Jetpacks don't detoggle your powers and are 50k for 5 hours. When are you going to use 5 hours of a jetpack at once? Heck, I don't think I killed the 1 hour I got for the Atlas Park Radio Mission with my main. Of course, he had Teleport because of being a Stone Tanker, and I eventually got Ninja Run, so that helped a lot.

I rather disagree to this. Now, I'm not dismissing the concept of Vehicle Powers. Vehicle traveling should be set up ala the hover board, ninja run, flying carpet, and the rest. Anything else would be too difficult to manage appropriately. As for new powersets: Expand the whip animations from Demon summoning for Assault lines, and maybe fold over for the melee sets. Some of those powersets I see in the Pines builder, the old one even had an Experimentation Power Pool which had a SuperSpeed with Teleportation! I really wanted to explore that route. A spear melee set. No, not pike or polearm, the short spear that Greek Phalanx and the Zhulus used. You know, one that can be used with a shield. I would like to see Gravity expanded beyond the Control Set, and Lady_Jade's Suggestion Thread had a few ideas on it, but I know it can be a difficult mess to deal with.

Decoupling Pronouns From Body Type
Charistoph replied to Wolf Bonne's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
So why isn't it fine for humans? That sounds rather specist. Most of humanity's cultures tie pronouns to biology where it applies, and it is only a few cultures which do tie pronouns with any cultural significance (such as the Latin languages, which have no indefinite pronouns). -
Decoupling Pronouns From Body Type
Charistoph replied to Wolf Bonne's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Aside from situations where the character is from a species which is fluid-sex or is a body-hopping being like the Khelds, I don't really see the point (custom pronouns would be for monosex and multi-sex species). Gender is supposed to be a socialogical construct, so I don't see how changing the presentation of the biology would change that. Not to mention, some people tie pronouns to biology where applicable, not sociology. Still, as I continue to think about it, there is enough comic history behind people body-hopping, and even characters being represented by different people (how many people have worn the Daredevil and Batman costumes now?). If that is a reason to pursue it, I see no reason not to include it. -
Well for the Scrapperlock, I'd go a little . For the Scrapper you just can't put down, a little , be careful of the Roll. And sometimes, a little (waning: language).

Awesome! You don't like my style, in addition to disagreeing with soem of my opinions. It really is that simple, IMO. When I admit to being human, you just shove that back at me. When I admit that yes, I make the same mistakes as others, you just attack. You don't like me, I get it. :) I don't know anyone who likes it when someone else projects their emotions on to statements just to have a reason to bully. No, I don't like you. I don't hate you. I simply don't care about you. But when you try to bully me because of your emotional mistakes, I do start to care. Then when you are corrected, you respond with supposed righteous indignation and try to place your mistakes on my head, I do care. I have zero responsibility to be your emotional caretaker. I have zero responsibility to kowtow to your extremism caused by such emotional projectionism. While I also don't care if you soft-foot through life or not, I do feel reasons to not soft-foot around bullies just to cater to their need for an emotional vomiting, especially when they expect me to do the clean up.

Unless you plan on staying at that level, or keep coming back to it, I probably would wait till you can slot 50s, so 47. Do keep in mind that I have not had a single character hit 45 and start building up such a resevoir, even back in the NCS days.

Not converting anything. The human psyche uses fear as a primary driver. That includes 'lesser' fear like concern, and interest. The _driver_ behind worrying is fear, it's just how how brains work. Not shaking in my boots, need to find the restroom fear, just the little nagging voice of 'what if'. So taking something from a lesser form to a greater form is not converting? Try again. You are treating everyone who is presenting concern as if they are shaking in their boots, hiding in the restroom stall for fear of the corporate bullies. It is that conversion of which I speak. As another point, I have followed a few WoW private servers, and while internal politics can destroy a server more quickly than a C&D, I am aware of what has happened to them. I bring some of those stories in to play largely to serve as a proper warning so wisdom can be engaged. Last time I checked, presenting the wisdom of the past is not fear-mongering. I am not fearful of an electrical socket, but I know better to be sticking forks in to them, and warn my children from doing the same. It may seem like old hat, but there is wisdom in not poking bears, especially if they are giants with large round ears and you don't have any large caliber weapons. And you misunderstand others, probably because of the same. Then why are you trying to shove other people's opinions in to the dark? Your statements do not match up with consistency. Except that data which opposes your point of view. Because of what you address and how you address it. You address it like the fear-monger you claim to be fighting. You have inserted over-inflated emotions in to their intentions, and then responded to what you created internally. Not everyone operates on such an emotional extreme. You claimed that you like to speak bluntly, so I am returning the favor. As for being misinterpreted, I approach problems from multiple directions, and my favored solutions are usually ones that people do not see nor do they want to see the approach. My solutions are then misinterpreted as not recognizing reality, when it is they who have not seen what I have perceived, and usually because they have inserted something else in to the mix as well.

