NegaChron, a magical time-traveler who landed in the wrong version of the past he wanted, but he'll use his Demon Summoning and Temporal powers to gain Power in Praetoria or the Rogue Isles. Reverberitone was a citizen of Praetoria who tumbled on a power suit that uses sonic amplifiers and energy shields to protect the citizens despite the PPD. Emerald Shillelagh was working at a school when ancient magical powers were activated in him to protect the students when they were attacked by a Ghoul squad. They have manifested in Radioactive punchs and subtle biological enhancements to allow him to be strong in scrapping against those who would harm Praetoria's citizens. Shadow Rage had bio-implants installed to call powers to bind criminals with shadow and assault their minds. Umbrom, fresh from the Zig, was a Hellion who mushed up an imp to create his tattoos. They've allowed him to blast and shield with shadows, but the magic has been altering him... Garra Verde was a member of the Resistance till Neuron got his hands on him. Now his altered form has infected his mind and turned him in to a Savage Brute with Radioactive Skin.

The original Bludd Quartz from before Sunset, more or less. Mutant Stone Armor/Energy Melee Tanker who was injured in the Rikti Invasion and the arms were replaced with cybernetics. The new Bludd Quartz, the nephew of the original, taking his Stone powers to Tank with Shield and Stone Melee. Thermal Bloom, a Nature Affinity/Fire Blast Defender. A former member of the Circle of Thorns and Elemental Order, seeking repentance for the crimes of the past. Magma Rider, an Earth/Fire Dominator native of the Earth's core who ascended to gain the power to take over his home land.

That would probably also work for a Mental or Illusion/Rad Controller/Dominator. And hey, different ranks available!

Well... One Thanos was. The 616 Thanos was a nihilist who destroyed half the universe as a bouquet to his love. Yup, honestly, the MCU messed this up, if you ask me, by leaving Death and his obsession with her out of the whole thing. I'm somewhat on the fence about it. Thanos isn't as well known as, say, Lex Luthor (though he's change A LOT in the comics as well as cinematic offerings), which allows for some potential rewrites. The Green Peace Thanos we meet in Infinity War was more empathetic and actually tried to communicate with his emotions, while the Nihilist Thanos was just flat out more egomaniacal, which made him harder to come to grips with. You actually see some of that in the presentation of both types of Thanos in Endgame, which is part of what makes that movie so epic. On the other hand, it goes to show how even one villain can represent different motivations and personalities depending on when they are written, which is a good thing for us creating the villains, as it shows different ways of taking the same character and making them as multi-dimensional as we want.

Tanker issues have been around for a long time. One of the more interesting ones is that our Inherent doesn't rely on the Primary like every other normal Archetype does, it relies on the Secondary. Admittedly, this is a huge difference from the "issue" of making gameplay boring for everyone else. That having been said... Tanks already can taunt more in combat, normally, but I can easily see this being a thing. It shouldn't be that difficult to reprogram, either, because it is just numbers. Numbers, I should add, which were adjusted down once already. Now, if they can just find out where that number is... This would be great, but would be a much harder programming task, as it involves getting in to AI responses, and those can be messy. As a side note, and semi-related to this topic, would it be a bad thing if Tanker auras had a larger area of affect than their Scrapper or Brute versions? Not a large degree, but say a 50% at most, 25% at a minimum.

And you can always use one of the costume change emotes along with a macro to set up the changes ala Iceman and Firestar from Spider-man and His Amazing Friends (I kind of miss that show).

Back before Sunset, I had a villain who was the equivalent of a frankenstein monster put together by a team of 5th Column and Vahzilock 'scientists'. He was awakened shortly before the lab he was created in was hit by a hero, so he retaliated and was sent to the Zig. While in the Zig, he learned from other villains, books, and the internet. Once released by Arachnos, he went about doing things to get power and control. My current villains include an Earth/Fire Dominator who is one of the few survivors to make it through a crack in the crust to be above the surface. His current purpose is to amass power to go back and take control of his home, but he may get distracted. My other villain is a Dark/Dark Sentinel Hellion whose group smashed up a shadow imp and used the bits in his tattoos to take its power into himself. It mostly worked, but now he attracts souls like lodestones and thirstily seeks more to add to his throng. I have a Praetorian going through the Power story line that will go Villain that is a magical time traveler who ended up in the past of a different universe than he intended. That doesn't change his eventual goals to be the magical power of the planet, it just needs to go by a different route than he intended. And then I have a Crusader Praetorian. Think a humanoid godzilla brute that creates chaos with his savagery and radioactive skin. He's just there for the chaos. He's one of the ones that wants to watch the world burn. So, yeah, so many ways to write a villain. But that's only IF you want one. You could always go Rogue for a little bit to get the exploration badges, after all.

