Addressing the Tanker Brute Connundrum.
ryuplaneswalker replied to Profit's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
And Giving Tanks more sustain will do nothing, but here is the problem. Post IOs Brutes have the exact same sustain as a tank and do more damage, and mind you my idea is to give Tanks some sort of damage boost through IO sets. This would be my general preference as well, if it were possible I would suggest something like sentinels have, where they have a bar and as the tank gets attacked it gets filled and once filled their next attack would give an unresistable low % debuff, with each attack having a different debuff. Tier 1 could be -regen, Tier 2 would be -damage and so on. This would give Tanks something that brutes/scrappers can't easily duplicate without making them terribly overpowered. There is a Stone Armor thread, stop trying to drive this conversation there, and Tanks are "fine" at So levels of power, they just get left behind by IOs. Finally : RE - the Debuff Numbers being thrown around. You all realize that those number differences are effectively the same after AV(really the only things that debuffs that aren't -res) debuff resistances right? -
Addressing the Tanker Brute Connundrum.

Two of those classes are support classes, saying "I did an All Defender/Controller STF." is sort of like saying you played a game on the easiest setting, and I am willing to bet in Pre IO land. Scrapper and Blaster STFs were not very smooth. In content where it matters Tanks were 100% wanted, like Master of Pre Incarnate, Even in the Post IO World Tanks were desired in the situations where pure survival mattered. That is because the game is super easy and there are no DPS checks. I would attribute that to..not all brutes taking taunt and not being effective at aggro management. Of course given that in the time of Inherent stamina..I have no idea how someone can avoid taking taunt if only because it requires no slots to do it's job. -

Defenders also bring the most potent support capabilities in a game where Support effects alone are enough to bring a character. And that won't solve the problem. This, isn't remotely true, Pre-Side Switching Tanks were the only real aggro aura class that could take AV level hits without having an Empath/FF/Sonic buddy running around with them, and even if you have a scrapper to tank they won't have the aggro control that a tank has for trash and against some of the End Game AVs a scrapper with a pocket empathy user will still get completely destroyed. Because This is the thing that Tanks don't have. Once again. The Reason Tanks have fallen behind is because you can get massive survival benefits from IOs. The reason that Brutes have replaced Tanks as the primary Tank class in the game is that they get Aggro Tools and Damage, and IOs cover the fact that in exchange for the extra damage Brutes have lower baseline defenses. Tanks need either some level of debuffs/buffs to bring something that brutes do, or some manner of extra damage benefits from Sets. -

No the Brute won't have "much deeper mitigation" Scrappers and Brutes have the same defensive values, the only difference between a Brute and a Scrapper in a farm situation is that the Brute has higher HP, but if you are facing AE mobs specifically tailored to your armor set that won't matter, and with the ATO's scrappers do more damage than Brutes, of course this really doesn't matter in regards to Tanks, but saying that "Brutes are overpowered currently" is completely untrue. One of the Roles of a Brute is to tank, that is one of their jobs and before IOs come into play Brutes do have a downside, they have Scrapper Numbers. Tanks are mostly fine where they are in terms of SOs/HOs they just don't gain anything out of set bonuses and that is a problem, but that is an IO problem, especially in the ATO sets where they do nothing to boost Tanks in the areas that tanks needed to be boosted. It has been said by the GMs that this is not doable per AT, where I would start with bringing Tanks in line in a Post IO/ATO world, would be for the Proc ATOs to have real offensive value, like the Resistance one also providing a To Hit/Damage buff every stack and for the Absorb proc one to have a (very high)damage pulse when it triggers. PS: I apologize for the lateness of this post, I thought I hit enter. -
Addressing the Tanker Brute Connundrum.

Brutes are not Overpowered in a Post ATO world. The problem with tanks in a post IO world is that IO's themselves were terribly balanced (not in comparison to SOs, IO set bonuses compared to other IO set bonuses) In all reality there are only two ways to IO. "Recharge" and "Survival" and tanks don't benefit greatly from getting "perma" dull plain, they can't really boost their damage massively through IOing because most damage bonuses off IOs are not very good, and are hampered by Tankers low damage modifier. -
I had one on live, it was good, I recall Ice Armor getting a buff at some point so that it had an endurance boosting power somewhere that should help with Stone Melee's endurance costs.