Kinetic Melee has a charge up time on many of the attacks that I don't care for on a Brute, otherwise, loved it. Ice Melee and Ice Armor, I've had reports that the Slow doesn't affect Fury, but I haven't tested it yet. Street Justice. Tried it on a tank back on live. Have heard it has End issues, but I never got for enough for it. Speed seems to move well for me.

No theme really. Just that I enjoyed the animations and like the concept of martial assault. I honestly don’t have experience with dominators. My overall impression is that they lock mobs down with control and then kill them. I figured any primary is good at the lockdown part to some degree. So was just looking into what others were pairing with MA and their thoughts. Okay, sometimes the character theme comes before the powers, and sometimes the powers make the theme. Most of mine are the latter. Damage would probably be Gravity, since it is only one with a direct attack (Propel), but I can't address its aoe effectiveness. Illusion Control is also pretty good, but Doms don't have that (yet). Darkness gives the standard -ToHit that the Blast and Melee Sets do. Earth does -Def. Electrical drains End. Ice does -Spd. Mind has few defenses unless the target is classified as a robot or machine. Plant probably has some of the best overall collection of Control, and Fire is it's usually burninating thing. Earth and Plant tend to prefer the target be on the ground for many powers (dropping down a stair counts as "not on the ground, btw"), so that is something to consider. Darkness has a cone that most Control powers lack. If you want to go with a more "ninja"/"Secret Ops" Natural Type, I'd probably go Mind, though Darkness and Plant would also fit a Ninja style. From there, it is your choice, really.

It really depends on what you face a lot of. If you're facing a lot of Dark Attack or Force Field mobs, then it's enough, but to be honest, I've just been using one 15 IO Acc, and aside from a couple of strings misses, I've been doing fine with Stone Melee. And I hate missing, too. Back in the NCS days, usually more than 2 Acc SOs were considered a waste.

Does anybody else miss Galaxy City?
Charistoph replied to joyispunkrolex's topic in General Discussion
I used both. GC was easier to start with certain Origins, while Atlas was easier to start with the rest. Why? Different gang groups in each. Vahzilok packs were far easier to track down in Galaxy City, so my Science Heroes started there. This changed a little with the same changes that saw GC become a hostile nesting ground. Honestly, if GC returned, it should be a new PvP-Hazard zone for everyone with new GMs wondering around. Some would be summoned by a TF/SF and others on a random timer. Some could be summoned by collection (gather X number of glowie in the zone). However, that's in the same group of wishes as Gravity Armor and Cartoon Melee powers. -
Do you have a theme/Origin for the character? What other affects would you like the Control set to have?
-
Also consider, there are four separate storylines in Praetoria. Selfish Loyalist, protective Loyalist, Chaotic Resistance, and defender Resistance. So, yeah, I've limited myself (currently) to my main, which is my Chat Handle, another Hero, a Villain, and four Praetorians. Of course, that doesn't include a joke character I made to entertain my kids on another server...

Not missing that point at all, I just know how those things work, been in litigation, I deal with corporate lawyers in the real world. C&D shows up, they roll over, done, no money has to be exchanged unless they want to fight it. Cannot get blood from a turnip as the saying goes. CoH cannot die, the code is out. So, sure, if one of the community server-runners gets loose on thier money, they might have an issue. So far, the runners are smart enough to have LLCs and such to prevent/minimize personal losses. Not a silver bullet, but shows the right intent, which is what laws and rulings are based on generally. I simply do not have a fatalistic view of these things. Fear, concern, thoughts, whatever word you like, I am not concerned in the least, IMO, it's a waste of energy for me. 'Bad things' will happen or they won't, and if they do, the game will not dissappear, just the foolish people tried to make money with things they don't own. With all this data at hand, why spend time being concerned/worried. I get that people want to discuss. I still see 'vague feelings of losing CoH' causing people to find fatalistic scenarios that are highly improbable at the least, and none of them can put the genie back in the bottle. But you are the one converting concern in to fear here. And there has been several instances of private servers (specifically of another game) being shut down at just that point. Finding a new one is annoying. Rebuilding a character is annoying. So there is a basis for concern, no matter how improbable YOU find them to be. I am hoping that any concern of this subject is unwarranted. If I was truly fearful, I wouldn't have signed up and started playing. However, part of wisdom is learning from other people's mistakes, and there is always wisdom to being aware of traps that are out there and helping a group avoid those traps.

I'm already taking Leaping, so Spring Attack would fit in, but I wasn't so sure about it. I hadn't had a chance to play around with it all before Sunset, so it's rather new to me. And I was speaking of my character being a Stone Melee version versus his Energy Melee version.

