Kickstarters have always been risky, and long term projects are always rough. I would say that some of the community definitely bit off more than they could chew by trying to make an MMO as their first game. MMORPGs are notorious for having massive budgets, massive demands for development time, ludicrous difficulties, and as it turns out, even if you start off with a good idea and a working formula, you can quickly get overwhelmed. Try not to get bitter at them for trying and failing. At least we have homecoming. (Yes, I know how frustrating it can be. I've got a golden ticket to Star Citizen. ...and a monocle lol)
-
Are all of those terrible ideas just to justify the last part where you buff the mastermind? As a mastermind, I'm listening. But what if, instead of paying for all those awesome buffs, we STEAL them and get them for free?
-
Didn't we already kickstart some of these? There were multiple projects trying to revitalize City of Heroes after its shutdown. Each one was going to be a different approach.

OMG Party Kake is canon!

If you don't know what you're doing, always ask. At this point, I've DONE all the trials; but I've forgotten all their mechanics by now. If you encounter someone who tries to shame you, let us know. It'll be the first time we've seen that toxic exclusive raider personality in CoX, and then we'll know that we've made it and the game is popular! WOO!

That just comes from experience. While City of Heroes might be a very rare exception to the "chat is always toxic" law of the internet, if any bot scraping twitch streams detected an uncensored chat window, you could expect a flood of horrible commentary within moments. If anything, it's pre-emptive. ALWAYS block the chat window with something while streaming. Usually the camera feed of the streamer is put there, but that's certainly not a requirement. Add a pic of something funny, or another feed of your cat or whatever.

Yeah my recommendation is to customize the bio armor parts first, between minimal fx and color swapping, get the look you want to play with, THEN customize the costume around it. There are some cool combinations you might discover doing that. But yeah, some sets are like that. It's cooler when you can combine costume parts and powers to get a more specific look you want. I have some characters who just don't look right without their toggles on. Skin Condition just wouldn't be the same without Bio Armor.

dual pistols/dark miasma defender. challenge mode: no enhancements. even harder: don't use ninja run, it makes the animations cooler.
-
Y'all, how was Overglock not taken? That had to have been stolen from someone who was out for a year. dual pistols and kinetics. kinda fun too.
-
oh dual pistols is wild. When DP came out, I created a character to use it and gave her an awesome costume, and that just happened to be the first person I used ninja run on... and those three together were absolute joy. And let me tell you, a defender with dual pistols and dark miasma is absolutely awful at dps. I got wrecked all. the. time. (I am poor and have no invention thingies on my characters, so no set bonuses) Those animations go a LONG way. Beam rifle, though, is just point and shoot and synth fart noises. BVVVVVRRRRTT.

I was hopping between alts recently, grabbing exploration badges and logging them out in various areas to get their day job buffs maxed out, and for most of them I noticed that they didn't have the exploration badges from the pvp zones or the combat shield day job power (but most of them had the duelist/predator day jobs), so I figured I'd knock out a bunch of birds with one stone and as I was going through the area I realized I had a few characters with no travel powers to get the "Triumphant" badge in warburg. Since it's a pvp zone, all your temp powers are disabled like the jetpacks... And there's a badge high in the air on top of a globe, so you need super jump or teleport or fly (or arcane flight, or combat teleport, or the willpower jump I guess? or the electric powerset teleport power, etc) And it occurred to me, a few things. 1. PVP is almsot nonexistent even on high pop servers, even though all of us in our rp builds would probably have a great time since nobody is optimized. 2. There are probably a few people who wouldn't mind teaming up across sides to get that one badge 3. As long as nobody gets ultra competitive about it, there might be a little fun to be had taking the least useful builds into the pvp area. I figure if there's any interest whatsoever it might be fun to start up some sort of "wet noodle warburg wednesday" or something. date and time are negotiable of course, since I'm fairly certain interest in the topic is going to be on that lowest of low ends. The only thing really necessary would be some sort of group effort to fight around the center of the map so that we can teleport people (friend and foe alike) up to the badge. Thoughts?

AoE on some melee sets... what do you do?
PartyKake replied to ZeeHero's topic in General Discussion
This is City of Heroes, Blapper is a valid AT. -
Not the little man in a red outfit I was thinking of. Was that the inspiration for all those lawn gnomes people used to have? Or was that inspired by those. I guess it doesn't matter.

Power Armor: How Would You Build It?
PartyKake replied to The Witchfire's topic in General Discussion
Would probably be that Sentinel archetype I almost never use. They get ranged damage and armor sets, right? Though... perhaps a ranged set that includes some melee abilities alongside their ranged blasts. The energy assault thing dominators get I think tracks. ranged damage, lots of knockbacks, hard hitting melee (with more knockbacks) And then the armor set could get interesting. I'm thinking something where: you get a lot of resists against multiple types, but with a big drawback. After taking a certain number of hits, you get battle damage and have to get repaired to continue the fight. Opens the opportunity for some other creative uses of it as well. clockwork, android, gory cyborg, etc. -
Adding a few that I grabbed recently. Monumental - for my earth/mental dominator, using the statue costume I've had in storage for a long time. Intrusive Suggestion as a newer version of my much older character Sinister Thoughts. Might name swap these two because psi/psi makes more sense than psi/elec Master of Dungeons I grabbed last night. AWFULLY tempted to make a gnome costume of him inspired by a certain old cartoon character.

I think this is my current record, at 16. May have figured out how to get one more (Come Full Circle) but not on this character. This is having a bunch of day job badges saved up but doing the null the gull morality change to trigger all of them popping off at once.

I noticed that as well but I still don't know what it looks like, and I'd have to turn off the rainbow path aura to get it, so...

The first tri-form Warshade build I got dramatically changed the way I played because it came with some form-shifting macros that would switch you to a new form and replace your main action bar with one set up already for that form. BOY HOWDY does that change everything. Suddenly it's like you are walking, flying and tanking at all times. You get stacking, double-dipping aoe damage boosts from two versions of a similar power. And every single group you encounter becomes a source of power, and then they get obliterated. Ragdolls everywhere. more candies than you can chomp down on. The game went from zero to ludicrous so dang fast. And it also helped that I really liked that character's outfit. (outfit added for reference)
-
I wonder what powerset would be the best fit for a war pig.
-
Snagged "Aura Borealis" just recently, because Energy Aura was given to tankers. "On the Rocks" for a ice/ice dominator. "Guntroller" for an arsenal/arsenal... Dominator. hehe

Was just going to add, this one worked for me: /macro TP "team Hey $target, buckle up and sit still for teleport!$$powexecname teleport target" Looks like the space was the culprit. Special thanks to Arklide from the community discord.
-
I gave it a few tries, but even /macro TT "team Teleporting $target $$Powexecname Teleport Target" didn't work. I'm not sure what the command is, but I'm pretty sure your command to execute the power is the part that's broken. It just isn't using that power.
-
Just to be sure, you're not trying this out on another player are you? They might have the option set to auto-reject forced teleportation from allies. This is what I see after typing in that macro. Did you insert those quotation marks at some point?

I have characters lying around that have collected all the day job badges and I don't even remember what I was thinking when I created them. But between costume changes being cheap or free and renaming them later if it suits me, I don't think I'll need to delete any before I hit the limit of 1000. I did, however, at one point reorganize them so that they were sorted by archetype. But all that did was inspire me to create more characters until the archetypes were more equally represented.
