  1. Its also back to school season, 12 years passing has turned people like me into old farts with kids we have to get ready for bed, and also homework. So I would imagine some of the younger players are back to HS or college as well. I know for a fact 4 of my groups regulars are back to school, or has kids that are, and it's just a busy time.
  2. Eh, I don't really notice the heavy psy resists end game and my penultimate main is a psy/Elec brute. Psy is one of my favorite sets.
  3. You can't have all three, it's statistically impossible. Trust me I have tried on Tank or Brute. Where you go for one of those you trade off one of the other. When I am res capping on the res based brute I'm deep into incarnate to do it. I trade damage and defense to do it. I don't even hit the melee soft cap on defense with that set up. On the equivalent tank I'm res capped higher pre incarnate so I can pick an alpha and or hybrid to increase defense at that point. The only one I go for max damage on is my fire tank and rad fire brute. But even then I need 3 rows of red insp to hit the damage cap. That's only 4 characters built 4 different ways by one player.
  4. It doesn't slow it down that much honestly. I didn't notice any slow down actually. If it is there its miniscule. Did you roll yours in test to see how it felt?
  5. Do you mean 30min - 1 hr per day per week? Or 30min - 1 hr total per week?
  6. 1. You suggested it, do you know how many hairbrained suggestions like that get legs and run on here? I wont dredge them back up, but a lot. 2. You literally cant, if you would think about the issue you would realize that, you literally cant account for all the set variables that are in someones head(s). Maybe common IOs could be the standard, but Sets could literally take you any number of different ways. What may not affect one set build could greatly affect another. Its not a AT issue its a Set issue. 3. I know, I have been testing them, and as i stated i think they are awesome changes. However nerfing brute resistance caps based on Max Level builds keeps coming up, and i am against that. 4. Im not losing sleep, Im enjoying the freaking game, and yes it is because if its about anything else - thats too much like work. I have tested the current changes on both tanks and brutes and I see a lot of possibility with one and Nothing lost with the other. I think its a good way to bridge the gap between the two and Give us two similar yet different tanky options to play with.
  7. holy crap i guess nemesis mind controlled me there or cot possessed me or something there then.
  8. So what exactly are you saying nerf all of melee now just to get at TW? We aren't talking about disproportionate benefits, but varied design - so varied you can't reliably quantify or qualify how buffs or nerfs would affect a set because there are so many different design options - that honestly should be there as an endgame reward for any that takes the time to enjoy that part of the game. I think here you are talking about nerfs too much without actually quantifying or qualifying what you are really saying. Some of you losing sleep about what can min max and how blows my mind, just sit back and enjoy the freaking game without trying to talk about mythical game breaking set balance. It's like you can't rest because people are enjoying being powerful in many different ways and avenues to get there. Just enjoy the game, it's not broken.
  9. Sounds like a fun ride. Cant wait. Now if only we can get a meaningful EM buff.
  10. Thats why I think it would be a fair represented result, by how people look at the set would represent how it performs for that type of set up. I think you should also run with set guidelines, but also seeing how that would compare with an unrestricted test would be interesting and maybe illuminating on a scale we havent thought about.
  11. Well What about this, max level no strings attached build. I think most of us here can accomplish that. I've already got a pretty good feel for psy and rad. And I think there is enough of us where the data points will be pretty accurate anyway, I'm more than a little curious to see how that pans out. The only question would be what would we run on +4/8?
  12. I want to keep my brutes as really great tanks with reduced damage cap, and my tanks as really really good tanks with increased damage, thanks. What you are suggesting is largely punitive. That would be a disaster for builds like mine however because I would have wasted incarnate power selections then, because I picked incarnate abilities to bring my brutes closer to tank levels. Thats the tradeoff for the increased mitigation. Its not as easy as just doing it with sets in some cases, and again you would still have defense based brutes doing the exact same thing they are doing now. That would only affect res based tanks and you would still have the same percieved issue through the defense based brutes. To change that you would have to change defense for all ATs because I can build a blaster, a controller, and a defender that is defense based that can take point like any tank out there. I have 3 lvl 50 tanks and 3 lvl 50 Brutes, when the tank changes roll out there will be 4 of each. I have a shield/sj Captain Infinitum ready to roll. The variety will be pretty good for either AT once the current suggested changes go live, but there is no justifiable need to penalize brute res caps any.
  13. Definately the ATOs-funny thing about those according to mids - in the case of MA - cause the whole set to function differently depending on what power you slot them in. Ie more average damage on other powers.
  14. No, I was responding to people bringing that up as an acceptable option. And why it wouldnt be acceptable for me. And also why I don't think it's a fair or balanced option to do that in the grand scope of the game as it is today.
