  1. Here's an opinion that should annoy *everyone*:

When I first saw toggle suppression, I thought, "Jeez!  Why do the devs have to dumb down *everything*?"

Then I saw the 8 second rule and thought, "Oh, that's fair then, a quality of life issue that basically offsets the time you would otherwise take."  There are plenty of times that my toggle drops and I don't even *notice* it for ten seconds.  If I am mezzed, then usually my first few seconds are getting away to safety; I'm probably not going to spend the next 2.68 seconds reinstating my toggles.  I mean, if you don't want to get mezzed in the first place, there are plenty of ways to make that happen.  Higher ranged defense, break frees, power choices, etc.

So now, everyone seems to be taking this gift and haggling over price.  No mom, I want TWO lollipops!  I get it that the devs want to provide a gift that is relatively balanced.  8 seconds seems reasonable to me.  Maybe 7.8 seconds.  Or 8.2.

Serious suggestion:  can you make this an option for players to opt into?  Default is how things currently are, and opting in gives you toggle suppression with however long a cool down as the devs decide?

  2. Ok, I've made my payments, and selected my choices, both for the "best" eight elimination bracket and the "also ran" bracket of four.  Since effectively choosing twelve is equivalent to eliminating two, I'm taking Willpower and Regeneration off the table.  I really enjoy both of these power sets, but neither one has extraordinary synergy with any particular primary.  Willpower is set and forget and Regeneration is push a lot of buttons, and I'd like to explore a bit instead.  Frankly, I think Willpower is *boring!* and I *really* like Regen, but that's probably a snobbery thing to be honest.  Anyway the top eight:

Bio Armor:  Oh yeah, I really love Bio for so many reasons.

Energy Aura:  I see why it's so good, but I can't "see" my costume, so that gives me a little pause.

Shield Defense:  Like  said, I have a slight bias against click-to-activate mez protection.  I doubt I'll use a macro, so I'll probably skip Hasten on this build.

Super Reflexes:  I also find this *boring* but the people have spoken!

Radiation Armor:  Currently my second favorite behind Bio.

    Invulnerability:  Always a solid choice.

Ninjitsu:  Not very familiar with this one, so there may be a bit of a learning curve.

Dark Armor:  I can't see my costume here either but I don't care as much!  This set is awesome and versatile, but hungry!

    The "also rans"

Stone Armor:  I like it a lot, and need to get over the graphics.

Electric Armor:  Wonderful on brutes, I need to make it work better on my scrappers.

Ice Armor:  I actually really enjoy this, and there is a strong similarity to Energy Aura in my eyes.

    Fiery Aura:  Just plain fun!

    Stay tuned for Phase 2!

I want to play getting vet levels and EMP merits in AE.   Can I do that?

Well, if you enjoy the action of farming, the good news is that the new aggro system appears that it will make it even easier!  If you enjoy the getting of vet levels and EMP merits easily, it appears you will have to find a different way.  Again, I'm reserving judgment until I hear what the devs overall purpose is.

I don't especially hate/love the AE changes. The reason for my post was just to reassure players that they can still use fire farms in AE to farm influence, powerlevel from 1-50, and unlock incarnate slots. (Only thing that's been removed is vet levels.)

I haven't read all ten pages of this thread, and frankly this change won't affect me a bit, but AA's comment is dead on.  AE Farming hasn't been removed -- only one specific aspect of it has.  If you like farming, keep farming!  You'll get lots of goodies still.  Play how you want to play!

I know the devs said this isn't a thread for speculating on motives, and I'm looking forward to reading their digest when it comes out.  I suspect that it has a lot to do with AFK farming (which they have stated was something they were against).  Emp merits (normally gained with vet play) convert to reward merits and (I think) can produce inf very quickly when compared to inf generation through defeats and selling drops.  But I'm no expert.

  5. It's listed in 2-star and 3-star and 4-star!  Who knows what they will actually implement?!

No, now is the time for us to throw off the shackles of our fat cat Big Confuse overlord flippers and bring the prices of their nefarious niches down to earth.  From Befuddling Aura to Malaise's Illusions, none shall be spared!! (Except the purples, those are good.)

    • Haha 1
  6. Also, with this:

    • All enemy classes have inherent magnitude 10 Confuse protection.

