  1. Teleport. "Meanwhile...back at the ranch...." Poof! You're there.
  2. I logged in just to post what a terrible joke that is. :D
  3. Been messing around with the goblin design. Went for a little bit of a more archaic design. Not super happy with the armor colors, but everything else looked worse. Sometimes I swear....as good as the character creator is, I kind of wish there were a few more options. Some costume pieces just not being available with certain sets gets annoying.
  4. So far in Homecoming Ive tried: Elec/Rad controller which I felt was just too slow for my tastes. Pistols/Rad Armor Sentinel. Faster, but something is just unsatisfying about the gameplay. Now I'm currently on a Savage/Willpower Brute that, so far, really seems right up my alley. If it ends up not panning out, Im looking at maybe a corruptor. I don't know.
  5. Someone in the game suggested "Grinning Goblin", which has a nice ring to it.
  6. I've never used the psionic melee before Homecoming, so I don't really have a point of reference. But last weekend I leveled one up to around 14 or so. And there IS something wonky about the power set. The animations themselves are mostly fine, but the activation of them is delayed, or doesn't start consistently on the same frames. I thought it was just latency due to weekend traffic overloading the servers, or something similar. But now that you mention it, maybe it's something else?
  7. Dang...those are really good! I honestly thought your costume entry would place in the contest when I saw it in the thread.
  8. Some more variations on ideas I had with an Angel/Demon theme. Dark or Fallen angel. This was my costume contest submission. A villain demon. Btw guys, feel free to steal or use anything I post for yoir own costume ideas. Modify or get inspired to create your own. Or hit me up with a concept and I'll see if I can't help you out.
  9. I have to express disappointment at their choices for winners. The first is just a standard skintight suit with a cape and mask. Except for the contrasting black and red it's the same as a thousand other costumes. The second one is the only one I appreciate due to the complexity of the costume, and creative use of the crab backpack to create the artist's version of Kali. The third is just Malificient. Ok...great character...if you're Disney. But zero creativity is needed to copy an existing character's appearance. Also...maybe not the best idea to promote a copyrighted character while operating servers of questionable legality. Especially Disney, who are hardcore sticklers about that sort of thing. And before anyone calls me out for jealousy or whatever: It's not that the first and third costumes don't look good. It's just that there's nothing really special about them. I'd be curious to know what criteria was used to choose the winners.
  10. I think that the specific costume piece of capes should be locked behind the original mission at level 20, as an homage and rite of passage. Other back pieces, especially wings, should be available from creation, since it's often a key part of the overall appearance. You could say the same thing about capes in very specific instances, but for the most part I think it's not quite as vital.
  11. Man, I'd LOVE to have the option to combine the Brute/Scrapper melee with controller/corruptor secondary sets. Or controller primary with melee secondary armors.
  12. Dual pistol/Rad Armor sentinel in the picture, although I suppose any power set could technically apply. After I locked on to the theme of the costume, I was thinking some sort of alternate dimension hero who(despite being somewhat ugly to humans) is very debonair and dashing. A swashbuckling Errol Flynn type that defeats opponents with wit and courtesy and flashy moves. Which fits the pistols move set and sparkly rad armor.
  13. I tried it, but the color isn't exactly the same, and the shorts look weird. So I tried to make it look as though the clawed feet had a body suit to match the gloves and under-layer of the body.
  14. BTW, the above originated from this costume. I was trying to make a jump-trooper/tech-soldier. Then I started messing with the helmet, and....that's where it lead. :D
  15. Ok guys, so I went a little nuts with the character creator. This is totally not what I set out to create, but the pieces of the outfit just started to fall in place, so I had to run with it. I REALLY need a good name for this hero/villain. Help me out?
  16. This is something that really only matters if you're trying to go crazy with min/maxing. But it seems to me that some powersets have excessively long animations for certain abilities. A good example is dual pistols. Like....holy crap does it look cool, but when you're trying to do good DPS, it kind of sucks when your hero spends most of his/her time twirling the damn pistols and firing an excessive amount of rounds. Whereas something like Ice Blast is mostly VERY short and utilitarian animations. So...my question is this: Do you think this makes a difference? Is this just my personal perception, and damage of each power is taken into account with how long its animation takes? Or what?
  17. I think it might be useful to understand why you might think a build is not viable after a few levels. What you need to know is that City of Heroes/Villains is a bit of an older style MMO that doesn't hold your hand. Builds can be very complex, especially if you want to fully Min/Max. A lot depends on which powers you take at each level, and which powers you improve with additional enhancement slots. All combined with what enhancements at what enhancement level. It's quite a bit more complex than it first appears.
  18. See my Force Fielder's Bible in the Defender guide section for an example of how to do alternating macros/binds. If I understand correctly, the method in tjat guide should work with any two powers that have a target, right? Instead of the two different forcefields you use on an ally, I could edit the macro to use two offensive powers(presumably with similar cooldowns to avoid confusion)?
  19. On the topic of macros: Is it possible to create a macro that will use powers in sequence? Or to alternate between two powers? Im trying to cut down on both the number of buttons on each bar.
  20. I've been looking for something similar. Doing my own research on the various powersets. Granted, I haven't played these at all, so it's possible there's pitfalls I'm not aware of, like heavy END usage. Some of these powersets didn't even exist when I stopped playing. Water Blast: Water Burst, Whirlpool, Geyser are all AOE attacks, with burst and geyser both having pretty "impactful" animation. Corrupter and Blaster get Water Burst and Whirlpool early. Fire Manipulation for Blaster secondary powers has some nice melee-range AOE powers with fairly flashy animations. Savage Melee has a leap for AOE and Rending Flurry for AOE, with Shred for a cone. Lots of AOE if you don't want to take Shield Defense(Shields are super cool-looking tho). Although this set has the downside of not getting those AOE attacks until the end of the power set.
  21. Thanks for posting that. So much theorycrafting got lost from the official forums, it's hard to track down number crunching info dumps anymore.
  22. You have to remember that there are a lot more costume options available right at creation. I don't remember seeing many of these costume pieces, and I know it let me make some far more complex costumes. Im just disappointed I could only post one.
  23. There were a lot of really good ones. It wouldn't surprise me if it took a little bit to determine which is the winner.
