The Bestest Bruter - Regenners please help fix
Bill Z Bubba replied to Bill Z Bubba's topic in Brute
2nd faceplant outside with Sister Solaris and the Minotaur and that was without triggering the seafood buffet. Hybrid Melee does help, but not enough. I'm sure if I slip into squishy mode and stay at the edges, bringing in manageable numbers of enemies, running often to allow for Hybrid Melee, IH and MoG to stay in play, this is all doable. but it sure ain't much fun. Especially compared to just jumping in, staying at the aggro cap and being able to killkillkill. -
The Bestest Bruter - Regenners please help fix
Bill Z Bubba replied to Bill Z Bubba's topic in Brute
In an ITF right now on beta. Findings so far? The period of time when IH and MoG are down and Barrier is at the low values is freaking rough and that's WITH darkest night up on a boss. Gonna craft up Hybrid Melee instead of running with Assault and see if that will help during the IH/MoG downtimes. Yes, I've already faceplanted once and I haven't even saved all the Sybils yet and that's with allowing myself to run away when the fit hits the shan. I can only imagine how bad this'll be during the seafood buffet or cysts mission. -
I'm in Brigg's farm right now PLing that damned fire/regen brute to 50. 12 maps to go. Then I have to go do the damn patron arc so I can get gloom, darkest night and dark oblit. Then spend a ton of cash on winter IOs, since I don't use them that often, for the recharge debuff resistance. Then however much longer getting her T3ed. After that, there will be a few ITF runs. All this just to prove to myself that fire/regen sucks as much as I think it does. And then she'll be stripped and deleted. Well... ok, I'll probably get a pylon baseline and run Trapdoor with her and THEN delete her. Edit: Why yes, it WOULD make vastly more sense to just do this on beta. Edit2: Yea, screw it. I played it normally solo to 20something and ran a Posi with the SG. She was 28 when I began PLing this morning. Think I will save myself time and inf and build her on beta instead.
-
Nobody should but it's a data point. My fire/regen brute build is up in the brute forum. Will probably get it done this weekend with PLing but hoping yall can tweak it first.
-
Here's what I slapped together: Notables: 2650 HP with Dull Pain which is permanent. 17 sec downtime on Hasten which I hate. 85% recharge debuff resistance. Only 26% regen debuff resistance. Plan is for Gloom, Incinerate, Cremate, repeat for the ST chain but I haven't even checked the numbers to see if that's possible. Might be G-C-I-C-repeat. IH is up a third of the time. MoG is up around a fifth. Make it better please?
-
Yup. As stated earlier, SOs only with no pool powers is a good data point. Now they need to run the exact same test with Tough. Then again with Weave. Etc, etc.
-
I'm reminded of Creepshow.
-
Katana has Divine Avalanche. 15% extra melee defense would help considerably. And I would have had a much easier time of it had I been solo at base diff. Course, I'm also forgetting as usual that brutes can't get shadow meld but darkest night's -tohit and -damage will still help considerably when the time comes.
-
Please be sure that your model incorporates an average of the various debuffs that occur at the various stages of leveling, ie defense debuffs from guns from 1-15, etc.
-
Maybe if regen didn't suck so bad it had to rely on two broken pool powers to be viable, it wouldn't be an issue. But thanks for bringing that up!
-
To be fair to reality, many of us were on our "Bestest" alts. Meaning, the worst choices we could make for a given AT. Diff was at +2 but the team was only at 6 players. So any time I ended up being the primary aggro, it meant death.
-
No. I'm saying that shadow meld and rune of protection should be nerfed into the frelling dirt. Also, yes.
-
Then we are not in disagreement. If I were to add SM and RoP to my existing armor users without them, they would be even more ridiculous than they already are. The fact that regen needs both to be on par with the other armor sets (some without either) should tell everyone everything they need to know about Regen's current mitigation values. My main claws/sr tank/brute/scrapper have neither and they were always superior to what my fire/regen brute has shown from level 1 onward. This may, of course, change, should I decide to take both and utilize them as I have been told to do so by those backing regen as an armor set. But it will not change the fact that were I to respec my existing armor users to follow those same rules, they would quite simply become that much more superior to regen.
-
Ok. And I'm saying that shadow meld benefits resistance based sets more than regen and rune of protection benefits defense based sets more than regen. While also stating that at no time under any circumstances is regen better than any other armor set outside of perhaps a Hamidon raid. So can we reconcile our statements?
-
Ok. Are you comparing it to only defense based armors? Cuz that's the only way it makes any sense.
-
Honestly, same goes for the defense armors and rune of protection. And on the insp front, how do yall really want to test that. If one says insps are ok and I walk in with ANY armor set and a full loadout of T4 insps specifically chosen to fill the holes of my given armor and email filled with them that I can pull at will vs someone else that made the mistake of only using what was in their tray and what drops, what the fuck is that supposed to tell us in regards to actual balance between said armors?
-
I'm stating emphatically that /bio benefits from shadow meld more than regen does because bio is already superior to regen in every way. As neither can hit the defense softcap easily on their own, shadow meld allowing either to do so with bio's superior mitigation at base values means specifically that.
-
I have it (meaning shadow meld) on my nrg/bio scrapper. Want to really tell me it's not benefiting from it? And some sets have more problems to overcome than others while still under-performing the others. Kinda the point of the entire argument. Well said. Please do. Run the math. You'll see that caps matter and getting closer to said caps matters even more. I just got off a Posi 1 with my Bestest Bruter, a fire/regen brute at around level 25, exemplared down to whatever Posi 1 is. It was a complete shitshow and I was eating every farkin insp that dropped. Regen is a crap set. Full stop.
-
That's pretty damn awesome, man. Have you determined the average DPS loss from not using amplifiers?
-
As a scrapper, I enjoy mitigation with the ability to punch/claw/whatever enemies in the face. Dominators sorta fit that role. Not nearly as well as scrappers, of course, but it's the same mindset. The only difference is the time I have to spend creating the sphere of mitigation before I get to punch things in the face. This means that the AT itself is still lower in the pack after scrapper/brute/tank/sentinel.