I took Stone Cages over Stone Prison because it is aoe. While it may have not much use once you get more AOE controls and it's acc is a little lousy, I find it helpful to keep those minions in check while I spank their Lt around with Fossilize in the early levels. I can always respec out of it later, after all. I also went with Incinerate. You may not like being in melee, and if so, Grav and Mind are far better Primaries for that. Incinerate is going to be your hardest hitting power available to you for some time, and if you're not taking AOE controls right away, you WILL be in melee or moving around a lot for the short bit. Use it as a finisher if you need to early on, but I do recommend using it. It's made my Earth/Fire Dom a lot quicker at killing.

Before Sunset I was trying to think of a name for a Plant/Fire Dominator. I was reading the book series written by David Weber and John Ringo that starts with March Upcountry and they talk about the surge of heat that comes out of a plasma weapon called, "thermal bloom", and it fit. Since Sunrise, Nature Affinity has become a thing, so he's become a Nature/Fire Defender since. The Defender is easier, but I can't say the Dominator wasn't fun, either. I also have a Grav/Dark Dominator called Twilight's Mass and an Earth/Fire Dominator called Magma Rider.

Yeah, some of the Natural Ranged groups, the power suit groups, and all the others that rely on otherwise stored equipment would be "at a disadvantage", unless they've a properly tuned teleporter for their uniform and equipment to suddenly come in, as opposed to, say, a Mutant who can burn just by thinking about it.

Heh, my altoholism didn't let me play a single CHARACTER to 50, either Villain or Hero. I only pushed one of heroes high enough to get Granite because he was my Global handle. I did have a Villainous Brute up in his 20s, though, a bouncing Dark/Fire.
-
To start off with, who are your favorite villains? After 50ish years, you should have some. From there, have your character starting out from there. OR Play an undercover Hero. They're there researching the Rogue Isles and getting all the information so they can point out the weak points to the Freedom Phalanx at the right time to strike at Lord Recluse.

Unless you have some personal or thematic reasons, wouldn't Radiation Blast make hitting with your Kinetic Debuffs a lot easier?

In a city where gangsters spend time tugging on a purse openly in a street being patrolled by super-powered beings, why would it be some form of stealth? Right now, you can do everything but be stealthy while you walk around the city. And when you Walk, every power is disabled until you turn it off. So, I don't really see how effective this is, even from an RP perspective.

Oh, please, we all know it was another Nemesis Plot.

Do the P2W prestige enhancements stack in a single power?
Charistoph replied to dmaker's topic in General Discussion
Not so much the reason I do it, but I split them up because a power that is recharging can't proc, and slots are so limited at low levels that it isn't worth it to maximize your first selected Attack, imo. Which is a SO level of power, all told, just split between benefits. In order to improve on it, ignoring the proc, you would need twice the slots to improve the over all affect of them. -
I wonder how this translates into the costume files...

Some were cash options, and some were expansion rewards so they were available from Creation. Not at launch. And your point? No one mentioned launch before now. In fact, Capes weren't allowed at launch AT ALL. It wasn't for a couple Issues till you could even do missions to unlock them. In universe, the reason was due to Hero 1's sacrifice (he had a HUGE cape). The creation capes were in by Going Rogue, much less Sunset. In fact, I think I got one from City of Villains CE, but it has been so long.

They are -Recharge/+DAM, not +ACC, sadly. Personally, I spread them out across powers so their procs can be used more often. -
She almost looks Aztek or Incan to me. Maybe look up some interesting names from there?
-
I went Dark, and while I haven't gotten him very high, yet, it shows interesting promise. At the very least, I don't see a need to get any of the melee powers, so I can easily convince myself to stay at range.

That's usually my First Power Pool. (I don't consider Fitness to be a Power Pool any more, as it comes fully in to play automatically.) I usually get the Defensive power for it first (unless using Stone Armor).

Decoupling Pronouns From Body Type
Charistoph replied to Wolf Bonne's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Because people have made it a political issue whenever it comes up. However, you do bring up a point that I've always wondered. Why are the heavies always assumed to be male? I know of a few comic ladies who were not petite at all, and would have a hard time recreating them using the Physique slider. And then there is the other aspect I mentioned with the Kheldians being able to hop boddies, and what about Thor and when Jane was worthy enough to pick up Mjolnir. I almost wonder if it would be easier to add that as a fourth gender than putting in the suggestion you said. After all, you have to go through A LOT of code, including the responses, to fix it. So why isn't it fine for humans? That sounds rather specist. Most of humanity's cultures tie pronouns to biology where it applies, and it is only a few cultures which do tie pronouns with any cultural significance (such as the Latin languages, which have no indefinite pronouns). It's fine to assume, if a person corrects you on what they use for themselves, that's your hill to die on if you wanna. I don't really care what a dog might think or a fictional alien. Like I said, not really the point of my suggestion. Ain't here to change minds lol. It's not so much a hill to die on, as it is getting charged, San Juan Hill-style, over it.
