  1. It's a frantic search during absolute chaos in a rapidly devolving scenario. It should have a timer. You're not even supposed to be there. It should be challenging. You're a low level hero working with Daniels doing hero work and he goes missing. You go find him. That is a logical story. To say there was no logical story is baseless. It was very clearly explained what you were doing in short paragraphs with small words.
  2. Just to clarify... This is difficult content. If you don't like difficult content, you shouldn't play it. I explained it was difficult in the description. I marked it as challenging. I gave extra warnings in the post here. The description literally says that the heroes are in over their heads. Some people prefer challenging content. Sorry if this seems repetitive, but I never imagined that someone could see a mission marked challenging, click it, ,then give it a low rating because it was challenging. I don't know how to make this more clear and I would like to avoid wasting anyone's time.
  3. This has been a great resource. Thank you for doing this. It's not only saved me a lot of time, it's given me more ideas!
  4. Arc ID: 65609 Galaxy Schmalaxy: Constellation Row Level 10-20 Alignment: Rogue (Unless you're very careful) Challenging, Story Focused Content designed for solo or small groups of street-level heroes WARNING: Difficult Alignment Choices "During the attack on Galaxy City, a group of new heroes narrowly escaped with their lives. They were told to go find work that was appropriate for their security level. Most of them were happy to let the Phalanx handle the meteors and the monsters, but some are still fighting to get back in. [SFMA]" WARNING: The first room is especially hazardous. There are targetable bystanders and cops, so be careful if alignment is important to you. Stealth and staying out of the crossfire is helpful. You can avoid the Trolls and police The final mission is a bit of a deconstruction and hopefully a more realistic take on what a mission like this would look like. You are given a lot of freedom to choose, with only 2 required objectives. The boss fights are hard and death is likely, though they can be avoided. Also, since the last mission is timed, I also put out a version with that mission by itself and the optional objectives given more clues and explanation. This is in case anyone particularly enjoys it or wants to try and find all the hostages, but doesn't want to do the first two missions in the arc. It's Arc ID 65610 and is called Constellation Row (Finale Mission Only, Challenge Mode)
  5. That is really helpful feedback, @ZamuelNow thank you so much. I definitely need to rework the issue you mentioned with treating a character like they are stupid. I really want the player to understand that Forager is stupid, not them lol. I tried to turn him into the world's worst contact, but I put a lot of that burden on the player rather than the character. I'm pulling back on all the trickery and cutesy stuff with the nav bar. I am definitely trying to subvert too many things at a time for my first arc. I also am going to make it much more obvious and impactful when it's used for radio chatter. It's a trick, so I shouldn't abuse it. I am blown away by how insightful and useful all the feedback has been so far. Am I even on the internet?
  6. I reach too far. That's what the box is for and I should use it as such. I'm burdening the player trying to be cute.
  7. So, imply... harder. This is all really great feedback. My goal is to make the most detailed story possible with as little reading as possible. I wonder if I'm underestimating the average players stomach for reading... but then again the players doing ae arcs are probably not the average.
  8. Can you give me a specific instance where the contact being vague impeded the gameplay? Like an objective that you didn't understand? Part of the plot is that your contact doesn't seem to be very helpful... that's intentional, but I didn't want it to be actually confusing. Maybe I need to lay it on a little thicker? It's been really difficult, as the writer, to look at my own writing and imagine how someone could be confused because of course I know what I meant. My hope is the character feels something about being kept in the dark. Either "Ugh... this guy is the worst..." or perhaps they're a reject as well and are like "screw it, let's ride around and blow stuff up" or perhaps they decide to just use Forager until they can figure out what's going on for themselves. The details are meant to be sparse in the story, but not the gameplay. I'll keep polishing that. As for the boss, that seems exactly how a boss fight should be, to me anyway. If you're talking about the scientist, there's no ambushes. That's just what he does. If you're talking about the mu guardian, it's not that many ambushes. If you die a time or two and need inspirations, the boss is definitely working as intended. Thank you so much for the time and detail in your feedback.
