  1. So true. There are so many camps, surely most anything players find fun for any portion of the game would probably be a good addition for multiple playstyles...perhaps I am just too accepting. Hopefully as these threads occur, to your point, volunteers that like to make the type of content that seems to be desired could get inspiration, no doubt, and be encouraged that their efforts would be appreciated. On the other hand, it would be really nice to know what the dev team thinks it's capable of doing, and then having the player base chime in based on that. I know that would certainly put things in perspective.
  2. I want whatever anyone is inspired to create, not what they are told by someone else... Really good creative output comes from inspiration, unhindered by constraints, IME. Let whomever make whatever they are really inspired to make. It is possible for someones desire to spark the creative output of another, so talking about what we like is just fine, but I will still prefer what someone is really insired to create, IME, over what the plan or the group decide they want. I guess I am sayig, don't force any of it, let it happen on it's own and IMO that will be a better result.
  3. Dominators all the way for me in this regard. I get to lock it all down and I get to melt it once it's locked down. Nothing feels more powerful than Domninators to me, they have spoiled me.
  4. And I still think 'most everyone', in this context, is, in fact, too broad a brush, regardless of the haste with which I reply, which is I guess the answer to my question: I always try to do what makes me happy, but thanks for the encouragement anyway, always good to get positive feedback!
  5. Not so much when I play CoH though, I hate that skin-sticking-to-furniture feeling...
  6. Applies to 'most everyone' as well - it is still a very narrow outlook to assume 'most everyone' thinks and acts the way you do, IMO. The pedantry kicks in when you expect other players to not kill pixels in a way other than the prescribed manner, that 'most everyone' follows, IMO... It appears you want to make me look 'unsensible' or otherwise 'absurd' in some way, simpy because of a percieved PoV that I am somehow a terrible teammate or something. Anything else I am doing wrong in my life you would like to correct me over?
  7. Exactly? Why would you think from any of my posts I don't follow 'general common sense sociability rules' when on a team? I will not, however, change the way I choose to play the game just because there are people in the world that don't like it. Also, you make a HUGE assuption on 'everyone'. The world is a really big place. We did not all grow up in the same environements. One persons 'common sense sociability' is another persons anxiety and another persons personal insult. We do not all have the same outlooks and to imply that we do shows a very tiny world view, IMO. It is so funny to me to get this much static over expressing the opinion I can play the game the way I prefer. Someone just has to be the villian though, right?
  8. So you have some 'house rules' list someplace of things no one is allowed to do in case it might cause team wipes? Really? Now we have to follow some imaginary, pie in the sky vision of perfect team play that follows your rules? What seems clear to me is that there are a whole lot of people that forgot, or never learned, how to relax and have fun. As I have stated over and over, If the team does not fit, I simply leave. No drama, no fuss. The moment anyone brings in the unneeded 'house rules' drama, I simply leave the team. Life is too short, my real playtime is too short, to allow other people to harsh my buzz. They have the same coded tools as everyone else, it's all about how they choose to treat each other that matters to me. If that treatment involves whining about things like GF and KB, those people, IMO, are simply too uptight for me to want to hang out with them. Doubtful. The wife and I decided no cameras in the house, she feels like she is being watched and I am naked far too often. It is always amusing to me though that some people simply cannot grasp the fact someone like me exists...a person that simply likes to relax and have fun over taking the pixels seriously. Generally the following implication is that I am lying, because in thier eyes, no one can remain that up-beat or something. Of course things happen in the game that make me ARG!, but in the big picture, I just laugh and cheer on the last teammate standing as we all wipe. Not everyone that plays MMOs is a person that thinks it's all a race or a job.
  9. As I have stated, over and over, no one person should in any way be making other in the team dance to thier tune. However, you bring up the team 'goal'. My only goal is to have fun killing pixels and laughing. Therfore, any team that is defeating enemies is fun for me, even if we are getting wiped. IME, all of these arguments boil down to what, in fact, the 'goal' really is... IME, the goal for people that complain about these things is getting the maximum rewards or DPS. So, again, whos goal is more important? If the goal is to beat the content, then how is using powers that beat the content an issue? I mean, that is the only real goal in terms of getting rewards, beating the content. IME, it's the people that simply cannot abide having the flow of the team go exactly the way they want it to go that start adding these 'house rules'. They bring on the issues, not a player just having fun with KB, a fundamental part of the game.
  10. I try to see the face value and the deeper intent, as the meta is all that matters to me. As I stated, how we treat each other is all that matters in my delusion. Motivations as to why humans choose to take out thier 'aggresions/stress/FUD' on other players in MMOs fascinates me.
  11. So, you intorduce the idea of censuring the player, right out of the gate, for using AoE KB, when you see it, giving the whole team the idea? Really, that's how I read that. The moment you see it happen, you bring it up as if it's a problem, or because you 'know' it's a 'problem' because of your cliche. How is that not a militant, negative stance on it? How is that not an automatic effort to censure a player over it? You see it happen and then automatically assume a stance that it is a problem...that you will ignore if no one else agrees...but a problem none the less, to you and your cliche. To me, you have a mental list of unwritten rules and if other break those rules, they need to be censured.
