The OG has returned! *bows* I wanted soft-capped positional defenses, decent resists underlying the defenses (as high as I could manage in a reasonable harmony with defense and damage) and a seamless (or mostly seamless) attack chain. You were the original inspiration @Murcielagoand this was based on an older build of yours, which was likely before the changes to Dark Melee went through.

  4. I have never played Electric Armor and wanted to give it a whirl. Since it is a resist set I chose a Brute to try it on and decided to pair it with Energy Melee because why not? Now I need some help to tweak, edit and fine-tune the build. Questions/issues: Currently I am short of the softcap for S/L defense. I would have loved to be able to softcap Melee and Ranged defense, but did not find the puzzle pieces to address Ranged (though happy to hear ideas!) so the fall-back was to try and softcap S/L. Any help in this area is greatly appreciated! Finding any further resists (while hitting the def numbers) would be a bonus. The resists are pretty good overall, but room to improve. Slots got tight towards the end and I ended up not slotting Power Sink past the auto-slot. I am not sure if this is a mistake, so any experienced feedback is most welcome! If it is only single-slotted, another argument is drop it completely I guess and maybe add a LotG mule instead (Evasive Maneuvers). All feedback is welcome!   5. Thanks @Uun, I'll take a look! I suspect you and I are chasing slightly different primary goals in our respective builds. For instance, the 6th piece of Defender's Bastion is nice to have, but my Recharge is already more than yours (mainly because I have Hasten and the LotGs). I needed a slot at the time (for what, I don't remember now) and cut it from Single Shot. If I can find a way to work it back in, I definitely will. I franken-slotted Disintegrate mainly because the extra defense the 5th and 6th Winter's Bite pieces provided was overkill. But if I drop Superior Frozen Blast out of Sleet, I need to find the defense to replace it. I agree my Sleet slotting was not optimal and you are entirely correct - damage is a waste in it. That was probably far too tunnel-visioned of me chasing AoE defense. I guess I can take the procs out of Overcharge and use the Frozen Blasts there, drop at least two slots from Sleet Is the extra two slots in each shield worth the investment? I'll have to tinker. Looks like that adds 8% more defense to each in your build, which is significant. I'll have to play around and see if I can find the extra slots. Finally, what Incarnates did you choose for your build? Your build gives me lots to consider, so thanks much!! That's why I post - to get opinions and advice from folks who have real experience playing a certain build and who can speak knowledgably on it. Good stuff!
  6. My latest project is a Cold/Beam Defender. I envision him as staying at range with Hover, using debuffs on tough enemies. In that pursuit, my goals were to chase Ranged and AoE Defense where possible. This is not the order I would take the powers necessarily; it is just easier in Mids sometimes when you are trying to see what you can fit in at 50. So view this as at "at 50" build, rather than a leveling build. Any tweaks or feedback (big or small) is welcome!   7. If you are using auto-fire for Hasten (and have the recharge to make it perma) it allows you to forget about having to manually fire it. But that also means you can't use your auto-fire on anything else (like mez protection potentiallyl).
  8. Definitely no salt in your reply Bill, just facts. Some folks get riled up easily, especially online. Taking Hasten can often allow you to take fewer attacks, possibly saving you some additional slots to use elsewhere and give you more flexibility. But you can absolutely get by without Hasten and I completely understand why some folks hate feeling forced to take it.
  9. He's not reading your mind, just stating a fact: you cannot have the tight 3-attack chain without Hasten. It's not a criticism; he clearly says to each his own.
  10. Similar to Axe, you may want to look at Broadsword, also a very damaging set with a similar set of powers. While Axe attacks have the benefit of knockdown/knockup, Broadsword's attacks all have -Def. Less CC, but makes it easier to keep hitting. Slash, slash, big damage. Every attack in Axe can slot a Force Feedback, while only two in Broadsword can.

  13. Heh, it does seem that way doesn't it? 🙂 Really the difference is Shadow Maul in your build, which is far better on a Tanker. But that's why I posted - the old logic when I first built this toon before Dark Melee got some changes might not still apply. Thanks for the feedback! I will take a look! I finally got my DM/Shield Scrapper to 50 after putting it on the shelf due to alt-itis and taking an absence from the game. @Murcielagowas/is the OG DM/Shield Scrapper and was instrumental in my interest in the combo and this build. Hopefully they still check the Forums and are still active. I re-jiggered this build a little and wanted to see if anyone had any tweaks or feedback to suggest. I was really unsure how best to slot Siphon Life, whether the ATOs are in the best spots and if the Incarnates are still optimal, but it is all open for debate.   17. Thanks @Hyperstrike! Looks like some good changes. Couple of follow-up questions: Hurl Boulder - Is this worth it with the long cast time over say Stone Mallet instead? The DPA numbers do look pretty good, which I had not expected, and a ranged attack does have some extra utility. Just seems like a tough one to fit into an attack chain. Guess I need to play around and see. Char - Do you find the Hold helpful, or is this more of a set mule for the extra stats (which are great) and Absorb proc? I did not see the Max HP Unbreakable Guard slotted in your build, but I suppose this can just be dropped in Tough since we do not need to activate it. Great feedback as always!
  18. I was originally going to go with /Water but I am not crazy about any powersets relying on combo mechanics. Rad works thematically so I've been trying to build this. I know with Poison the idea is to play close-up in melee range. I'm having a hard time getting decent defense numbers. I imagine my slotting is a mess and leaves much to be desired, as I have also tried to proc up a few of the powers. I have not built out any Incarnates yet which would no doubt help as well. I am also not sure if X-Ray deserves a spot, though I am not crazy about cone powers like Haze. I'm hoping some experts can help me doctor this patient because I like the concept. Thanks in advance! Always love to see comments or a build from one of the experts, but it looks like you did not attach a build to your post. 🙂 Teleport was just a throw-in because I had one pick left. Honestly I probably should have chosen something that could mule a LotG instead. I would have loved to play around with Earth Mastery and maybe take Stalagmites, but did not have the slots left to do so.
  20. I have yet to try Invul (I know, I know) or Stone Melee so I thought I'd try them together. All of the credit on the Invul framework goes to folks like @Hyperstrikeand @Infinitum and any errors are definitely my own. With Stone Melee, I know Hurl Boulder is generally considered trash but I was not sure on Stone Mallet. Slotting worked perfectly with 5 attacks but I suspect I may need to find some additional slots and add Stone Mallet. I will wait and see what others say. I have a little too much S/L defense and I would love to find a way to bleed some of that off while leaving the Melee defense at the softcap (or very close). That's a puzzle I could not figure out. I also was not sure where best to slot the Gauntleted Fist ATO. And the Incarnates may not be optimal either. So...yeah, lots of questions.
