  1. If they wanted to do S31, it should have just been a story about this guy (with some of that not-at-all-uncanny-valley-invoking-de-aging-tech): Or, hell, even this would get my support: ... Tangential thing I discovered while pulling up William Sadler's name from IMDB ... ... what in the love of Trek is this likely abomination, why is J-Dax in it if it is set 25 years after she dies, and why do I feel compelled to watch it because that's how much I loved DS9? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12669884/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_ds9 ... back on topic ... I still expect it to be fun to watch Yeoh strut around this for the giggles, but I don't expect it to be a compelling take on S31. I'll just imagine I'm watching something else. 🤣
  2. Hmm ... As a vehicle for Michelle Yeoh? Yes. Looks great. As a piece centered on Section 31? Nah. Not what I was hoping for when the rumors were firing up. I get why ... take a popular character (deservedly so) played by an excellent actress and give them a bit of a run. Folks will watch it just for a bit more Georgiou (I know I will) ... ... but there is so much more that could be done with something like 31 that I can't help but feel a slight tinge of disappointment that the potential isn't being explored.
  3. Only if we're getting motorcycles in Homecoming.
  4. By internet standards, this is an oldie, but definitely a goodie. Circa 2011 homage to 1950s Sci-Fi serials. Won't link the actual website as it seems to have triggered a certificate error, but since I didn't verify that was what triggered the Firefox alert I'll err on the side of caution. Might have shared this before in a previous thread, but I don't recall. Back when it was new the director posted a lot of really nice BTS on the costume/prop construction. Counts here as it was originally released online-only. The Mercury Men https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1995142/
  5. Of the series I've seen to date, I can agree with that. WV and Loki weren't really action-oriented, and I liked both of those quite a bit for different reasons. Particularly the art direction in Loki, which reminded me quite a bit of the designs for Clockworks and Summerland in Legion. (this is a very good thing, imo) Mostly there were a handful of moments of ... not great ... dialog writing in F&WS, imo that dragged it down a bit. Beyond that I did enjoy the watch, even if there wasn't enough of the banter I was hoping for. 😄
  6. If I'm being honest, all I really wanted out of the F&WS series was a whole lot of cheeky banter between Stan and Mackie. Got some, but not nearly enough. Still enjoyed the series, save for a few weak moments here and there. Trailer looks like they're trying to walk in CA:TWS's footsteps, which is great and all, but not enough there in the clip to render judgment. Looks like they mostly painted by numbers on this one, for better or worse. I'll still give it a watch when it hits the D+ though, just for the fun of an action movie diversion. I've been slowly catching up on the various series, and am still several movies behind the curve though. Slightly off-topic comment follows:
  7. I always start with a concept: I've either got a specific character (backstory/homage/etc) or visual design (costume) I want to make and experiment with power combos that both fit into it and are enjoyable to play. My Fire/MC blaster started this way. Kat/Rad scrapper started this way as well. My Psi/SD scrapper was originally a Psi/Nin, but that didn't fit what I was going for so I re-rolled. I tried a variety of Savage/XXX combos on a scrapper because I wanted to build something inspired by those creepy, headless, Boston Dynamics Robot Dog things (Spot?), and landed on Savage/Invuln. Currently (although it has been a while since I've devoted any significant time to play) I have a couple of toons with great names and looks, but am struggling to find an enjoyable combination for them. Rarely, I will have a specific power-set pairing in mind and will mold a concept/look around that. My Fire/Stone/Blaze Stalker started out this way, and turned out to be quite an enjoyable character. I'll always level through a mix of solo arcs and TF teams. I have no problems re-rolling to a different powerset combo, even if I am well into the 40s. Any IOs slotted simply get moved to the inventory of the re-rolled toon. I also have no problems dropping an idea entirely if it isn't working out, or shelving it for a while for later. I have a Praetorian concept or two that fall into this category. While leveling, I'll slot SOs and use the "Upgrade" button every 3rd level or so. As specific IOs that I know I want to slot become available (ATO sets, standard pieces like Panacea, Perf Shifters, etc) I'll slot them in. Mostly these are attuned pieces where I know I won't gain value from the 50+5 treatment. Some I will swap out at 50 if I want to +5 them to satisfy that numerical OCD. As far as mids: I'll poke around a bit in mids after the toon hits the mid-20s or so and start contemplating a post-50 build. I rarely exemplar, and have some toons (looking at you Psi/SD) that don't lend themselves to doing so, so I am generally not too concerned about that aspect. Occasionally I'll hit a sweet spot and build with that in mind (Fire/MC blaster does this well). Eventually I'll land on a target build, and revise it any number of times on the way to 50 as I get a feel for what I want out of the power combos. On toons that I play extensively post-50, I'll go through a few revisions to fine tune power choices and slotting. I rarely consider a build "finished," especially as various Page updates to HC change things around.
