty on this you've gotten both your accounts and a buddy (or is it a third?) to downvote me. Edit: It's a 3rd, you created it 5 hours ago... Also, it's the only one who's given you props. Enjoy your circle-jerk to convince yourself that you're the good one here.

You're not, and you're absolutely toxic over it.

Why are you booing? I'm right.

I've been told by some that ice is avoided by brutes  due to  slows (causing less fury). I've had some fun playing one dispite this.. so what if it kills slightly slower if you enjoy it.  but it may be more useful on a tank.. and I get that.

Fury builds by attacking and being attacked. */Ice allows for +End... allows for more attacking.

As long as the fury builds, who care where it comes from? I need to roll an */Ice brute some time.

I am not that guy clearly.  If you'd take the time to research or learn about someone you would know that. This is the first time I have EVER asked about the authenticity of someone else claims of anything.  I only did so because I am genuinely curious about those questions.  I have done ITF well over 300 times and  I will admit 1:25 isn't a  realistic team time for +0 so that answers that question. Thank you for mentioning that Shred Monkey I missed it. I never said  I doubted his claim so get your facts straight Errants or shut the hell up.  Like I stated I was curious about a few thing and I congratulated him on his accomplishment or did you miss that part Errants?

Ugh that's a VERY tempting build you've got there, the pets in Dark are probably the strongest pull for me as I'm a sucker for pets. And I DEFINITELY don't need two highly similar dominators...right...??

My first Perma-Dom (couldn't afford it in Legacy), and he's a monster. Defenses aren't maxed, but between spamming Dom'd Stuns from PSW and HoD, as well as adding in -ToHit...

I play him like a scrapper.

Cause Spines is measurably bad. It gets absolutely throttled when it needs to do ST damage. And it isn't the AOE powerhouse the sets wants to be. Measurably and if someone enjoys it? Not the same. Fun is what matters. But Katana is measurably REALLY good. Not only does it perform really well but the set has fast attacks and chonky attacks. And it lets you go all weeb with your look and rock cool swords. But I can't see Spines rockin' GMs solo for some badges. Katana on the other hand? Go kill whatever it wants.

    Whelp, hells.

Planning on a revisit of /Ice with StJ/... Or, I could start a different 100% toon via one of my other alts. It is only pixels.

Agreed, though - always thought Spines/ was rocking, but never rolled it Legacy. And while I love my Spines/Ice... My TW/Nin is stronger and not nearly as kitted out (44ish).

  10. Remember, NW content caps out at 39, so you'll only have access to Lvl 44 powers if you stay gold.

Just finished this project myself, but as an Ice/Regen/Weapons Stalker - Had to pause exp at several key points to NOT outlevel contacts. Used @Redlynne's guide for Betrayal shenanigans. And then @Apparition's for First Ward to avoid out-leveling issues. Couldn't get the exp fast enough for Night Ward, wound up flashing through it once full, and then once again all the way through Ward's content for 50.

I echo to focus on Offense over Defense, due to slotting issues and lowbie mob HP. Mez pro is really all you need.

I mainly have FA to not get blinded - i know there are other ways but the end doesn't hurt on this build running it and i don't have to waste a slot for perception.

My mindset is inspirations are nice but never rely on them - not that it is bad to rely on them - just preference and everything needing to line up in my OCD worldview.

1 slot wonder for the +Perception IO in anything ToHit? It is a global, so doesn't require power activation.

  12. image.png.660cea5e8b819cdcb440ba616e9df8bc.png

Finished! 1-50 Gold ONLY. Had to repeat NW content fully once, and then got 50 on second flashback, during the Defend the Midnighter Mansion.

Been an interesting ride. Went Betray always for the initial contacts, then completely changed concept of toon (keeping powersets, yay costumes and renames) which kept me from deleting her. Did both good and evil through NW arcs and repetition. Ice/Regen/Weapons Stalker

Now to do the earnest but easily swayed Confirm alt. Thinking something other than Stalker, but still with mez protection... Thoughts/suggestions?