So why would this? This is that '10%', IMO, and is not for profit. Still sounds like just general fear of Disney lawyers to me. Even IF Disney speaks up, the only thing that would happen is the server-runners would get a list of banned names - the costumes cannot be touched on their own, because of how trademarks work, it _has_ to be the 'whole thing' and they have to prove that people are mistaking thier products with others, diluting thier IP and causing a financial impact. IMO, fearing this is like fearing you will get sued if your neighbors here your music and call it illegal broadcasting ... Sure, anything is possible. I prefer to make choices based on things that are far less fuzzy than 'some evil lawyers might come get us, so stop having fun'. Do not translate concern as being fear. I am not the one who has to deal with lawyers, so I have nothing to fear. I am concerned for the loss of a game I enjoy, and that is the limit of where it goes. Where it comes in to a problem is how donations are handled. People have been sued for receiving too much in the way of donations so that it looked like they were being commercially profitable. Such lawsuits have been successful in the past (provided sufficient damages can be applied, which Disney really can't do here). BUT, and this is the biggest point that you seem to completely miss, a lawsuit does not have to be successful in the court to be a successful lawsuit. All it needs to due is completely drain the funds of the defendant in question to destroy them. If Score cannot pay the power and telecom bills, they are as shut down as if the Mounties came in and confiscated their equipment.

Okay, I've remade my main from NCServers to being a Shield/Stone Tanker. One problem with the Stone from its Energy Melee version is the lack of an area attack before the end. I'm trying to think of a good area attack I could get to help me effectively hit a group of people, but I'm a bit stymied. I have Sands, of course, but needless to say I can't slot it. Any thoughts in the range of 16-20?

90%* of the Batman and Deadpool costumes seen for Halloween are licensed. Of the remaining 10%*, so few are commercially for profit that it doesn't matter. An homage and a recreation don't have to be the same thing, and I wouldn't report someone for an effective homage. Rick from Rick & Morty is not really a super-hero genre character, but it could be argued that Sailor Moon and Goku from Dragonball are. The good news for those latter is that they aren't any games that could be affected by it. Then there are two other points to consider. The Marvel Cinematic Universe means huge amounts of money for Disney. So it is wise to be cautious there. They may not have much of a dog in this fight, at the moment, but they definitely have a litigious attitude and can pay lawyers for centuries. Fighting even spurious lawsuits could be more than the Score team can handle so the servers would be shut down without any other legal notice. CoH is a competition for DCUO and CO dollars. A case could be made of damages there since we wouldn't be spending money to support them as opposed to supporting the Score CoH servers here. But it would have to be demonstrable that their numbers showed a significant drop in attendance and income with the launch of these servers. Damages that Disney couldn't provide for because they dropped their dog in this fight. Honestly, it would be hard for them to make a case from me for CO, since the last dollar I spent there was before they went F2P. I haven't even spent a dollar on DCUO, so there is no loss from me there. *92.4% of statistics are made up on the spot, and this is one.

Why did I get a forced name change yesterday?
Charistoph replied to Fizzol512's topic in General Discussion
The game is rather disturbing from what I've heard. However, it is a fairly common term aside from that. -
GMs' burdens are granted by server controllers and by the players. By becoming a GM, you voluntarily ask for those burdens to be placed upon you. By applying to be a janitor, you are voluntarily asking to clean up other people's crap, and it's no different from being a GM (the scat is just more informational than literal). It was a suggestion to those who felt that there was a significant concern over a situation. This is normal practice for a MMORPG, whether it is on a private server or a commercial one AND part of the GM's job that they asked for (no one is forced to be a GM). It also adds one more thing which I noted later, a record. You know who loves records? Bureaucracies and lawyers. You seem to be more concerned about the emotional weight of a discussion here than ever considering the practical considerations. This leads to a greater waste of resources than following a protocol which is a standard of the industry (both private and commercial). A report is not a question or a request for clarification, it's an explicit demand for punitive measures. Accept that and work from there. Nope. A report is a request for an investigation. If punitive measures are needed, then they will be called in to play. Accept that and work from there. Now, it's quite possible that you are projecting because you only report someone when you want punitive measures to be made against a person, but that's not the case with everyone.

It is here, when Homecoming hasn't set a policy. You're trying to dictate their policy (armchair GMing) and you intend to be disruptive until they accede to your demands (extortion). Reporting in game does not mean that you want Homecoming to set an official stance, it means you want the players you report to be penalized for it. By all means demand a public stance, but don't do by being hostile to other players and a pest to GMs. A lot will depend on the approach. A one and done is not armchair GMing. Repeated and constant reports for the same thing would be filed under that. Keep in mind that this is only if you find it a direct concern. It's not a recolored image of Darkwing Duck. It is related to the Darkwing Duck franchise, though. Learn your supervillains, jeez. :P Nor am I seeking to make anything resembling profit off of it or a service. Once I manage to get a good screenshot of my main, I will replace it. End of the school year is a busy time for me right now.