  8. I know this won't help in understanding the Incarnate system, and it's plethora of salvage and what-not, but since that's already been covered nicely in the thread (really, the linked guide does help) here is something that at least makes accessing the menu more convenient. Both of these commands will put a button in your tray that will open the Incarnate powers menu. The first one is just the command to open the menu, the second comes with a swanky emote. Enter either string into in-game chat to get the button. /macro_image "Incarnate_Trial_MarkOfLeadership" "Incarnate" "toggle incarnate" /macro_image "Incarnate_Trial_MarkOfLeadership" "Incarnate" "toggle incarnate$$em calculate" It is a small thing, but fewer clicks than the other methods of opening the window. Useful for checking out the available powers and the salvage needed to craft them. Also useful for toons that have multiples for a given slot to switch between depending on conditions. If you want some specific advice on which iPowers for a specific toon, head on down to the archetypes section and knowledgeable residents will have loads of suggestions. Hope that's useful. 🍻
  9. This is a series I would actually watch.
  10. Interesting. Don't know about that as I've never seen the notification when using those binds. Which powers, or just Hasten/Domination? I could see that happening with powexec, but not powexecauto. The latter should just move the ring around.
  11. Oh, but you can ... A "+left$$powexecauto Hasten$$powexecauto Active Defense" D "+right$$powexecauto Active Defense$$powexecauto Hasten" S "+backward$$powexecauto Active Defense$$powexecauto Hasten" W "+forward$$powexecauto Hasten$$powexecauto Active Defense" Replace Active Defense with whatever the /Nin clicky is called. Green Ring will swap between them as you move around. Easy to manage such that it is where you want it when you want it.
  12. My default bind set is in the linked thread provided by @Clave Dark 5. Happy to answer specific Q?'s if you've got any. 🍻
  13. Love these! Reminiscent of the work of Todd Alcott who re-imagines music/movies as pulp novel book covers: https://hcgart.com/collections/todd-alcott Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for the impact that visiting the Hero Complex Gallery website may or may not have on your wallet. Follow the above link at your own risk! 🤣
  14. idk, there's quite a bit of the 1980s that the future would be fine without. 🤣 Fwiw, there is still a metric boat-load of great music being made out there, but one has to dig deep to find it. Of course I'm speaking as a (insert massive understatement here) music snob - if it gets mainstream radio play I've likely never heard it. All that is to say that the future of music will be just fine. 🫡
  15. Actually the tea clipper was the clue, but then Snarky started talking about Santa Barbara and I couldn't the our version of the isles out of my mind. 🤣 Probably should have quoted this in the first place ... ... besides, everyone should know about the Island Fox. 😉 Yes, I fully acknowledge that telling a Brit about foxes is like whatever the American to British version of "mansplaining" would be called. 🤣 Still CINP remains one of the all time highlights of my long and distinguished camping obsession. 😉
  16. I have nothing to add to this thread that other's haven't heard me say before about the joys of teleportation and flight; however ... ... since The Channel Islands National Park has been mentioned, here is a thing people should know about ... Meet the Island Fox. Endemic to the islands, and the only carnivore that is unique to California. https://www.nps.gov/chis/learn/nature/island-fox.htm They are as adorable as they look, and will run rampant through the campsites there, which is just a joy to watch with morning coffee.