That's not really a valid comparison. The problem with Super Strength on Scrappers is really related to Rage. The set as a whole is balanced around the idea that you have an 80% damage buff up pretty much all of the time. The problem is that an 80% damage buff is a lot more powerful on a Scrapper than it is on a Brute or a Tanker since Scrappers have much higher damage modifiers. Functionally speaking an 80% damage buff for a Scrapper is more like a 120% damage buff for a Tanker or Brute. So at an absolute minimum if you ported Super Strength to Scrappers Rage would need to be nerfed to about 50% damage boost to keep the damage output in line with Brutes. Even then you might find it a bit to powerful due to Critical Strikes. Would have to be just a hair higher to be equal to Brutes. Normally at 50% fury Brutes and Scrappers will do equal damage outside of crits. Scrapper Attack: 150, slotted w/ 100% damage 300. Add 50% rage 375. Double rage 450 Brute Attack: 100, slotted w/ 100% damage 200. At 50% fury 300. Add 80% rage 380. Double rage 460 50% would put them below this threshold but 53% would put them equal. Another thing to consider when comparing the 2 ATs is that Scrappers for most sets have a higher damage buff with Build Up and similar powers vs Brutes. So during that 10 seconds with 100% slotting for damage, instead of 300 they would do 450 but a brute instead of 300 would only do 380. So for all other sets, the scrapper does slightly more damage over time. At base recharge this means around 55% on Rage would make the difference between a SS Scrapper and SS Brute about the same as any other set. Then that brings us to another issue. When you compare 2 identical sets and have the brute at 50% fury and exclude crits, the Scrapper version and the Brute version are exactly the same. Over time including crits, they are the same at 65% fury. Where things change is with Build Up combined with recharge. The more often build up is used, the farther the scrapper pulls ahead with the exact same attack chain. If you have Rage nerfed to 55% then a high recharge SS scrapper would be roughly the same as a high recharge SS brute where every other set, the scrapper pulls further ahead with more recharge. So if they were to port SS to scrappers they have several things to consider. If they nerf the Rage percentage too low then SS will suck on Scrappers and all the work that was done will be futile as almost no one would play the set. If they leave it too high, then it becomes super popular and everyone is running around with SS/Bio Scrappers stomping everything to death and popping Parasitic Aura right before rage crashes. (Don't pretend this isn't why we want SS on Scrappers) Finding a fair middle ground would take a lot of work and I would not expect that of people who are bringing the game to us without getting paid for it. So even though I would love to see it, I don't expect that port any time soon. This is all made worse by ATOs, Scrapper ATO's take scrappers from "Better than a Brute at Low Fury, not as good at high fury" to "Just plain better than a Brute."

Once Enhanced with a base 8 Minute recharge it would come down to around 4 Minutes, which would give it outside of any other factors a 25% uptime on a power that gives Massive Resistances. Remove the Crash and you have a very respectable power given that the player version of the power would have a 8 Minute Up time with 3 minute duration, and a massive crash at the end.
-
That is not actually remotely true. 95% of cards are designed for Draft environments. As for Serum - It doesn't need a redesign, it just needs a buff. Halve the base recharge. Get rid of the Crash, and maybe have it heal the targeted minion to full so it can be used as an "Ohcrap button" that gives a pet that has gathered aggro a way not to die.

My biggest Personal memory was the day that I was just logging on my main, I don't even remember what I was going to do but it wasn't running an Itrial. The first thing I saw when I logged in was Zwillinger, the Community Rep on his personal toon..say in all caps in Local. "RYU YOU NEED TO LEAD AN ITRIAL RIGHT NOW!!!!" However, that is not the story I came here to tell, I just remembered that bit as I loaded in the reply screen. The story I was going to tell doesn't involve me, it involves a post made by a parent. That post was them thanking the group that ran a Synapse with their 6 year old child, how they went slow in the task force and didn't bull rush everything and let the kid be comfortable with the pulls, how they guided the child through how to play a blaster and the different buttons the child had to press and what they did. I forget most of the details of the post, but I do remember the parent saying that their kid called the Clockwork Zappies.

Sniper Beta Patch Notes, June 1st 2019
ryuplaneswalker replied to Leandro's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
I am okay with this change for Blasters and Sentinels who being a Pure Damage AT should have some mechanics that allow them to do that better than others and being able to instant snipe baseline would be great, I however think that Defenders and Corruptors shouldn't have the perk unless they get to the To-Hit. Dominators and Stalkers get snipes from their epic pools so I have no idea, maybe give it instant during Hide and Domination? -
issue 26 Patch Notes for May 30th, 2019
ryuplaneswalker replied to Leandro's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
To the people who are saying Death from Below was fine as it was. Do you really think it is fine that you are getting the same experience values for your level doing content that is tuned for characters far below your level that content that is tuned for your level gives? Once you hit the level that the trial begins to exemplar you is when the Experience begins to get reduced, that is because as you level and get more slots you grow more powerful. A natural level 6 Character and a level 20+ character scaled down to level 6 are not the same levels of power and should not be gaining the same XP for fighting the same mob. -
Remove brawl from ranged MM pets
ryuplaneswalker replied to Deathblade2007's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Something of Note : If OP is still pre-level 32, the pets still don't have their full attack chain, once you hit that point and get the second upgrade ranged pets should run into melee far far less than they do without it, I don't recall it being a problem at all once my Merc MM hit level 32. -
