Brawl, Origin attacks, Redraw... remind me?
Replacement replied to Replacement's topic in General Discussion
Thanks, I thought it was something like that. Specifically, 6 powers that need re-keyed any time you add a new "prop" animation. I'm not holding out hope for any sort of new animations, but I wouldn't put it past HC to surprise us with simply better code, if the issue ever turns out to not be baked into the animations themselves. -
I know this came up on the old forums enough to cause people to roll eyes and get exhausted, but I cannot for the life of me remember what the justification was: Why can I brawl with a titan weapon but not use any other Click power without it getting stolen by invisible Nictus entities?

Focused Feedback: Experimentation (Build 1 - 4)
Replacement replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
Yep, it's specific to leadership style buffs it seems. That makes a lot of sense when you put it like that. At time of casting, it would inherit all your buffs after that first moment for leadership to wear off, it being a pseudopet, wouldn't be valid to receive the buff from the caster, so it wouldn't refresh that portion. Confirmed with Enrages and Adrenal Boost -- these affect it without issue. Interesting, though, because this means pseudo pets inherit your buffs when I assumed all this time they simply take your stats (such as damage bonus at time of casting). -

Level 27 Arachnos soldier, 2x Damage enhancements (level 30, 34.8% each) in Corrosive Vial. 0% Global damage bonus Tooltip damage: 6.52/tic. Actual: 6.52 Enable Tactical Training: Assault (15% damage bonus) Actual damage: still 6.52. Given a bit of rounding errors, this should be about 6.62/tick. I'm going to try to give myself some bigger global damage bonuses to be sure, but this looks like it's not inheriting character +damage; just enhancements on that power alone. EDIT Ok, inside the spoiler is combat log paste. Removed damage enhancements. Base of 3.83 damage unenhanced Running Tactical Training: Assault (15% damage bonus). Should give a damage of 4.4/tick. You can see in this log, it starts at 4.41/tick for 2 ticks (x2 targets).. and then it defaults back to 3.83. EDIT2: Next activation only gave increased damage on the 1st tick (against single target) before returning to unenhanced damage. -

Corrosive Vial doesn't show any log output. Is this a BUG or normal for pseudopet entries? Or are we even using pseudopets on new powers, given HC apparently figured out a way to redo that stuff without one. Updated my Combat tab to include pet stuff. That did the trick. About the recharge "nerf": Global Recharge is already the most powerful stat in the game. I don't mind the nerf, and I'd mind it even less if you could hook it up such that Recharge enhancements slotted into Speed of Sound would be inherited by Jaunt. Consider having only half of it ignore global recharge? I put "nerf" in quotes 'cuz y'all gotta remember you are smoke testers and this is not something that even exists to be nerfed on the Live servers. -
I have my own suggestion I'd like to submit, but it requires an explanation of current functionality: Right now, Jump Kick is separated into 2 parts: Animation #1: forward flip kick, ends with character in a crouched position. Uninterruptible Animation #2: backflip into standard combat stance. Interruptible. This only plays if you take no further action. I like the 2nd animation and really just want a reason to get to see it outside of "this is an easy enough fight that I don't feel threatened." Suggestion: Jump Kick: Now holds player in the last frame of Animation #1. Reactivate within 3 seconds to play Animation #2 and provide Hold and Knockback protection. Now you can totally repurpose Acrobatics, or leave it the same to stack up the mezes. Or add a different benefit to the Reactivation (ideally defensive).

Yeah, I like the flavor for sure. But I think what's clear is, as a community, we are more interested in the usability of Group Fly delivering on its promise than we are of adding spice or overall power budget of the power. Btw, I'm basically in agreement with merging Combat Jumping and Acrobatics -- Acrobatics is worthless, to my eyes. However, the Endurance cost would need to go way up. CJ already has far lower end cost than it's supposed to have. People will not be happy with the price of adding in the too-low-to-matter Hold protection or the "shoulda just bought an IO" KB protection.

Suggested adjustment (and I see now you've already edited this once): Append Whirlwind to Flurry instead. I would go with "If you are at least level 14 and have any other power from the Super Speed pool, activating Flurry will make Whirlwind available for a short while" or something. There's a lot of room to play with the specifics, but the point is to fuse the two joke powers (flurry and whirlwind) into one purchase. And I don't think SS needs a defense bonus, personally. The Recall Friend/Teleport Foe combination power could definitely stand to have their casting times cut down as well (both are around 5.5 seconds currently). EDIT: I don't quite understand @Steampunkette's vehemence about your Group Fly effect. I know what you're talking about with the funny soul storm "floaty hold" animation and that would be fun. But I'd rather see focus on making Group Fly just more usable. My understanding is it does give nearby allies 10 seconds of flight, so they have a wee bit of tolerance to leaving the area? I'd start with extending that window. Something like 40 seconds. The other thing that would be really nice is a pop-up tray that shows "Granted Flight" as a 0-endurance toggle, already enabled. This would let players choose to detoggle it at their leisure. That, granted by a 40 second "Group Fly" buff that refreshes when you're near the caster, could be really nice. Oh, and something I think all video games need but is not easy to program: +fly speed buff when flying towards the caster, so it's easy to catch up.