    I'm selling, Selling, SELLING CONFUSE!!!

And I'm putting a hold on making my Psi Melee/Ninjitsu scrapper with double confuse/boggle.

  7. Ok, I paid out people, made my own vote, and have made my decisions for the next phase.  They largely match the popular vote (although not completely).

Claws -- I'm not sure I've ever played a claws scrapper to 50, but I do have a fun 50 claws/fire stalker that would have been a unicorn once upon a time.  I'm gonna have to either skip the flip animation power, or reconcile myself to it.

Dark Melee -- I really didn't like what they did to Shadow Maul but this set is too good to pass over.  I've got a lvl 50 DM/regen that I enjoyed a lot.

Energy Melee -- Another very popular play.  I haven't spent much time on it on a scrapper but have a 50 Bio/Energy tanker that might be my strongest alt.

Katana/Broadsword -- I'm going to lump these two together and make my final choice based on what secondary I end up with.  I know, I know, there is a DPA/DPS/DPwhatever difference between the two sets, but I just plain like broadsword.  My namesake has been a BS/Invuln scrapper that I've been tinkering with since Live, and I've got brutes at 50 with regen and bio.

War Mace -- This is just too good to pass on.  I have an early 50 scrapper WM/Dark Armor that I found very effective although endurance heavy, and my 50 brute WM/Willpower has always been boringly good.

Martial Arts -- Completely new to this, and I don't think I have a MA alt higher than 30.  I'm excited!

Staff Fighting -- Almost all of my early 50s on Homecoming were staff, and I liked it least on the scrapper.  But times change, and I've got a much better grip on builds and mechanics so let's look at this with fresh eyes, shall we?  50s in Staff/Bio in all 4 melee flavors, staff/regen and staff/fire brutes.

Dual Blades -- Also new to this one.  Messed around with a few but never committed to it.  Also excited!

Now, I'm also going to have a "also-ran" bracket of four flavors, because that's how I roll.  I'm not looking for the "worst" combos, but the best of the unpopular ones.

Stone Melee -- So very much mitigation.  So very slow.  So very endurance heavy.  So fun!  My 50 stone/rad scrapper levelled to fast I hardly remember how I played him.

Savage Melee -- New to me as well.  I passed on it since I don't really love the telenuke, but I'm starting to come around on this on some of the scrappers I've been trying out with it.

Street Justice -- Also new.  Gotta try it at some point, so why not now?

Radiation Melee -- Slow slow slow, slow but it's a killer.  My 50 rad/dark scrapper and rad/bio brutes are immensely powerful.

Honorable mention:  Ice, which even without ice swords makes a really fun experience. Also Battle Axe!  But War Mace is just plain better, except for weapon skins!

Next, I'll work on the secondaries, and then come back to you all for advice on matchings and seedings.  Excelsior!

  8. Take your power sets, then come up with a bad pun that involves them both, ideally.

I just made a ice/stone scrapper.  He was a world class chef until he accidentally ingested 4S ("Super Secret Soldier Serum") when the Council invaded his restaurant as two international agents were making an exchange.  Hilarity and mayhem ensued.

    Say hello to Quiche Moraine!

I can imagine that converters might see a slight increase in price, but nothing else might majorly change.

But I'm surprised this is what caught your attention and not that now is the perfect time to loot controller and dom ATOs to flip when the new powersets hit live.

Actually, no, don't pay attention to that. Forget I mentioned it.

Until or unless they fix being able to freely and quickly open packs and retrieve items from Character Items, my involvement in ATOs will be relatively low for me.  Besides, I wouldn't be surprised if I have an alt somewhere that owns a couple hundred of these things that I bid 3-4mm on at some point!

  10. Keep in mind that DA is +melee defense and +lethal defense.  In my mind it will work better with a positional defensive system (like SR or ninjitsu) than with a typed defense (like Willpower's defensive powers) since it only covers one of the lethal/smashing duo.