  17. Totally agree with this, and the entire rest of the paragraph. I mostly tossed in that edit to preempt any sort of "But Star Wars had a fan base that also ... yadda, yadda, yadda ..." because of my attributing the some of the success of ST going from ancient TV show to movies that re-kindled interest to an existing dedicated fanbase. Was probably overly cautious on my part as this is a nice little corner of the internet where we are largely devoid of such things. 😄 Oh, yeah, I forgot that those things were in there. I think I forgot on purpose. 🤣 Another thing that annoyed me about this film was in the first teaser trailer where they basically give away the whole Spock/Kirk hands on the glass gag and you can tell who's in the chamber and who isn't. The shot in the trailer was only a couple of seconds, but enough for me to have known exactly what was going to happen. They botched the launch, and most of the casual audience had no idea what they were looking at. If memory serves, they aired "The Train Job" first before showing the actual pilot that introduced the setting, characters, and major points of the backstory. I was introduced to it by a former lady-friend who had copies of dubious origin and thus got to watch it in proper order, but still before the movie was released. Yeah, make your way through The Expanse. The Belter cover version of Highway Star by Deep Purple is not to be missed. 😉 There's also some pretty dark diegetic music made by Belters that would require spoilers to describe, and is also very good.
  18. Both solid, and iirc commercially successful. I stopped at the first two considering that VI was released after Next Gen had already started airing. Either way, ST is sort of the poster child for how revisiting a TV series in movie format can re-launch a franchise. Of course it is also sort of a special case, in that we were all (figuratively speaking) watching TOS in syndication in the span between the original run and the first movie. Somewhere in there, after the first movie iirc, there was also TAS for those of us of the right age. I can't think of any other series with enough of an in-built fan base to have pulled the same trick: come back in movie form like 10ish years later and spawn multiple films, TV series, etc lasting several decades. Edit: Ok, I suppose there is also Star Wars in its own way. 3 movies, then a long gap, then more movies, another gap, then some more movies and a bunch of streaming series. Now, if we can just get 3+ more seasons of The Expanse covering the last 3 novels I can finally rest. 🤣 Solid call here though. ST:2009 was released in a period without an active TV series on air. I didn't mind the new cast or timeline, I somewhat-to-mostly enjoyed these entries. Biggest complaints for me were the dumb idea to try to "hide" Khan's identity in the second one and mostly that it was Star Trek:LENS FLARE EVERYWHERE in that cheap visual "style" that Abrams can't stop doing. I always forget that there are people who saw the movie before the show. I almost listed it, but erred on not doing so because I forgot that particular detail.
  19. The Fugitive. Dragnet. The Blues Brothers. Wayne's World. some of the Muppets movies. Star Trek I & II. It's a formula that doesn't always work, but there are way better examples of it working than 21 Jumpstreet. 🤣 As to the Fall Guy ... I'll probably watch it streaming; which was always the plan. If I didn't make it to a theater for Dune (either one) - for reasons that have nothing to do with theaters or the movie itself - I'm certainly not going to for the Fall Guy.
  20. Yeah. That tracks too. 🤣
  21. By that metric I think I am currently sitting at 20% of a Standard Universal Snarky.
  22. RIP. One of the true greats of the game. So glad you added this. Mentioning it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the thread title. RFCS was more than just writers, actors, and directors. The sheer number of BTL crew that got their start working under Corman boggles the mind. Met a more than a few during my crewing days; the immense respect and adoration for Corman among them was universal.
  23. If you don't already have one with /Martial Combat, make one. Any primary you like. I love my Scrappers and Stalkers, but I had the most fun with the Fire/Martial blaster. Not FotM by any stretch, but plenty effective and just a riot to play. M a r t i a l C o m b a t 😉
  24. Briefly. Never got around to getting mine fully kitted out with an iSuite, but did play it at 50 for a while. Fun combo. Invuln is a classically solid set, and Savage has interesting tricks up its sleeve. Invincibility is an interesting alternative for Gaussian's BU instead of placing it into Thirst. This means leveraging Thirst for replenishing Frenzy Stacks right after spending them, so you can double-up on that sweet radius boost in Rending Flurry. BT has a small damage buff compared to traditional BU, so, imo, its real use is for those stacks. That was my theory for pairing them, well, that and I wanted to build something that looked like one of those headless robot-dog-looking things. Headless bot with Beast Run sort of gets there. Savage made sense at the time. 😛
  25. I was looking for something else, but then I stumbled on this ... ... which is just ... better.