The unaddressed problem with new Electric powers
Replacement replied to Draeth Darkstar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Indeed. If you think about it, the sleep effect (iirc, it plays a "shocked" animation), even if it's a middling chance and a short duration, is really good for buying more time for sapping. I also like the idea of either an Endurance tax, or simply lowering the max end of EB/AV/GM. Even if the Resist values were tuned so Time-to-Zero-Endurance stays the same, this would result in them getting less Endurance/tick, which would be really nice. -

Replacement replied to ScarySai's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Ok, changing the goalpost here but... yes, for sure it's adding complication. But the remotely placed taunt time bomb really is an Omega Maneuver clone at that point. I mean, I'm honestly not against it, but we already had one complaint about stepping on VEAT toes. So yeah, that would be an acceptable route (bias: says the person who thinks EATs should've just been power sets for other ATs). -

Have two powers that still continue to work exactly as they are on Live, sans the Taunt you so eagerly want to get rid of, but also create a new option for soloists like me. Yes, please. Seriously, read Red's suggestion and realize it gives up nothing, gets you your taunt-less drone, and lets me "build" one. -

I think it would be neat. @Redlynne That would hit the goal of having somewhere else for bullets to go that's not your face, but on your own terms. But as you mentioned, implementation may not be realistic. -
Focused Feedback: Dark Melee Update (Build 1)
Replacement replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I think this is a point where it's really important to compare to Live. Once I'm over the knee-jerk and realize that "portion of damage that scales off of Endurance instead of Damage enhancements" doesn't even exist on live, that this is all cream cheese frosting, I'm super ok with this. But also, about the critting: Both Lightning Rod and Shield Charge deal their damage via pseudopets. I guess I always assumed that was the only reason they didn't crit. Oh well, I'll get over it. -
Focused Feedback: Dark Melee Update (Build 1)
Replacement replied to Jimmy's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I'm guessing this basically means a portion of the damage will be unenhanceable? I'm ok with it, just don't do what 5th Edition D&D did and go over-the-top with anti-synergies: "Rangers traditionally dual wield? Make sure they only gain bonus damage once/turn." "Barbarians traditionally use big slow weapons? give them +static damage that can only scale by getting more attacks (start dual wielding, etc)" I'm a little more curious/worried about not-critting. This might just be a precedent I'm unaware of? I'd take low-damage crits, pretty sure we have those. But no-crits seems harsh. -
I got really mad at myself when I discovered two of my favorite toons to play were both running the same face. This was a big deal. Stopped my leveling of both for several days as I compared all their outfits to other faces and decided which one needed a literal face-lift. As for the "desire to ding" -- I'm blessed and cursed, here. I have this thing where, even if i'm only 2 kills away from leveling, I can tell myself "that will be something to look forward to next time I log in." It's really effective and mostly healthy! But it also means I have a lot of RPGs I've abandoned right before the final boss.

The unaddressed problem with new Electric powers
Replacement replied to Draeth Darkstar's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
My suggestion: If there's any plans to make a pass on individual enemies in the game, I would take the opportunity to strip out most passive benefits (e.g. inherent Resist values or damage bonuses) and add them instead as toggles that drop on Endurance 0. This would turn Sapping into a sort of universal dispeller. And I should add: I do think the game needs a pass of individual enemies. -
I'm not touching... whatever's going on here. But I find it odd to see "blapping" associated with Defiance 1.0. I'm of a mindset that blapping (scrapping on your blaster) really only rose above joke level once Defiance 2.0 came along. Especially when suddenly you could respond to Disorients by locking down a Warrior charging you with your ST Immobilize (yeah! ignoring mez was part of 2.0!). I'm sure I'm suffering from some selective memory, here, but I don't think I'd ever enjoy blapping under 1.0 (indeed, I'd just abuse it for snipes). EDIT: Also, I intentionally declare some of my Blasters as Blasters to myself. Basically, a soft promise to myself that I'll do my level-best to not blap. It's a hard promise to keep. Context: someone who only became interested in Controllers once they read about Fighting pool Containment Controllers.

I keep trying to think of good criticisms to post here but nothing terribly interesting yet. I enjoy the set. I agree with @oedipus_tex - Jaunt feels great. Part of that is the sound of it. It feels and sounds snappy and just all over neat. I like the recharge on Corrosive Vial. This feels just right for a power pool that's actually allowed to -gasp!- have an effect on combat. I do have to say, though, we have officially implemented the 2 origin sets I care about the most (utility belt and gadgetry) last. -

I just checked in-game. This really is a 400% taunt (same as Brutes). That's really unreasonable. I was expecting this to be something like mag 1-2 - enough to help while solo but entirely invisible in a party setting. @Captain Powerhouse, this needs another look. -

I'm still curious to know if it's possible to add a negative taunt duration to it. E.g. 14 second taunt pulses, with unenhanceable -14 second taunts. Net effect: 0 second taunt; throwing taunt enhancements into it would "activate" it by pushing it above 0. I am dismayed at the idea of forcing players to lose any slotted taunt sets so, while I agree it's not working out at high-end play, I'm trying to come up with solutions that don't do any further harm. I wonder if an entity can be set up to simply duplicate stats of another. In this case: Gun Drone always inherits the better of yours or its own Defenses and Resistances.
