  1. invul may be a little better there, but still depends on what you are fighting, if its psi no chance, shield wins easily Smashing lethal which is a majority of what you face early on shield is a tad behind probably. I honestly didnt stick around too long on early levels with my shield though, i had him to 50 in 3 days.
  2. i just did here. Its a good thing i didnt make this build first because i would have never rolled anything else. I have 3 brutes that can tank and are awesome, 2 tanks that are awesome, but this is the most dynamic on offense with shield charge and mighty radial incarnate then street justice punchy feeling. and on survival lol its just awesome. I giggle everytime i play it. Captain Infinitum - Tanker (Shield Defense).mxd
  3. This is so true. Very wise insightful realizations we all must face from time to time.
  4. Tanking is not exclusive to the Tanker AT. Any AT can do it but nothing is as good at it as a Tanker.
  5. What are your other 2 builds? If you need any help leveling or gaining inf look me up on excelsior.
  6. thats cool but whats that green bar do that looks distressed at the top there? lol I had 11 on me and my health bar didnt move hardly at all, how many can you do at once with it and still survive indefinately? I can do more than 11 I just couldnt get them to stay on me.
  7. That was cool. thanks for sharing that!!
  8. It is funny though the similarities between how we both slot. My invul is also similar to yours.
  9. check your defense and regen, a lot more is going to hit you and it will take longer to gain it back also. Plus I can rotate melee core and one with the shield which puts me at or near 90% on everything but psi. I have an invul also with similar numbers to what you habe and on paper it looks stronger but with incarnate shield pulls way ahead in practice. Im still working on the invul though because it's the first one I ever made so I want to be able to do the crazy stuff on it I do on Shield, but right now my Shield is better. And it's not close.
  10. Thats my baseline. this is the kitchen sink which I've never remotely come close to needing.
  11. That's running melee core, which you can alternate with one with the shield which has similar numbers and a very easily manageable drop. Alternating the 2 combined with ageless radial nothing ever gets through this. No exaggeration. I rarely run either one honestly unless I am herding monster island for 30+ minutes doing stupid tanker tricks. My baseline is enough for 90% of everything in the game. My invul just isn't close, and believe me I've tried.
  12. My experience has it more durable than invul by a good margin. Even without a self heal. Mainly because the positional defenses are more static than what invulnerability delivers with invincibility. Invul is good though, but to give you a for instance, my Shield tanked all 4 patrons at the same time, and LR without much if any support or inspirations. Invul with incarnates even running dull pain and Tier 3 melee core incarnate got ate up by Lord Recluse without inspirations.
  13. /\ Shield. lol
  14. Shield.
  15. GKar and Londo stuck in the elevator. "CAN ANYBODY HEAR US" small voice GKar. "I hear you" And that's tanking in a nutshell what you described.
  16. That pretty much sums up everything about homecoming and why we are here on it. It's an easy second chance to time travel and do it all over again but better and easier while still having lives.
  17. Not sure about sonic, but have seen several blaster sets and when they are along the majority of damage isn't coming from me as a brute or tank. I will get my licks in but there's not much left after a couple of seconds. What I have seen from the majority of blasters I play with is their damage is far > than mine as a brute or tank.
  18. Not really, I fight at range with my blaster, and build for that and its hard to die the way im set up. My blaster is > any of my brutes and tanks where damage is considered. Its not even close.
  19. Aim + build up + inferno + burnout + aim + build up + inferno says. Hi!
  20. I just watched that episode yesterday. Thats one of the best lines in the show. Along With "I will put a bucket on my head and pretend to be the ancient vorlon god booji." As far as tanking goes, jump in, take the alpha, punch them all till they no longer stand. Doing that effectively has more to do with your build and your team buffs than anything else but especially build.
  21. This keeps coming back like the evil bunny on Donnie Darko. Nothing beats a tank on survivability as it is now. Not even res cap Brutes. Don't believe me, come team with my Shield SJ Tank.
  22. Yeah, agreed, we normally run with multiple tanks or brutes or a combination for that reason. And believe it or not stuff still gets through. That's when the troller types better lock them down or the blaster types destroy them.
  23. That's not at all what was said, they are just talking about adding more variety. Which would open the door to more build diversity. The slot limit limits what could be done anyway, but if it allows you to build a different way to achieve the same result, I don't see the problem here. I don't know why you can't understand that.
  24. It wouldnt change that. If anything it would add more agonizing choices to slot this or that. It cant make it stronger, just more diverse in what you can initially choose and slot. I still probably would not change any of mine because if it aint broke dont fix it. But I may explore the options on future builds if they existed.
  25. Well cool thing about this game is you can play it however you want to. Some people don't always want or have time for a grind. If some people do Then self nerf, it's not right to be that elitist to try to dictate how other people view Or want to play the game. I see power creep come up all the time here, but in reality the big bad goblin of power creep in most people's minds is actually just a justification to make the game so grindy nobody but people with unlimited time would be able to play all the content on the game then and most regular people having a good time every day doing superhero stuff with easy buttons would quit playing because it wouldn't be fun anymore. You want to destroy the game? do that. What you call power creep won't do it - it's actually what is bringing people in still because it is fun to be powerful. Every build is still limited by number of slots. That's your limit. That's your power creep fire break. That alone allows you to literally build a character or team of characters any way you want to. If people can't enjoy that, or how we are set up here and just be happy its back and in great shape, then self examination may be in order.