Broots, in my experience, make the best use of Resistance based sets.  You want to get hit to generate Fury, but mitigate those hits as much as possible.  Not that I think Defense Brutes would be starved for Fury, but I get more mileage out of Res on Brute.  I like the balance between Tanks, Brutes, Scrappers and Stalkers in a sliding scale of damage vs. survivability.  There's also nuances to which ATs favor ST, AoE, sustain, avoiding damage, mitigating damage, etc.

At least, I'm pretty sure avoiding attacks via Defense means not building Fury.

Getting attacked and attacking, regardless of hitting on either side, builds Fury. Def brutes are in NO shortage of Fury - It's just that due to AT modifiers and whatnot, you're better either running Scrapper or Tank (depending on damage or toughness), than running a Def-based Brute. Perfectly competent, but min/max will pull you to another AT for the defensive powerset.

Some thoughts on armor sets not yet listed ...

... definitely got to "catch" /Rad Armor - works great with Katana (enjoyed mine thoroughly), might be interesting with BS as an alternate. Sort of a modern take on classic Kat/Dark.  Pretty much good with any of the primaries you've got open.

... StJ/Dark might be interesting to lean into terrorize.  That spin kick is terribly small though and only gets the fear chance at Combo3. Might make a better Tank.

... Regen .... ? Savage might be interesting if one is inclined to make a monstrosity of some sort.

*re Sav/Inv* I have one of these, sitting close to 50 if not already there.  Never fleshed out a build I was happy with though.  Definitely fun, but Savage is doing the lifting there. 😄

Wanted to experiment with putting Gaussian's in the toggle (Invincibility?) so I could use Blood Thirst re-actively to recover Frenzy stacks instead of like a traditional BU - ie after attacking or mid-chain rather than as an opener for the big damage boost of BU - as it has small +dmg bit anyway.

Seemed to work when I remember to do it that way; remembering to swap the order of buttons was the hardest part.

*/Rad with BS/Kat/Staff seems a great idea, abuse the Parry. Leaning towards Staff/Radiation (both want PLENTY of targets)
I've a StJ/SD Stalker... who was VERY end hungy, so leaning towards /Ice repeat for the management tools.
I feel /Regen is weakest on a Scrapper now, given the 4 AT's that have it... So, looking to pair with a strong Primary, and one that won't thirst for many targets, but wants hard targets - Stone/Regen
I run my Sav/DA Brute with BT exactly like that... it's not a Build Up, it's an end recovery tool by instantly refilling my stacks.

On 6/12/2022 at 2:27 PM, BrandX said:

BS/Regen idea was to go with the Parry, but changing it up from the Katana/Regen.  Staff/Regen could go in there instead, as it has a Parry as well.

I can see that... Again, not a bad idea, but attempting new combos/playstyles.

First, thank you all, and to any else who comment.

So, with the input, 20ish hours of thinking, and some rest, I think I've filled it out. Now just need to think of concepts for them all... and roll them, and play them...
My doubled armor sets are all the Defense or Defense-hybrid sets... Figure I should lean into the strengths of the AT.

Battle Axe Fiery Aura BL Psycho?
    Broad Sword Willpower Generic Pict?
    Claws Stone Armor stabby stone
    Dark Melee Electric Armor   Dark
Dual Blades Super Reflexes BF, AS, SS, AS
Electric Melee Super Reflexes Tw17cH Body
Energy Melee Shield Defense Solve clipping
    Fiery Melee Ninjitsu   Blaze
    Ice Melee Invulnerability Angel, flight?
    Katana Invulnerability Samurai
Kinetic Melee Dark Armor Stun Abuse
    Martial Arts Bio Armor   Weapons
    Psionic Melee

    Regeneration

    Helltaker-esque
    Radiation Melee Shield Defense Criticality
    Savage Melee Energy Aura Death-bot
    Spines Ice Armor Penitentes Soul
Staff Fighting Radiation Armor Radioactive Staff
    Stone Melee Willpower Coral?
    Street Justice Ice Armor Viking?
    Titan Weapons Ninjitsu Hakawaii Leviathan
    War Mace Energy Aura Vovok'din

Need to find at LEAST one toon to take Scorpion Mastery, and it can't be the WM/Nrg (tribute and will always be a hero - props to whoever recognizes him)...