  11. The one that hits me is:

Architect Entertainment [Focused Feedback: Architect Entertainment]

    • Characters at Level 50 can no longer earn experience towards the Veteran Level rewards (Veteran Badges, Incarnate Threads, and Empyrean Merits) from Architect Entertainment content; this does not apply to Incarnate Slot Experience which can still be earned in AE.
    • This change does not apply to Developer's Choice arcs, which have always gives full rewards and will continue to do so.
    • Fixed a bug with Experience Boosters granting too much experience in non-Dev Choice AE missions. 1.5XP was giving double XP and 2XP was giving triple XP. These have been corrected to the intended 1.5x and 2x, respectively.

Is this the end of Zombie Shakespeare AE farming?

  12. I rarely play tankers for a couple of reasons, but the main one is that I never feel I'm at risk unless I made a particularly crappy build.  And if I'm not at risk, I might as well be playing solitaire (and cheating at it!).

I was just curious. It's no secret that there are some market plays going on with uncommon salvage, pvp IOs and LotG 7.5%, and probably other areas I don't really look at routinely.

Below are some screenshots over the past 3 days, in the AM upon my logging in.
Obviously, there's a key metric missing - # of sales in the past unit of time (week, day, hour) These would be useful, certainly, but I think the AH has quite enough to do as is, even though I'd love to see it.

How much attention are you paying to demand when you slap your 100's of Achilles Heel debuff procs in the market?
I sometimes find myself tempted to make 4-5 SGs with nothing but storage and buy all the LOTG's in game - just to clear out the old inventory from folks that may never play again. That's quite an inf-sink, and it's not like I wouldn't eventually use at least most of them.

But..1000 slots, rule of 5...I think 5k would be as many as I'd ever need.

It's interesting to me, as over the past three days, the # of the LotG's have increased by about 100 each day. Bidding seems to be close to the same. Granted, it's just now the weekend, so demand should pick up a little bit, I'd think.

Do you ask yourself how many players are making new characters each day? Are you taking note of the various server loads to get a clue? Or do you just slap 'em in, and hope for the best? I generally sell my lotg for about 6, and hope they overbid and I get more.
I read that somewhere in here is someone who stated they still sell them for 7M and while the sale isn't instant, they never have to wait for more than a day. I wonder if that's still the case. Obviously, these screenies are just one moment in time in the morning, and in the evenings they may sell for 2x what I'm looking at. No idea.

What's your process in assessing demand?

I guess I owe you a better answer than that.

I'm generally not going to toss 100s of an item on the /AH unless I feel pretty good that I can sell it by the next time I log in.  Specifically, my Achilles Heel alt gets logged in about once a week!

I do ask myself how many players are making alts, and occasionally I will lock down a market to get an idea as to how many I can expect to move in a day.  I'm happy to say that it feels like there is more demand nowadays than there was a few months ago.  But the real issue is going to be supply, since there is an infinite amount of it.

Let's look at LotG, which I have to accept some blame for.  Now for a long time, I have been heavily involved in what I call the defense complex.  I generally have the lowest cost to create just about anything through recipes like Karma or Serendipity or whatever.  Yet I cannot stop anyone from making profitable LotG recharges from any random lvl 25 recipe in bulk.  That's random, and I tip my hat to those people because it's frankly mind numbing work that gets them what they want --  inf!

The macro event that is causing me the most grief, however, is the hang up on opening super packs and claiming items from Character Items.

I don't sell converters for 70K. I use them to convert other things and make even more than the 70K. If I'm not making a million/converter as an example, that's a bad deal on my end.

Considering you can buy three converters for 1mm inf (via merits), you're in the black!

  15. 5 hours ago, DarknessEternal said:

I specifically meant how are you using the UI to buy 100 random rare IOs.  Leaving bids on every IO in the game?

That's one way to go, and I've done that before.  If you check back to see which bids fill the quickest, you have a better target of things that no one else wants.

  16. It being the 4th of July, I pulled out one of my MERICA! alts, a broadsword/regen brute who I had dinged 50 with a while back.  I ran the Mender arc to get my alpha and it was a slog.  So I spent a little time actually working on the build.  And I discovered something that I am embarrassed that I haven't exploited before:  Darkest Night is monstrously overowered.  I play almost all scrappers nowadays, so I wasn't familiar with it.  But sure as Shipoopi, I'm walking through +4/x8 missions and neither my blue bars or green bars are moving one bit.

  17. I just put this together quickly for a scrapper.  No idea how it would play because *I HATE ELEMENTAL SWORDS!!!*
