Tips for Radiation Armor/Fiery Melee/Energy Mastery
Heraclea replied to dangeraaron10's topic in Tanker
I have a /fire tanker and a radiation/ tanker, they're different characters. With Radiation you will want the whole set. Slot up your heals and your debuffs. Having a power that heals the whole team instead of just you is nice. And you can get good mileage from cheap IO sets. Fire on a tanker has several solid AoE attacks, so Fire Breath may be skippable, You'll have choices to make on whether you want your character to have swords or not. I recommend the swords. You'll at least want Fire Sword Circle. Whar Fire lacks is control. Especially if you're a flyer I recommend picking up Air Superiority to knock that Sapper onto his fundament. -
Just discovered this after years of wanting to play again.

If you have any interest in base building, know that prestige has gone away and many interesting things have been added. This guide will help: And welcome home! -

Build a supergroup base and add some enhancement storage tables, maybe one or two inspiration racks, and the rest for salvage. Use your salvage racks to stockpile every bit of yellow and orange salvage you have, as well as stuff like catalysts and converters. Put all your characters in the group with the /altinvite command. In my main base I have four enhancement storage tables: one for lowbie stuff, mostly generic IOs; one for keepers, one for stuff to gamble with, and the last for high level generic IOs. Craft every single yellow set recipe you have the right salvage for. Doesn't matter if it's crap like a sleep or immobilize set. Craft it and squirrel it away. Use your 'odd' reward merits (anything not a multiple of 20, 50, or 100) to buy enhancement converters. Use these to do in-type conversions (i.e. sleep set to sleep set) on the yellow junk you saved. For most sets, especially at level 50, converting in type will convert an uncommon yellow to an orange rare. You now have a rare IO from a junk set, and will be free to run one-unit rarity to rarity conversions until your rare IO lands on something one of your characters can eventually use. The same holds true with purples: craft every one you get, even if it's Fortunata Hypnosis. It only takes one converter to turn it into a different purple. And if your salvage hoard is good enough you have all the rare salvage to craft anything that comes your way. Consider frankenslotting as well. Set bonuses aren't quite as important as boosting the core functions of important powers. Even if none of the set bonuses interest you, you can enhance accuracy, damage, and recharge on your attacks by dropping in mismatched yellow IOs of any type that fits. You're getting more oomph with fewer slots that way, and that may be better than a set bonus.

Thanks. I knew it was something like that, the same way that Lady Grey TF spawns Rikti invasions. And FWIW, Jack and Eochai can be summoned to their battle by clearing the valley in the north around the Grim Wanderer badge of all mobs. Not sure how often this can be done; there's almost certainly a lockout timer of some sort like there is on Adamastor. Summoning Caleb in Nerva works the same way IIRC; there's an area to clear of spectres. At any rate, the summoned versions of Jack and Eochai award their normal merits and badges, same as the random spawning ones do.

There is, I think, a way to trigger zombie invasions in Croatoa. I can't remember whether it is completing the TF, or turning in a set of Halloween salvage to Annah.

I was able to get AoE to past the softcap fairly easily. Ranged eluded me until I remembered good old Multistrike, so now all of the positions are higher than 45% without respeccing or moving anything. Entirely unrelated question: how many server transfers do you get on Homecoming? and are they ever refreshed?

Citadel is OK, especially given its age. An experience best done with a couple of more mature characters that can afford team teleport. I am a definite non-fan of Adm. Sutter, though: extremely unhelpful maps and vague goals. You had better not get separated from your team. If you do you likely will have no idea where you need to be or how to get there.

On a tanker, I fought Nosferatu for twenty minutes solo before giving up, as an EB. This was a relatively high DPS build for a tanker (shield/fire). I chose to level this character running as much old school content as I could, and he sits in the middle of a Nemesis storyline. Recruited a couple teammates with debuffs and DPS and he went down much faster.

My first priority is to turn endurance into something I don't have to pay attention to, and to get the characters to a point where they can run their main attack chains indefinitely. Getting enough accuracy into attacks is a related problem. I extensively use frankenslotting because I find that the most desirable sets for bonuses tend to have less accuracy than I am happy with, This is especially important on melees who tend to slot as many Kinetic Combats as they can get. Typical slotting for a ST melee attack is four KC + 2 Crushing Impact Acc/Dam and Acc/Dam/Rech. Core functions - damage on a blaster, defense or resistance on a tanker, recharge on a dominator - come next. Making, say, a defense capped blaster may be interesting exercises, but builds made for that sort of thing tend to use slots in ways I consider perverse. I then start looking at ATOs and choose attacks to slot them, starting with the procs. My understanding is that, contrary to old wisdom, the slowest recharging attacks have priority here.

How about an Off-Topic Forum?
Heraclea replied to Dugunthi's topic in Website Suggestions & Feedback
My suggestion would be to create a 'popular culture' or 'superheroes' forum for general discussions along that lines, with the rule against political or religious argument remaining in place. -

The Current PUG Meta (aka ramblings of an old man)
Heraclea replied to Gulbasaur's topic in General Discussion
On Tanker Tuesdays, we regularly organize all-Tanker runs of just about every TF and mission content in the game, as well as Rikti ship raids. An all Tanker ITF is relaxing and pleasant for everyone. The only thing IME that ever eluded us on an all tanker run was the Kahn TF. -
Got my third tanker to 50 yesterday - the shield/fire. Trying to figure out how to slot her. What are some good sets for positional - as opposed to typed - defense? Right now I am at 48% melee defense, but 40% ranged and about the same for AoE defense. Good enough for all practical purposes, I know, but I would still like to raise those latter figures. I am not at all allergic to slotting up sets that only go up to 30 or 35, also. Anything I should be looking at? Also considering slotting a Taunt set in Combustion.

Does the same set work different when primary vs secondary?
Heraclea replied to Glow Worm's topic in General Discussion
There are some powers that change or don't exist as primaries for secondaries. Fire/ Scrappers don't get Combustion; /Fire Tankers do. Armor sets work rather differently on Sentinels, and a whole lot differently on Stalkers. All Stalkers get Hide in their armor sets, unless for some it's been renamed to a random Japanese word. Nobody else does. -

I don't think there is any character class that I have played, or any content, where I haven't wondered whether I really am contributing or have a part to play on any character. You can be a levelling blaster on a team full of judgment nukes. You can be a controller on an AV fight. You can be a scrapper on the BAF escape scene. You can be a tanker on a team with two brutes and a mastermind. You can be a brute on the Apex TF. You can be a mastermind levelling through Sharkhead. There are one of two things you can do. You can say 'these things happen' and hope for greener pastures ahead. Or you can dip into the game's huge pool of content and do something else.
