It is a nice idea, however - we have a lot of costume slots, can make our bluejeans and t-shirt, no cape no aura costume, use self control or swap bars to do the same thing. I am glad to see I am not the only one who has. :)

"Toxic" Community?.. My thoughts, feel free to add your own!
Zep replied to PseudoCool's topic in General Discussion
I see very small things in game -- LF 2 more for TF NO WARSHADES ALLOWED type stuff. Where I see the cyanide is in the forums - again a minority, they just get more attention and have an easy time spreading vitriol. The COH community as a whole has always been helpful, friendly and considerate. We all just need to remember that the best way to deal with trolls is to not feed them as you are not able to reason, compromise, or find middle ground at all. Hungry trolls move on. -
Or else what? I dont get what your saying? You imply a threat I dont see.

for partial or full time?

/storm controllers (or fire tollers that took bonfire) are probably the only controllers not happy with the change. Still, it will fix so much of the frustration with AOE immob, especially in the hands of new controllers. As someone who’s still learning the basics on my private server, I’m amazed at all of these updates. /signed I use firecages to hold mobs in place while I tornado / lightning storm / bonfire etc. Or, well, I used to. I can see removing it from the single target, as it is with firecages the -kb is(was) a much shorter duration then the immob. This allowed firecages to really help nail mobs down and keep them in place for nuking. Or was the change just for the single target immob?

Omg! Awesome work. Thank you all!

Federated Servers + Centralized Character Database Participation?
Zep replied to Marstead's topic in General Discussion
I like the idea of a common BACKUP server that could also be used for character transfer between comparable COH worlds. Someone would prob hack it and cause problems though :( -
I never owned the physx card, it didnt take Nvidia too long to take them on as competition and add software to allow NV cards to also do the same thing. NV now owns the company that was making the card (forgetting name of it right now). Getting purchased by NV prob made someone rich.

Super speed or fly through a pile of newspapers and watch them fly everywhere and get sucked up in the partial vacuum behind you. All sorts of things interacted with the in game debris.

It shouldn't take long for the trolls to find a new bridge to hang out under. What I have been reading happening to some of the other COH servers we are getting off easy. I honestly dont get it myself. In 7 years of COH I /ignored 1 person. You'd see a little bickering and pissyness in the old forums here and there. Nothing awful (that I saw anyways) - I just think with 100000 subs we have all 12 of the truly disgruntled COH players posting all at once right now. It is nice to see the nice, helpful, friendly community is reasserting itself. -

Homecoming Server Update (May 29th): User Agreement & Policy Updates
Zep replied to Jimmy's topic in Announcements
I suspect some people have misunderstandings about what a non-profit is or is not. It is clear that Homecoming is serving the public. With the internet self education is just a click away: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/non-profitorganization.asp Non-profits are allowed to have and pay employees, save money for emergencies, etc. It is clear Homecoming is entirely supported by volunteer hours. Thank you again to all those volunteers. -
Have you tried running it as admin?

I had a dps meter in the old days. It might have been ATC, I remember a fussy set up. I rarely spoke to other people about my own numbers, just used it to test this vs that for myself and keep track of buffs and stuff. Total 'kills' er arrest was fun too. (for me anyways).

I like it here.... maybe this little thing or that might not be exactly perfectly how I want it - BFD. OMG I get to play again!!!!! It doesnt take much work digging around to find VMs that can be downloaded and run your own server at home -- I've run across I24 and I25 versions. I have a copy in a safe place as protection against the future. Anyone can make their own server and run it any way they want. I dont see room for any serious griping. I will not be providing any links out of respect for Homecoming's desire to not share code as mentioned up stream in this thread. (Like the OP). I cant say enough times and ways how nice it is to have this world back!

There is a response to PhysX in the latest update thread. They are working on staying compatible with everyone for now and when a new launcher is out that supports separate .dll/clients per server they will update.

Anyone know how to read/see posts in the old forums?

Thank you for doing this just the same. -
A question for those who've been here a while....
Zep replied to JnEricsonx's topic in General Discussion
I played from issue 1 to the night it was turned off - took some breaks and dont claim to be the best player or market manipulator. Now: As you get to higher levels more money will come in. Leveling up pre market it could be painful each time you out grew a set of SO's. Sell salvage and recipes, take a few min to check what it is selling for before listing it and you should do well enough. Some recopies can sell for quite a lot so check the price before posting. Other's I am sure will have more specific advise. -
[Proposal] UNGIMPING basic Peacebringer design game mechanics
Zep replied to Redlynne's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Maybe it is time we all agree KB can be a contentious topic - like some real world ones, and either all agree to best manors or drop the subject. We have ppl on the keep it as it is and change it now band wagons that are not going to change their minds. Lets find a way to enjoy the game the way it is flaws (as we perceive them) and all. We just got back to our personal Oz and are all headed to the emerald city ( go with the analogy ) lets not set the Scarecrow on fire while selling the Tin Man for scrap. -
I'm going to address this because it keeps being brought up, and it is intentionally not being "fixed" right now. Reason #1: if you bump your Particle Physics to "Very High", you get the same amount of particle physics as if you had a PhysX card. This happens on the CPU, not the GPU, but for modern computers this barely registers. Reason #2: the "fix" involves upgrading the PhysX libraries (the DLLs in your game folder) to a newer version. So if we do that we are no longer compatible with the libraries shipped with Issue 24 Beta. This is a problem because it breaks the original client, as well as the client of any server that doesn't implement this "fix". It's a really bad idea to mess with the DLLs as long as multiple servers are sharing a COH install. A similar problem would happen if we were to enable the error reporting DLL (crashrpt.dll) in order to collect crash logs; as soon as we put that DLL in there, we start getting crash reports from every server, not just Homecoming. Bad idea. The solution is the Sunrise patcher, which will keep server-specific files on their own folders. At that point we can certainly start upgrading DLLs and adding our own features. But as long as all the servers are sharing a COH install folder, messing with the DLLs is irresponsible at best, malicious at worst. Thank you for the information. It is very much appreciated. I look forward to the update which, I fully understand, will happen when it is ready. Thank you to everyone making Homecoming happen.

QTF I get why it can be a pain for team mates - usually a grumpy scrapper for some reason, still it can be managed. -
Have you reported it to flux? COH is old and likely has issues playing well with a few things - I am surprised I have not heard of more problems.

This is not typical. What drive/folder do you have the game installed to? Try running the game as admin (assuming windows). Please also post some system specs and make sure graphics, sound and other drivers are all up to date and your win/apple os is fully up to date.