  12. Sure, that rubs both ways though. I tried an Kinetics/Energy blast defender back in the day ... even I am not that much of a masochist. The whole point IMO is that no one is 'right'. Both players are just trying to have fun using thier powers. It's how we choose to interact with other players, IMO, that defines who we are as humans. Just as I won't try and screw up AoEs with KB, I won't tell the KB player to stop, I will just race them to the next group. The moment someone talks about doing anything 'efficiently' on anything other than a dedicated speed run of some kind, they turn the game into a job or a task, not super-happy-fun-time, IMO. As soon as people add arbitrary 'rules' and start talking about kicking players, they become bosses rather than leaders. There are very few humans that do, in fact put the needs of others or the group first, that is human nature. Science has proven even the most altruistic people really just do it for the dopamine anyway. Humans are selfish creatures.
  13. So you don't, in fact, berate and kick people for GF or AoE KB? Seems a lot like that has been your whole schtick. Are you going to tell me with a straight face that if a majority of the group besides you do not bring up these things, and you are the leader, that you would not, in fact, kick them for not following your rules, when a clear majority of the team is not on your side? Will you just kick them all? I mean, if we are going to make up use cases, we need to explore them all, right? Do you, in fact, take a vote, or do you just 'decide'? I mean, if you are going to go Vulkan, go all the way...fully use Logic over Emotion...why not pour over the exact composition of each team for each encounter and make the most logically sounds choice of prescribing how each person uses each power, in the best order, to kill the enemy the right way, everytime? Why pick and choose over when to tout Logic over Emotion? Why not take a vote for every choice, if the needs of the many are more important, is it not the star holder repsosibility to do what the teams wants, not what the star holder desires?
  14. So, show me where I have advocated 'pissing off the entire team' - you like to call out strawmen, here is yours. If there is a person on a team that does not like a power being used, then they can leave the team. If I see I am on a team that plays in a way that is not fun for me, I leave. Additionally, as I stated previously, the Startator does not 'own' the team, IMO, the entire idea comes from a controlling mindset IME. You continue to make some wild assuption that just because I don't think people should be villified for using powers in the game, that I will run around and use those powers just to tick them off, because, IMO, I call those people dicktators and startators ... it's hilarious. No one that plays this game has to dance to the tune of anyone else that plays the game, full stop. Do the tools exist to allow these controling players to actually be Startators? Yup. Therefore, Startators are implicitly allowed in the game code, the tools are there, just as the powers in game that piss off the Startators exist. Some people choose to implement arbitrary restictions in-game on teams and have kick lists, to insure maximum rewards per minute. Some people choose to roll with what the teams brings and enjoy the ride, laughing and relaxing. As the poster above mentions, the game is big enough for all. That does not change the fact that I think the controlling players are silly and mean. All that matters is how we treat each other...I choose to accept and adapt, not control and kick.
  15. KD/KB - You were running a PB, you rmain I think. As for the rest, call it hat you like, deride it however makes you feel better, my viewpoint remains...some people just like to be bossy and controlling. So what if I inject other ideas and thoughts? IMO, they are all inter-related and this is not some court of law or formal debate. Your driving need to punish me for perceived slights is amusing as always, especially the 'bad' digs...isn't that from like Barrens Chat in WoW, the whole 'bads' thing? The only attitude I ever display is simple. "Let people play the game the way that brings them joy and leave them alone." IMO, the mature way to handle that is to simply drop teams and avoid, not kick and report and 'punish'. YMMV.
  16. This is probably the biggest thing right here IMO. People whos heart rate is so fast, they simply cannot slow down and anyone or anything that slow them down must be villified. Add in a dose of 'I know the only right way to play' and here we are. Same. Never once had a problem. Seen people try and make trouble, they end up leaving because no one jumps on the hate train, seen that for a few reasons. I had actually already teamed with you in game for several missions, you caused all the KB. We had no problem at all being on the same team, I doubt we ever would until you tried to tell someone else how to play. I would call it 'spite' as much as anything, I blocked you for your, from my observations, devisive and militant attitude over the you thinking you can tell everyone the only right ways to use KB. Didn't you already quit playing over the 'oh-so-terrible' PB sound changes anyway? More generally.... In the end, as far as I am concerned, no matter how many people on any side of any argument it makes dislike me, IMO, reporting anything or kicking others players for other than bug/stuck/sexual/constant harasment/etc. to the GMs just shows a lack of maturity, patience, compassion, and empathy from the person doing the reporting, 99% of the time. And while I am old now, I said these same things on MMO forums when kicking was a new thing. From my PoV, I just see a bunch of elemetary school children fighting over the right way to play the game they all made up 10 minutes ago, with no compassion or empathy, only the driving need to WIN, be it the forum argument, or the best clear time, in a meaningless void that typically never actually occurs in-game. It's nothing new...every single MMO forum runs around in these same circles, none of this had changed in decades. For this game, with these forums, I even see some of the same names pushing the same tired BS for years. IMO, you either enjoy arguing about these things on forums, or you don't - these topics are always around... Just like you enjoy playing a game, or you don't. I for one have no trouble typing what's on my mind and could typically not care less if anyone agrees with my assessment, approval is not really something I seek from random people in games or on forums. I just try to present my PoV so that others with the same PoV know they have someone on thier side. But no matter what any of us do online, it cannot ever, ever, never ever, be 'good enough' for a few poeple, because IMO they just like to live with hate and anger. As I have said, I just try to avoid those people, as in RL, when playing, so they don't harsh my buzz. "Live your best life with no crap" - some little girl on the Internet.
