Officially Unofficial Weekly Discussion #10: Alt-itis
Troo replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in General Discussion
It's bad.. really bad. so many cool combinations and archetypes. I know I have a problem when I get a new character through some of the lower task forces just to realize I've already got one of this combination in the mid 40s. I'd guess Just under forty 50s with an equal number in progress. The rest didn't workout and seem abandoned in the 24-40 range OR are so far down the list they don't get played. Be right back with some numbers. Indom = 8 pages (21 50s) Excel = 9 pages (17 50s) Everlasting = 2 pages (1 50) 2 or 3 pages combined for the rest Surely not enough alts to even be in the top 20% of players club. Days Offline oldest for me is 605 with second at 427 (a bunch at 176). About 1/2 the 50s get played rarely. Why do I keep making them rather than playing the same over and over? It's fun to make new characters, costumes, and see how they play. Other contributing factors? #1 Changes to existing powersets which make them not as fun. #2 I have a Troo or two on each server. My biggest related request: Better sorting tools to avoid duplicate combos. ("search" is okay) Biggest wish request: Powerset respecification. Many times it is just one of the powersets that isn't working out. I'd give 10 levels to be able to ditch a poor match rather than start a new character as we have to now.. -
yep aiming a little extra shooting a little further lighting the arrow on fire snap shot, stun, or explosive are the same time.

For newer tankers Invulnerability and Shield are excellent choices. Dull Pain possibly giving Invulnerability an edge. As a tanker grows in experience and know how.. other sets can become compelling. (Bio, Dark, Elec, Fiery, Rad) Sure a player can go Super Reflexes or Stone, in a lot of ways it is preference and playstyle. If someone loves the teleport travel powers and being a giant stone golem, please be a Stoner. Mentioned tanker reads: (some suggest skipping to page 10 or 11 if I remember correctly)

2023..01.03 the entity Faultline was observed doing.. something.

Archery is supposed to be relatively quick and has higher accuracy than other sets. That is it's shtick. If redraws are happening and there's a pause at the end of animations.. that would be annoying. I'm going to double check later but you may have found a bug as Akison stated. It could be Arcanatime vs Animation Time Before Effect..? Where's my Super Pack: Lords of Winter Sale?
Troo replied to BlackSpectre's topic in General Discussion
It really is/was this simple. When it became abused at a significant enough scale, it was ended. I'm surprised to see no mention of any issues that arose from opening many packs at a pace that had a system impact. -
Monstrous Fur is just too much. Maybe there is a hairy chest option I'm not familiar with buried in the options somewhere? but I wanted a EM/FA broot.. We'll be going with a Temp Power for the thematically epic 'draw Revolver' pose 🙂

Energy Melee was "finely tuned" to be just above average except in short bursts. Forcing the use of Total Focus or be stuck with long Energy Transfer reins in any sort of sustained super high damage per second. If anyone wants details on making it perform on a Scrapper I take a peak here.

hmm that seems a little low. an example I have at 90% fury is 1,100+ & 1,300+ with Buildup. 4 procs one proc
-
This is excellent work. Sure, this is slanted toward heavy proc use and should favor Tanks over Scrappers and Brutes. Still it seems to be a solid data point. Another important data point would be the one proc limitation which would have different results. Another data point would be the one proc limitation without Incarnates which may have different results. Leveraging 4 or 5 procs may be the meta but is simply not what most players are doing. M.E.T.A. as I understand it is the Most Effective Tactic Available. The meta may change based on a number of factors. It may be different at level 40 versus level 50 and again versus Incarnate levels. Basically, once getting in the ballpark of 100% damage and enough accuracy to reliably hit targets additional slotting could go to another power, enhance another aspect such as range, or be used to hold special proc enhancements. If your goal is damage a "chance of damage" might be best. There are also procs for +recharge, -resistance, -tohit, -defense, etc. Some advanced number crunching can potentially reveal an optimal point where slotting below 100% damage in an individual power is more effective. Here an example from @Ston makes sense: Musculature Core Paragon + (lvl 53 Acc/Dam HO x 2) + 4 procs (2) Level 53 Acc/Dam HOs equals about 76% Acc/Dam with more Acc/Dam and -end, +rech, etc potentially coming from other sources (other powers, other players, buffs, Incarnates, ect.) and then the 4 procs on top of everything else The next example from @Ston is simply broken and shows why procs will be addressed. Even 4 procs can seem extreme especially used on 16 targets. Vigor Core Paragon + (lvl 53 Acc/Dam HO x 1) + 5 procs A level 53 Acc/Dam HOs equals 38.3% Acc/Dam with most Acc/Dam and -end, +rech, etc coming from Incarnates and presumably buffs as well as other sources (other powers, other players, ect.) and then 5 procs on top..

