  1. As someone that struggles to play Khelds, I would simply remove the knock back. I mainly pug and don't want to be the bad guy, disrupting the flow of the team by blasting the mobs all over the place. Obviously a kb to kd in the attacks would resolve this but that impacts the sets that I want to use. Simplistic and way below the discussion level that's going on I'm sure but it would get me playing them.
  2. Play what you want and have fun. This game is more about the person behind the keyboard than the alts that they play. No AT or combo is required for a mission, one of the reasons I love the game so much.
  3. Love both, but Affinity edges it for me. I find that Fade and Soul Absorption reduce the reliance on the heal, which although very good, needs a to hit check and has a slow animation. This leaves me free to be getting on with other stuff. My current fave Controller is Symphony/DA, good control but feels very blastery in its playstyle.
  4. I usually take Aid self on alts without a heal if I can fit it in. Aid self can be interrupted too so the SR is a very good set to use it with as it’s defence based.
  5. DA also has the advantage of stun stacking with Oppressive Gloom, this greatly increases survivability.
  6. Hand Clap - could be the start of a new melee set, Biohazard. 😁
  7. Really, that's strange, I've always found it helpful.
  8. Just ignore them, SS is a great set, very good damage and some nice mitigation with footstomp providing knock down. The minimal damage part of rage crash is annoying but can be filled with P2W damage powers, these are unaffected.
  9. Harsh but true! 😄
  10. Slot for recharge to get Perma PA, after that cap ranged defence then melee. From a play perspective I wouldn't use this combo, not that it's bad, it's just that both sets are quite passive, so can get boring, at least I found it so.
  11. Agreed, I think of them as being augmented into super soldiers.
  12. Spore cloud is actually AoE and can affect up to 16 targets, the problem is the radius of the debuff is quite small at 15 feet. If they're packed close though....
  13. Your best option for this style of play would be an Arachnos Soldier not a Sentinel. They have a weapon based primary and defense secondary.
  14. If that is the case isn't Shield a good option too? A damage buff in Against All Odds plus a nuke?
  15. Of the two I would go with Ninjitsu. Dark Armour is a great set on other ATs but is a poor port to Sentinels due to the change to the heal. On Sentinels the big AoE damage/heal has been replaced with a single target damage/heal/regen/end which for me takes away one of the cornerstones of DA. If you want to play DA. go with a melee AT. On as side note. if you do want to stealth in a Sentinel, you can simply slot one of the Stealth Enh in Sprint, this will grant stealth whenever sprint is on. You can also take Stealth from the power pool, which stacks with the Enh to give invisibility. If you're going to be playing on the ground and not using Hover, I'd go with Super Reflexes and slot the Stealth Enhancement. SR has very good resistance to -def debuff. Just my quick thoughts, have fun whatever you choose.
  16. The developers created the Sentinel in reaction to a request from users pre-shutdown; users asked for a ranged/defence AT. Originally this wasn't done for fear of an over powered tank mage but the current developers have managed to create the AT and keep it balanced.
  17. You're being a bit nasty aren't you?! Someone has made the effort to help and you're just plain rude, even if the advice isn't correct or not to your liking try to maintain some common decency. In regards to Hover, it's extremely useful and massively increases survivability. You can stay out of range of all melee attacks while dealing damage, many mobs only have melee attacks so those are completely negated. Also you can stay out of most -def patches - ice has reasonable -def debuff numbers but not great. Run your Ice Sentinel in an ITF with and without Hover, the experiences will be very different.
  18. Currently */Plant is my flavour of the month. On top of the usual ST hold and immob, you get a decent charging targeted AoE hold. A toggled Tageted AoE debuff and no cost toggle that gives you +absorb/recovery and resist to toxic and confuse. I’ve levelled a Dark/Plant that plays like Blastroller. This combo was brought to my attention by another poster a while back - thanks for that. Currently just off L50 with a Storm/Plant, which again provides nice damage and control. Both of these are hover blasters but recently started a ground based Seismic/Plant as I wanted the full benefit of Seismic (needs to be on the ground) and decent survivability, all of Plants goodies help here.
  19. Built a few like this, the best is probably Fire/Time Corruptor. The main buffs also buff yourself. Massive heal, increased defence and increased recharge. Fire allows you to output massive damage. Nature Affinity is also good for this but personally I prefer Time.
  20. They’re both good sets and create survivable alt doing good damage. Sonic has three attack cones on a short recharge, two of which give decent damage mitigation. One a sleep and the other KB, so you’ll need to to slot a KB to KD. The nuke stuns mobs and can be stacked with the similar attack in Psionic Mastery to stun most mobs. Rad Armour has a PBAoE too for more damage. Ive built mine with Hover and capped ranged defence, good fun and survivable.
  21. I’ve got both at L50, which I play depends on my mood, do I want any responsibility or not. The Dom is Symphony/Sonic, this plays at range only and is very Blastery. Sonic giving some ranged attacks and extra control with a KB/KD cone. The Controller is Symphony/Cold, good fun but does pull more aggro and there’s the obligation to buff and monitor team health - some may need assistance by applying debuffs too. So yeah, my question would be how do you want to play, both are good. I voted Dom by the way as it reflects my mood currently, tomorrow who knows….
  22. Hi, out of interest, what did you go with and how have you found it?
  23. I was going to suggest a Sentinel but seen that I’ve been beaten to it. I would go with Water blast / Will power. Will power hasn’t got any colicky powers, it just works and Water blast has very good AOE range including the nuke. Rather than playing a melee character and have to chase critters you’ll be able to tab target and dish out a lot of ranged damage. If you take flight/hover and cap ranged defence, you’ll be very survivable, staying out of melee and also avoiding debuffs. A well built Hover Sentinel is very hard to take down.
  24. Hi, just wanted to point out that this isn’t true - Sentinels aren’t a missed opportunity. Going back years, way before the servers went down, there were requests on the forums for a ranged/defence alt. At the time many were saying that it wouldn’t be possible, raising Tank Mages. Others that it was simply balancing damage against survivability. Pre Sentinels Fortunatas and Crabs were the closest things that we had. The devs have looked at the requests and delivered it and in my opinion have a done a fine job. Cant be a missed opportunity if you’ve simply delivered on what your player base has asked for.
