    Not only that, but who the heck makes elevators that only go up and down ONE FLOOR, with 1-2 in the northwest, 2-3 in the southeast, 3-4 in the east, and there's not a SINGLE fricken' stairwell in a single building interior in all of Paragon City.  The whole place should should be massively condemned for major safety violations.

    This is the one that bothers me, too.

    So let's pretend we're making CoH2 and we want a more realistic mission environment... So you'd put all the elevators I one room, you'd do your thing on the floor then return to that room. As long as there is something unique to do on that level (i.e. skipping is not an option), it's perfectly feasible.

    Sadly, the whole twisty-turny spaghetti office/corridor design would have to go out of the non-existent window as well! How would you replace that?

    This would solve  lot of issues with fan-made apps, but would such ancient code support this function?

    Also, please don't give up, Knight! I've seen tonnes (metric) of people show off prototypes and never get around to completing their projects. Cipher's might not go anywhere and then we're all down two projects instead of just one!

    Having said that, it looks very fancy, but yes viewing and building a character do seem like a hand-in-hand notion to me.

  3. You may want to look at the AH at some expensive recipes. The prices vary wildly over very short periods of time, so if you can pick the bottom and top of the market for a pricey recipe, you can start flipping great numbers of them. That should get you going, later you might want to find a cheap recipe that crafts into an expensive enhancement. After that you will be a billionaire, I expect.

  4. I could not find an Ill/Dark thread, so here is one!

    Let me lay out my perspective first. I'm not a Controller player. I don't really dig the whole standing around doing clicking anchors thing - it's not my bag.

    The recent MIRROR option for clones (on the Clones power, you can make them look like your character instead of the default look) has me looking at the Illusion powerset and I'm going Dark for ... some reason /shrug.

    Anyway. I've got my Ill/Dark Controller to level 9 and I'd like advice on how I should build it. I'm completely out of my depth and am weak when it comes to builds. I have billions of inf, however, so I can do a great set of enhancements - I just don't know how to build or play - hah!

    I enjoy using Deceive on enemies (I've been doing solo missions very slowly :)) and am eyeing up Superior Invisibility - so maybe this gives you an idea of the type of person I am/playstyle I might enjoy.

    Thanks for any help you might offer :)

    Nobody has the video skills of Michael Bay, or directorial talent. Bad Boys 2 > Godfather 2!!!!!!!!!

    Maybe if we spent time playing the game instead of faking videos, we'd be able to make a real video some day?

    Judging by what people say about Transformers, Michael Bay is a Sonic Blaster.

  6. Just some ideas;

    • More asymmetrical costume parts - I know spandex heroes of old didn't use them much but these days we're all about spec ops heroes with accessories!;
      • Single shoulder pieces (this MUST be easy, it means deleting one existing shoulderpad, right?)
      • Some single gloves - especially wristbands (same, just delete one)
      • Any new asymmetrical chest details would be appreciated
    • Boss variation - the big-bag-of-hitpoints thing is a bit drab. For example; a random one of several versions of the boss? You probably already have some better ideas of your own.
    • Mob variation - the bag-of-hitpoints thing is a bit drab, and I agree that Malta Sappers are annoying, but they do something different and I appreciate that!
    • Mission variety. IMO too many missions are defeat some enemies/a boss - with lots of groups just standing around.  When you get to the Portal Corps missions - it feels as if the original devs ran out of the juju juice! I'd love to see more "disarm bombs in a time-limit" missions - I think they got added with the bank side-missions - things like this just to vary the game a bit more. I recognise that it would require rewording some mission text, so it's unlikely to happen. A shame, but something worth considering, I think. Examples of varied missions are the later ones: Ray Cooling, Faultline and Fusionette, Shining Stars (especially part 3, it's got everything you want in a story!).
      • Maybe I'm not giving the right impression. Maybe what I'm saying is that TFs aren't providing the team-oriented missions that I'd expected... maybe I should change my expectations.
    • The ability to set your default idle animation to one of the pre-existing looping or static emotes. This would mean some variation when you are just standing around. Maybe my guy stands like a gunfighter when he's not shooting things, for example.
    • Quieter portals in the Portal Corpse (there, I said it) building. I couldn't find the file to turn it down via a data overwrite file.

  7. Could someone explain Blaster secondaries to me please?

    It seems they are just for two things;

    • Blapping and,
    • One Build Up skill.

    Other than these they seem rather pointless.

    ... can someone put some nuance on this or explain secondaries in a more eloquent manner please?

    Call it power creep or game design, or mature player base, but I feel like most content in this game provides no challenge for 8 man teams.   I don't mean to get into why, or complain.

    I can explain why. It's because people complain when you make their gameplay complicated. If the AI was smart and all the mobs spread out and attacked from all over and then ran away when their health got low, people would be fed up and complain. Players want the mobs to be stupid and stand in a nice AoE blob for easy kills.

    With the Cudas being that old, I'm not sure it's worth using drives that far past their warranty date.  And I'm using a 300GB 15Krpm drive!
    ESPECIALLY IN SOFTWARE RAID!

    A Western Digital 1TB Blue is $45
    And you can snag a Crucial 500GB for $67 (and PCI-E to boot!).
    $112 and you can still move over up to 4 SATA devices!  (The PCI-E drive takes over SATA controllers 5&6).

    I would never touch anything other than a Seagate Barracuda hard disk drive. Especially not from Western Digital.

    As a thumb rule the drives with last year and this year's stuff will be accessed monthly on average, as it gets older the access gets much rarer.

    This is a good rule. Keep them active. Move them or lose them!

  10. I'm looking to put together a new, cheap computer.

    I'm looking at a

    processor - Ryzen 3600

    motherboard - ASUS Prime B450M-A (I don't overclock)

    PSU - EVGA 600W

    Then I just need memory and I'll use my old hard drives (2x512gig Seagate Barracudas in a striped RAID, Intel® SSD 530 Series 125gig for operating system, Samsung EVO 850 SSD 250gig).

    There may be an issue putting all of these sata devices on that particular board - but we'll see. I'll fudge it somehow.

    Not sure about graphics yet.

    RULE OF THUMB : If it says "Gaming" on it, look for a cheaper version of it. -"GAMING" adds 30-200% to the price for no reason.

    I get the impression that a lot of people are holding off buying computer components because they're a massive rip off at the moment.
