My defense is comically low, although given I don't have many sets yet I dont forsee much good tanking below 40% defense before my non-toggle buffs. Also could use any other advice those familiar with EA tanker can offer.
Biggest plus side at least is I've noticed much less end issues than is normal.
We are currently running an Energy Aura armor "challenge" for Tanker Tuesday Tour on Excelsior. We got through DFB and the Frostfire arc and my tank wound up on 16 and ready for the Posi1/2 TFs. Next month (and on the 7th), we'll be taking on the Synapse TF, and it also happens to be the WST.
I'm fairly new to Energy Aura (only one other toon - EM/EA Brute), but have been tanking since 2004...hence Taunt at lvl 10. Since Homecoming offers prestige attacks, and I'm a survivalist first, I have all the armors available at 16. Using the above advice, and any Res and Def IOs available at this level, I wound up with this:
He's pretty immune to +1/+2 bosses (street sweeping in Steel Canyon), but obviously not a damage powerhouse.

There were also two teams running on the Energy Aura Tank challenge with @PLVRIZR and @Warboss leading those teams each through a DFB and then through the Hollows to finish the night beating up Frostfire.
I think most got to the 14-15 range so Energy Aura challenge will continue Oct 7th on Excel when Synapse is the WST. If you missed out on the start you have time to get a new Energy Aura tank to 15 to join with us next month.
We had a good time, albeit a bit of a grind and some last-minute shuffling of teams in the League. MANY thanks to @Warboss for handling that task as I was quick to give him the star back, once he arrived at the scene (which was already hopping, a good 25 minutes before the usual start time).
It had been many moons since I had run Frostfire, so thanks to everyone re-educating me about Officer WIncott and Flux 🙂. Then @wittylibrarian fulfilled the usual destiny by falling first 😆. We were running a +0/8, but lost two members in the last two missions, so fought through waves of Outcasts, with a small but mighty team of six. Quite satisfying to drop FF, after an almost two hour slog (for the entire night, the final mish and "arrest" of Frostfire was only about 10-12 min.).
I think most of us ended at 13 or 14, so would be willing to organize a out-of-cycle TT event to run Posi1 and Posi2, in preparation to next month's Synapse, if there's enough interest. Maybe Sunday night?

Three teams running with thanks to @Oterra for taking the mission team lead and @PLVRIZR for running a regular Manticore TF. The electric melee challenge ran a Manticore as well, thanks to @MsAligned for taking the lead on that.
We had one of the most enjoyable TTs, in recent memory, last night. Eight completely overpowered (albeit exemplared) tanks ripped through a +2/8 Manti in 55 minutes, with only one defeat (won't say who got distracted and dropped unexpectedly). One of our team also noted that there were no duplicate power sets, so the mayhem was quite varied.

Does Barrier help? I thought Hami damage was unresistable (hence the EoEs (special resistance for all ATs). I know Ageless helps with recharge, and have heard that Rebirth and Clarion (?) are beneficial as well. I know MsA has the breakdown on this. I'll see if I can talk with them. They specialize in Hami raids.
Good points and it's been awhile, obviously.

In regards to the Dec 30th Hami:
We need to work out how/who will be Tanking Hami for us (as mentioned the raid will be on Torch this time - PLV, you up for being Hami bait?).
If I'm available and on, sure. Got a couple of options...having a couple league-mates with Barrier helps, as well. We usually travel for New Years', but I carry along a gaming laptop, so should be OK. (Especially since CoH will run on a toaster with dial-up)

@PLVRIZR and @MsAligned both took out teams to tackle the Ernesto Hess TF. Many thanks to them for doing that.
See you all in the City
We started with seven, but lost one just before the LFG attempt to jump to start, so six of us finished a +2/7 in an hour. Grand time and a couple of levels, more for the un-incarnated. Did have an error getting started (said one of the team couldn't join), so our time included hoofing it to Striga.

Here's mine. Super tanky. Leveling build, as always. Didn't split SGF for the NRG/NegNRG bonus(es) but could. Also, went with Energy Mastery, strictly because of Focused Accuracy.
Paging @Zect to tear it down and build it back up...

We had a grand time and, as Ronin reports, finished a +2/8 in 53 minutes, with a KM until the last mish where we went straight to "vandalize" the AV. Only two defeats with @Waraxe doing their best @wittylibrarian impression, in the first 8 - 10 minutes...with Witty following suit about 20 minutes later. Anyone else who needs Manti on their stone armor challenge tanks, keep a lookout for that potential in the future, as well.

We'll miss you @SeraphimKensai and while I'd be in for a +4 Eden trial, I'm bringing my Stone Armor challenge tank, who missed Citadel during the run(s), to get that TF under my belt...if there's enough interest (hint, hint, @Ronin_Around and @Warboss)...

A grand old time was had on Everlasting tonight, 27 tankers joined forces to kick the Rikti off the planet in a Mothership Raid despite a crash on the initial attempt to launch the attack.
Many thanks to those that came out for the event.
Yes, that was a hoot. Thanks for organizing, Ronin. Also special shout-out to @Warboss, who diligently re-invited all players...then led the pylon sequence.
See you in the City!