  15. Whew. I wouldn't know, I'm pretty new to the ways of Scrapperlock, but it would vary by set I guess.
  16. You cant balance around a general idea, a small nerf for one could be a huge nerf for another set up in the same category. And then what about those of us that used incarnate abilities to reach the cap, because easy isnt the operative word in most cases to cap like that when as a tank you are pretty much capped by lvl 40 and some cases earlier. Lvls 1-47 unless you go attuned the tank is drastically better on a team and more survivable solo. And make no mistake, I agree with the current changes as is in regards to damage, I have just as many tanks as brutes and a few concepts also that I cant wait to roll this change on live. Bringing the brute damage cap down in response seems justified and appropriate. What I am against is nerfing brute resistance caps because and again 1. It would only affect brute resistance sets basically ruin them given what we need them to do. And 2 wouldn't do a dang thing about the hybrid or defensive sets across all ATs that can soft cap either way - not that I want anything done to them. Basically putting brutes in the same category as lower damage scrappers, or squishy tanks that can't take point for a team. With the right investment in defense any AT can be as durable as a tank no matter what you do to resistance caps. It would be a punitive slap that would just piss people like me off and change what we have been able to do reliably since CoH came back.
  17. What if we went to the other end of the spectrum and IOd out fully. Then met in the middle. For another test. That way you would have an unblemished unbiased high and low.
  18. I think the point is you can't reliable balance around IO slotting because you can't predict every combo that could be chosen. Some say IOs are the problem, I say they are the reward for seeing a character through to 50 then realizing any one of a multitude of options to make them epic. Not everyone is going to do that with every character - well I probably would because I'm OCD. Tanks needed a buff, but I have never had the issue of tripping over brutes to find one. Well maybe the AE lobby.
  19. And with a limited albeit awesome development staff, it sure seems that way though - the game is as it is. I think is pretty awesome and like the proposed tank changes. Cant wait to rediscover them all over again. Seems brand new Again.
  20. Couple of updates: Mastermind Monday's is a huge success, we are currently running 2 teams concurrently for 80% of the time we are rolling Monday night's. Its a lot of fun most of us are up to 4 pets by 8 teammates is 40 characters on map steamrolling. Scrapper Sunday's are also a hit, although not as big as MM Mondays. Still pretty fun. We are pretty close to having enough recruited to run incarnate trials at will with an all SG roster. That's one of our big goals. We are consistent in running multiple instances of the weekly TF We ran Dr Q TF the other night 2hrs 17 min so we can pull off just about anything in the game in a timely fashion. We have more than a few SG mates that are hami/msr raid masters (looking at you crowe) 🙂 I'm sure we could get you involved there also. It's all about the fun and what we can offer you, anything you bring to us will work!
  21. That and also switching gauntlet to fury for tanks also back then. I heard stories that that was the original intent for fury.
  22. Forgetting to clear out quantity 10 after buying enh converters then going to buy an ATO set. *Facepalm* Or Doing the above mentioned a second time. *Double Facepalm* Or You don't initially read the forums and realize the reason your invul ss main on live remade on here was end crashing and dropping toggles all the time is due to an actual existent rage crash. Once I figured that out I was good.
  23. Yeah, because they aren't hurting anything except people's feelings. When most adults would move on, play something else instead of worrying about why X can match Y when this effort is applied.
  24. So then what do you do with all the brutes like mine that have resilient as their alpha or melee as their hybrid so we can cap resistances at 90? That becomes a wasted slot that is then over the new cap. That leaves all the defense based or hybrid defense based brutes untouched. They share that cap with every AT in the game not just tanks. You do realize that a scrapper or Stalker that's defense based can do the exact same thing a tank with the same set can do right? So what then adjust the soft cap for every AT lower than tanks just so the can feel better about it? That literally ruins a lot of builds for no justifiable reason, because there is no reason the two can't share the same survivability cap - especially when it's much more difficult and costly for the brute to choose that path. Like it or not Brutes are basically tanks with different mechanics that gave them an edge on damage, which is what they are trying to address in this patch. You said easily, match the tank, but thats not in all circumstances. And definately not out of the box. Because like the above mine won't cap till incarnate, my tanks cap way before incarnate. Tanks and Brutes were designed to share the same space, that's why honestly I think it's most fair to nerf the brute damage cap a little, and raise the tanks damage cap and aoe limits. That gives you 2 good options for tanking, with the tank still being a good bit ahead with agro management and survivability out of the box now exceeding brute damage on low fury and matching it up to 50%.