Officially Unofficial Weekly Discussion #8: Pets
Troo replied to SeraphimKensai's topic in General Discussion
The reason is in the names, is it not? Minions and Lieutenants should not be as strong as Players, should they? Could the implementation have been better or more elegant, sure. If Phantom Army are short lived they should immediately be respawnable if character has the endurance. Just saying. Pets that are easily defeated with recharges that exceed reasonable life expectancy or durations which are eclipsed by recharges... Waiting to recast regular pets can suck. -
Armor T9s: thoughts, reviews, and suggestions
Troo replied to PoptartsNinja's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
@PoptartsNinja lots of good details and some decent suggestions. Bearing in mind the level at which a T9 becomes available they are game changers. That said, I've assumed since enhancement diversification that we were given the opportunity to respec out of T9s when they might became superfluous as we acquired enhancement sets and more complete builds. Even more so with Incarnates. oh nooo.. rant alert.. I believe powers may be valuable early in the game and then become simply not needed in later levels. This is part of the secret sauce that can be lost on endgamers. Character evolution, character specialization, and character diversity can fade in a haze of FOTM, google me the bestest T4 50 possible, and farmz me there now or I will spam all global chat channels until I gets whats I wants. Serious question: Would you rather revamp T9s or have Genesis, Mind, and Omega Incarnates? -
Not the worst and may work just fine. You got your 90% fire resist covered and 40%-ish fire defense will work in all but the most intense farm situations. It is a tad expensive for what you are getting though. Damage is a bit light on your build as is recharge. Attached is a much cheaper and not at all perfect build for some alternate ideas. It has less defense (36% fire) but more damage and more recharge which help a lot. Brute Spine Fire.mxd

good luck. on the bright side, those enhancements can be stripped and reused later. 😁 (i can't remember ever doing this to be honest, I just shelve)

Sorry, I'm done with Mids for a while.
Troo replied to Hyperstrike's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
I feel ya. I use 3.1.2.5 (page 3) I had to reinstall to get that running and that was the end of updating. I very much appreciate the efforts put into trying to keep it up to date. That said, I'd rather have an old out of date version than the latest and greatest which works on and off. That's just me. -
as always, Yomo gleeful at the council of ebil
-
@DRoddo Did you end up trying this? I imagine one issue could end up being another will be Dull Pain not being perma, you'll want that. Regardless, the 4 big accolades will be helpful AND get Demonic Aura also. It will chain nicely with Rune of Protection, Instant Healing, Moment of Glory, etc.

AE Tickets or Reward Merit buy crafted Purples
Troo replied to Troo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I've got purple recipes piling up faster than I can reasonably acquire rare salvage.. I could use a little less than 200 rare salvage at this point. ..and yes it could save some extra steps. I don't mind crafting but if prices on one salvage get wildly manipulated, it gets to be a bit of a hassle. -
I run Hide and Stealth. The additional defense and Luck of the Gamble mules are helpful.

I seems easier to buy a Purple and convert rather than craft a specific one at this point...