I'm thinking something with plenty of knockdowns to leverage FF for things like Overload, Energize, and Energy Drain.
Which would point you to Stone Melee. I just Incarnated my Dark/Stone, from the stone melee tanker challenge and he's a hoot. Other than no DDR (when Ageless wears off), he's also pretty indestructible. FFs in Fault and Tremor keep Dark Regen and Soul Transfer going. Highly recommended.

@PLVRIZR leading a Numina to get the TFC accolade for the last few tanks on the challenge that needed it. With that done for most, next month we can do the big push to get these tanks to 50 and/or fill in any gaps in the TFC for those that need them. (I believe @X'terra volunteered to lead a Positron 1 & 2 next month)
What a good time (albeit a bit sloggy at times) with a small (five) but mighty team. Started at +2, but eventually dropped to a +1/6 for Jurassik and still finished in 1:11. Not bad considering the hunts took a bit longer than usual, due to everyone soloing the zones.
Next month, I'll bring Allegra, Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec and Zyzol for X's "star allergies", as well.

Next Tanker Tuesday is July 22nd on Indomitable. The Stone Armor challenge will be running and I think are up to Numina's TF. As well, the WST will be Yin and Faathim. Meet in Kings Row on the wall by the IP Gate. 6:00 pm PT / 9:00 pm ET.
My stone armor challenge tank's last badge was Numina's, so we're past that. I do have a 50 that needs Numina and could bring him, if there is enough interest in Numina, or we could run a Yin, with our stone armor's...

The Electric Melee challenge team managed to get a +2 Yin TF done with @PLVRIZR leading and then ran a Citadel TF with @Felix 9 getting the star after a few of us crashed out.
All in all, a good night of tanking was had.
Agreed, a very good night of tanking. Most of the team was barely tall enough for Yin, and certainly light on IOs and sets, so we slogged out the +2/8 in about 50 minutes. A far cry from the 30-35 it used to take, with a full team of incarnated (albeit exemplared) tanks, prior to the recent patch(es). Lots and lots of dings, however, getting everyone to at least 25 for Cit. Sorry to have missed that, but life happens...

The crash is just awful, it goes from "Rage" to "Impotent Nerd Rage" for 10 seconds. The only button I can push at that point is Mighty Judgement, but the CDs don't line up, so it drifts.
Procs are unaffected by Rage crash, so if you have a damage proc in Footstomp (or any other melee attacks), you still have a chance at that damage. Other procs still work, like the tanker ATO1 and ATO2 and my Inv/SS build includes a full set of Blistering Colds in KB, so the hold proc still works and the Entombed absorb proc in Char. So you've still got options when Rage crashes (including prestige attacks like Sands of Mu).
I should also add that you can taunt and position/group enemies, during the crash. That's how I handle it...and the ten seconds pass very quickly, IMHO.

Strange happenings on the Synapse1 team (and thanks again to @X'terra for leading). First, we started with only six tanks (on a +2/8), until one dropped before the Clockwork Lord mission. After finishing that mish, it re-loaded in error, so we all logged out and logged back in. Didn't fix it, so we did that mish (again!), with only five tanks. Met the Synapse2 team on the roof and Babbage failed to appear (I get it, he was obviously scared), so we took to the Clockwork King mish with our small but mighty team. Even with all that re-doing and standing around, we finished in less than two hours. I think I got three levels on my (starting at 32?) Dark/Stone Melee toon that missed Syn on the stone melee challenge runs.
All in all great fun, great tanking and glorious herding.
-
To bring damage to the table, consider a Fire/Fire/Pyre tank, if you still want to o tank.

Happy to help out Ronin, and I had a great team. Thanks all for the efficient run! Oh, and I made PLV do most the work (kinda'). 😉
LOL, and also happy to help herding a gloriously fast TinPex (ApeMage). Even with the nerfs, 7 tanks finished a x8 in about 52 minutes. Battle Maiden took about 50% longer, in my estimation, than in the past TT events.

There were also 12 tanks doing the Stone Armor Challenge which we split into a team running a Numina TF lead by @X'Terra for those over 35 and a team running a Manticore TF lead by @PapaSlade for those who didn't get it done last month.
Thanks again for "X" leading, as they were the tallest of the six of us (and all of lvl 38, IIRC). Six (now nerfed) tanks took on a +2/8 Numina and finished in less than two hours. Big difference in the time it takes to complete the hunts, without a full team, for sure. I quit counting dings, but my (starting) level 36 tank ended at 38. Much herding and tons of fun.

I went back and checked, in April we did Yin and some of us got a Citadel in as well that night. Last month, Warboss took the stone tankers on a Manti while I took out a non-stone tank on a mission team for the lowbies. So not sure how many are in Numina range now or not, but we will pencil in a Citadel TF at least and maybe do a level 30 contact arc for the rest. I'm certain I can find an interesting way to get people killed... I mean XP.
I miss one flippin' Indom run...

Last month was Yin, so I guess it'll be Citadel. I'm 27 so everyone should be 25+ by now...

TW is slow. Slower than Rad Melee...which is saying something.
While many have had success with resistance armors on Scrappers, you're self-nerfing since it'll be capped at 75%. Go Broot, fo sho. (if you wind up actually doing it)