But this is precisely how people in this thread are talking about regen. They specifically state it's on par with the other armors with “*MODEST* inspiration usage” while ignoring where other armors retain superiority with the same moderate inspiration usage. They speak of cycling between MoG and Rune and Shadow Meld while ignoring that other sets accomplish the same tasks with none of those. I have ZERO issues with comparing the sets in a complete void (no outside powers in use) and with SOs. It's a data point and a good one. I've no problems comparing sets with pool powers. If the fighting pool is allowed, it's allowed for all sets. If CJ is allowed, it's allowed for all sets. If leadership is allowed, it's allowed for all sets. This is how to test. This is how to get data. Run the numbers with the set itself and nothing else, the set +X, the set +Y and Z and Alpha, etc, etc. You add something to EVERY armor equally and then after you're all done rerunning those numbers, you find your averages and present the findings.

Yea.... Regen lovers aren't evil. Misguided and sad, sure...

Make "Notice of the Well" Account tradeable
Bill Z Bubba replied to Heatstroke's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Obviously I missed this. Yes, it's silly. Honestly, there should be no mechanism whatsoever in the game for any conversion of incarnate components to inf. Yes, this would mean yanking the ability to spend threads on crap you can dump on the market. -
Make "Notice of the Well" Account tradeable
Bill Z Bubba replied to Heatstroke's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I guess I'm missing something from never doing it. Are we able to convert emps to reward merits? If so, remove that and then let us convert threads to emps. Edit: Ahh, we can. 1 emp to 10 reward merits. That's stupid and should be removed from the game. -
Make "Notice of the Well" Account tradeable

Please show your work. I fail to see how allowing a conversion of threads to emps when emps can already be converted to threads would in any way harm the in-game economy. (edit: especially when you'd have to spend more threads to get an emp than the 20 threads you get for converting an emp.) What % of the economy is based around t4 insps bought from Luna now? How will lessening the number of said insps purchased from her make any impact of note?