Otherwise, I think I've got some planning and rolling to do - Whatchall thing?

I have a Fire/Axe Tanker so I love that concept (Fire Man Axe and my Tanker is the avatar of a demonic phoenix), so good call for that combo imo 🙂

Broad Sword/Regen (so you get that +Defense Attack)

Katana/Dark Armor (More +Defense for the set)

    Stone/Rad Armor (Radio active Earth!)

Energy/Shield (Just no denying this combo)

    Fire/Ninja

    Kinetic/Bio

Street Justice/Inv (Classic Superman build in for Scrappers imo)

Savage/Inv (Seems like it'd be a fun combo)

Dual Blades/WP (classic combo as they came out together)

    Staff/Ninja or Staff/Dark

Agreed on Claws/Stone, is also why I have TW/Nin - I love the exclusive combos, even with proliferation. (have an Ill/Dark troller, too).

Validation on Axe/Fiery, nice. Stealing Fiery/Nin (why didn't I think of that?). Nrg/SD seems solid, catch is if I can tint stuff to ignore the pom-pom clipping, or make it seem a normal part of the shield.

Other ideas are good, but not seeming to click, yet. Though, BS/Regen is a slower Kat/Regen, so hard pass there.

    Thank you!

And, @Rokkeb - I didn't really see a recommendation in your lists, more just several you seem to be unsatisfied with. If I misread, please clarify.

  17. Currently have a small stable of scrappers, with ideas for more, and as I'm always build planning, trying to at least forecast the rest... So, I'm turning to all the crazed, brilliant minds of the Scrapper boards for assistance/feedback.

    • I've a strong aversion to themed Pri/Sec - no Fiery/Fiery, Ice/Ice et alia.
    • I'm looking to make a Scrapper for every Primary - as there's 21 available, and only 14 secondaries, there will be repeats.
    • If I've made a horrific combo, that I'll regret, feel free to give your feedback
    • Mained a Kat/Regen on Legacy, also had an MA/Inv - So, not repeating those.

    Rolled:

Electric Melee Super Reflexes Tw17cH Lvl 25, seems solid so far
Radiation Melee Shield Defense Criticality Lvl 13, reroll of Kin/SD, wanted some sort of healing and the -Dam wasn't cutting it.
Spines Ice Armor Penitentes Main/badger... has absolutely dirt ST though, can't reliably solo AV's.
Titan Weapons Ninjitsu Hakawaii Lvl 43, end bar to damage converter. Is soloing AV's with build.
War Mace Energy Aura Vovok'din Lvl 25, tribute character - must be WM

    Ideas:

Battle Axe Fiery Aura   Chain KD/KU for Burn maximizing
Claws Stone Armor   Seen the giggling on the forums, why not?
Dark Melee Electric Armor   Had a DM/EnA Brute on Legacy, similar buzzsaw shenanigans planned
    Ice Melee Invulnerability   Rough concept
Martial Arts Bio Armor   Foot fungus and extra AoE
Psionic Melee Willpower   Soft control + Regen

    Need armor sets:

    Broad Sword
    Dual Blades
    Energy Melee
    Fiery Melee
    Katana
    Kinetic Melee
    Savage Melee
    Staff Fighting
    Stone Melee
    Street Justice

So, grand plans/thoughts/machinations? Let the gestalt of the Scrapperlock flow through the forums.