  9. Thanks a lot for taking the time to check it out.
  10. Forager being vague and unhelpful is part of the story, but I didn't intend for him to be actually vague and unhelpful. Sorry about that. Of course... I thought it was all very clear... because I wrote it. My intention was to keep the mission intro as short as possible and then drive the plot through the objective window and the action. I thought glancing up at radio traffic while fighting would not only be more fun then reading paragraphs, it felt more realistic Maybe clue text could smooth it over a bit, since the clues at least ding and give a notification. I'll think on that. I tried to lay it on thick without being corny, but the window is not meant to really be a puzzle or "hints." It's meant to be taken very literally. Thank you for the feedback. I'll see if a few more people return similar experiences.
  11. I'm sorry. What did the objective window say? My best guess based on what you're saying is that one of the Clockwork from the boss spawn got loose on that map. The "only boss" option doesn't seem to function or I would almost always use it. The Arachnos are an optional sidequest from Daniels. When you finish the clockwork you just have to go find where you parked.
  12. Edit: Arc removed for major work. Thank you all for the extremely useful feedback.
  13. I don't have any input on AT or powersets... but I just want to say that I think it's very cool that you are taking your epic choice seriously and making it fit with the character thematically. Sometimes I wonder if I'm alone with all my little just-for-me choices, which I guess you could call headcannon. My beam rifle/willpower sentinel is a regular guy, and also somewhat bitter and prejudiced toward super powered heroes... when he took dark mastery and void judgment, it was a big deal. I don't RP, but I play my characters "lore accurate" so he only uses these powers when he's alone or a team is in serious trouble. It's a mark of shame for him... which makes the game more interesting for me. Thanks for your post. I always assume other people just pick whatever looks cool or hits hard... so it feels good to know other people approach the game this way.
  14. Isn't there a little goopy thing that gives a badge?
  15. I've had the same experience with rocky starts... they end up being the most fun by the end, or maybe it's like Stockholm Syndrome
  16. This is super interesting... I only play in pick up groups and also play my blaster waaaaay out front so I can mess things up before the team can mess things up. If I was playing on a team with actual synergy, maybe I would stick around... but is that fun?
  17. Ooh... a true support player! That sounds like a completely different game than the one I play. It's like you're playing a RTS but using humans.
  18. I figured that probably makes a huge difference. I've not really played a support class, so I've always been pretty target focused... and I just keep the team's health bars in the corner of my eye.
  19. How much of your teammates activity are you aware of? Does it depend on your character? Do you only notice when they mess something up or do you also notice when they do something well? I would guess that the average player is not paying very much attention to what others are doing.
  20. Anyway... This isn't exactly what we need and it's not complete, but this is pretty useful. It's a forum post of a hunting guide for defeat badges, which is helpful. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/14591-how-and-where-to-hunt-defeat-badge-guide/
  21. Vidiotmaps does not give you a list of locations where you can find a certain enemy type. It gives you what enemy types are in the zone you're in. OP needs the former. He also replied to several people who made the same error that you have made trying to explain that wasn't what he asked for, and how that wouldn't solve his problem. If you still don't understand... how about this. I havea mission that tells me "Defeat 50 Drudges." I'm not sure where the best place to find them is. No problem. I have vidiotmaps, and @Frozen Burnsays this will solve my problem. How do I use vidiotmaps to solve this problem?
  22. I'm gonna necro it again. As was stated several times in the thread, vidiotmaps doesn't solve the problem. "Lol"
  23. My heroes are always scrappy underdogs and my villains are always impossibly powerful, heartless maniacs. In fiction, I guess my heroes win? It doesn't make sense really, but isn't that how it always works.
  24. You can also just type /stuck in a base and it will yoink you back to the entry room.
  25. Metro Plaza on Everlasting (GO-28888) is absolutely stunning. The custom details, in particular the piano, are beautiful.