  17. Even fighting about how they fight! The part that makes me sad is the need for people to even have to engage the GMs over things that are really just personal quirks, not any real problem, just personalities that want to be in control and dicktate or startate to others how to play that cannot abide anyone doing 'things' of which they do not 'approve' ... especially if everyone 'agreed' to follow some house rule, that is apparently like breaking the law, I saw those players compared to mass murders I think in this thread, since both can justify thier actions ... what's the old line? ... "You are not the boss of me." Many seem to think being on thier teams is some priviledge, since, you know, no one else makes teams or something. Yeah, this game forum has always delivered, even back on Live!
  18. Uh, I /gignored you in game months ago for your general viewpoint on KB, you might be the only one on the list right now, IIRC. I have stated repeatedly our entire outlook on how to play games is at odds, even though I have never been a burden on a team past my first hours of learning to play. 🙂
  19. OK, I was talking about balance and how I think it will never exist. I love your idea, I play on smaller teams all the time. I simply don't see a need to change games, where others do. Never meant to pee in your cereal.
  20. This, the very reason I simply avoid teaming in games. I do not understand the Startators, never have, don't care to try, I think they are just mean. IMO, Startators are the problem, not players using powers. Anyone who is ready with a list of reasons to kick players is not a teammate I want to have on teams. The whole reality that the team 'belongs' to the Startator is really just silly. Some people just love rules and regulations, following them brings them joy, even if they are all just made up crap. I choose to avoid those people in games and in RL.
  21. Communicate all you like, but one person's communication can be another person's lecture they don't care to hear. 🙂 If people want to pour over this kind of minutiae in the game, more power to them, but I just drop and go kill pixels.
  22. One person's 'careless scattered' is another person's 'awesome positioned'. There is no one right way from which to define 'careless' here. There is no crime in using in-game powers, there is no victim to blame. "Could you please focus those powers more strategically so the AoEs work better and I can get my dopamine faster" vs "If you don't focus/stop those powers I will kick you because the game flow has to work my way" vs I don't like the power combos/usage on this team, but no one else seems to mind, I'll leave. - "Later all" All are available options, YMMV.
  23. While at some extremes, the use cases you present sound very fun to me, provided it people just using their powers, not intentionally being jerks, because that's how everyone learns. I get where you are coming from, I do, but in the context of this game I would just be following said person to see what chaos was unleashed. Sounds like my Illusion/Storm controller, TBH.
  24. As is evidenced by my post history, I will speak my mind on the forums, it's the place to goof off around the game when I cannot play. I literally solo 99% in game simply so that I do not, ever, impede the playtime of others. I like to get up and get a drink when I want. I like to get up and take a toke when I want. I like to get up and just walk around when I want. I like to stop playing and have a conversation with my wife when I want. When I had pets, I liked to stop and pet them when they wanted... I feel very strongly that I have no right to make other people wait or negatively impact thier playtime at all from doing these things on my schedule/whim. So I avoid teams unless I am very sure I won't have to move for the time it takes to run whatever, because in my mind to do otherwise is rude. At the same time, these things in-game that seem to set people off like Group Fly and KB, make me laugh. I love it when the team creates it's own chaos from powers that cause us all to actually have to play the game rather than herding/facerolling. It's the most fun I have when playing the game. Smooth runs = Totally boring, IMO. Teamwipes make me laugh. If I laughed, I had fun, I could not possibly care less how many virtual rewards I gathered - I progressed, see you next time - even if the 'goal/TF/mission' 'failed'. With this attitude, I have to be incredibly careful with whom I team, in all games, since I play them all this way. To me, this is super fun prentendy time, but really, it's all just pixels. I don't have saved games or pictures from my Galaga high scores back in the day, nor do I have tons of saved game data, I just restart. Ephemeral entertainment is awesome IMO and there is little more ephemerally entertaining than a group of paniced humans playing a game, thier real personalities come right out to play, and the button mashing begins. As with most things, I seriously try to not take it too seriously.
  25. Not as time consuming as it is for someone else to chime in with the info and wait for the players to run off and do that, but I'll just streetsweep or AH until they get back. 🙂 I simply choose not to interact in those use cases in MMOs, there are plenty who really dig it, let them do it, why take away something they enjoy? 🙂
