Tbh there isn't much point aiming for high def with Dark armour. You would end up sacrificing too much dmg and not even end up with a decent amount of def.

How does spiritual lower the proc rates?

It's pretty beastly. Very expensive though.

@DocMidknight this is kind of a mixed bag really. I think you would be better aiming for either higher resistance or higher def instead of trying for a mix of both as with those levels neither would help a great deal. You are quite far off perma hasten which is quite easy to remedy on a dom. The version of Sleet that is available to Dominators is pretty ineffectual and the -res doesn't always trigger/doesn't last the full duration of the power. Also i'm pretty certain procs do not work in rain type powers despite what some others say. Water Spout would be a better bet unfortunately. You could drop a slot in Sleet and put it in Shadow field then slots 5 Unbreakable constraint which will yield you a bit more rech time. Just some observations.

How about a dark/Psi? dont really have any spare slots for dark blast if i want to maintain the high rech and defenses. Living shadows has more uptime overall than shadow field and can pump out more dps. Whilst Shadow Field is great the recharge time on it is just too high to warrant using it. the 3 IO in hasten was there just to push it to max recharge.

So in the end i went for dark/dark/soul, below is my build: The def is a bit less than what your have but i have managed to squeeze in Arcane bolt and enflame which do pretty decent damage. Dark Servant is always getting into melee range so just slap it on him and watch the procs smash through. Arcane bolt is great as well to get the force feedback +rech proc in which goes off pretty regularly. Great set of builds! Really pushed to have great Def on all builds. I build mine more to utilize procs overall and forgo some of the def but try to at least maintain 45% S/L. On the /cold side with Infrigidate have you ever tried the Shield Breaker proc? Tried in on the beta server for 30 mins and never saw it proc once but Impeded Swiftness and Lady Grey proc every time. Odd. I think I'm aiming more towards /cold or /storm at this point. As i said in my first post i have A LOT of dark affinity/miasma Water/dark corr grav/dark troller elec/dark troller ill/dark troller dark/psi def there are a few haha. Which has you had the most success on/do you use most often? I see on your dark/cold you have Diamagnetic Radial Flawless Interface, does the -regen stack up much? thanks!

I'm wanting to build a dark troller that can smash through most content and take down AVs and GMs but i am so torn on the secondary. I have quite a few Dark Affinity/Miasma characters as its easily one of my favourite sets. It's very defensive but offers great debuffs and comes online early unlike Cold and Storm which blossom at the end which can make doing those early lvl TF's somewhat of a pain but that's beside the point. /dark has: - ST AoE heal - AoE -res - AoE -dmg & -tohit - Aoe -Regen +rez - PBAoE +def - PBAoE +regen & +rec - Pet /cold has: - ST -rech &- def - Aoe -rech, -res, -def - Aoe -res, +End, +Rec - ST -dmg, -regen /Storm has: - Aoe -rech, -res, -def - Aoe -tohit - Dmg pet, -def - Dmg pet TBH I'm not even sure how storm fairs against an AV these days. I know back in the day Storm/dark defenders could take them on but not sure if that has changed at all. Cold is obviously very popular when paired with Illusion these days so that is certainly viable. Realistically they are all viable, its just a case of which is the most effective. I went with Vigor Core for the end reduction and extra acc. Ultimately when getting to t3 alpha the character would effectively be lvl 51 but all the extra acc will ensure the AV is hit when running at +4/x8. Reactive for the -res (not sure if its the best choice), and Clarion for the status protection. Also id really rather stick to these 3 as neither traps or TA appeal to be at all. Time doesnt have enough to content with an AV really, i already have a rad/dark def and rad is so blegh these days. After years of ill/rad it gets old! thanks!

How would this hold up against an AV?

So i have put this together as i would build it myself. You have capped S/L res at 75% No defence to speak of as its pretty pointless. You recharge is at 135.5 secs but with the Force Feedback: Chance for +recharge proc in Electron haze that will boost it considerably. I have put in as many dmg procs as possible to maximise your dps. So even in powers like Envenom and Weaken which are your bread & butter they still have the chance of outputting some dps. Paralytic Poison is a decent hold for the set and again can use procs for dps. Poison trap is a must have power with this set as its dps potential is huge and its on a very short recharge time. i dropped assault as its kind of blegh and took tactics instead as the overall ACC is pretty low, it is also slotted with Gaussian's Synchronized Fire-Control: Chance for Build Up. This will trigger so many times and up your dps quite nicely. Consume isnt its best version from the Flame Mastery set as its still at 111 sec rech and only offers +end and no +recovery like its other iterations. But char is great single target hold that again hits like a truck when loaded with procs correctly. So after my previous post I have since gone back and revised the build somewhat: here are the defences and resistance. Though with those level of defence is it worth even putting the slots into it? I have gone with Cardiac Core Paragon to help with the serious end issues along with Ageless Core Epiphany later on. Dark Regeneration is slotted with Theft of Essence: Chance for +Endurance which will hopefully proc regularly and help early on. Oppressive Gloom i have slotted with Perfect Zinger: Chance for Psi Dmg whether it will work or not who knows - though if anyone actually knows and can say that will be great! If it doesn't work I will just swap it out for something else. Hmm good to know. The only problem is trying to get to the 90% resistance cap on a brute.

Looking at making a Rad/Dark Armor character but I've never had a melee archetype so not sure whether to build it as a scrapper or a brute. definitely an interesting take on the poison build. I shall have to compare and see. Melee core is definitely a good idea plus all that regen will help with the lack of self healing from poison!
