I posted this in General Discussion to make sure I was not missing something obvious. I was looking for a half-mask option (a la Iron Fist from Marvel). The opinion was this did not exist organically within the character creator and you have to kludge something together. As others said in that thread, a full set of tights and using the bald face option with a head pattern to replicate a mask always looks wonky - the texture never seems to match the costume. Has anyone successfully replicated a decent half-mask look? I'd really love the loose cloth strips hanging from the back, but I do not see how that would be possible.

Is there a half-mask option (a la Iron Fist)?
TungstenShark replied to TungstenShark's topic in General Discussion
YES to both of you. It is a hinky work-around and using skin as a base model means the mask never seems to match the rest of the costume. I also hate how wings or points added to masks look just taped on the front and don't really blend. Such a great character builder overall, but the masks and integrations need work. -
I assume there must be and it is operator-error...is there a half-mask option in the creator similar to Iron Fist (though it is probably without the loose cloth strips)? I could not figure out in my sleepy daze last night. I am sure I am going to feel very dumb when someone points it out. 🤔

Originally I was going to roll a Shield Defense / Martial Arts Scrapper (and still may) but I thought about using Martial Arts instead on a Tanker to leverage the +Def from Storm Kick (that Scrappers do not get). Is Pairing Storm Kick's bonuses with Shield Defense just overkill on a Tanker though? Am I better off trying to pair it with a different primary?
-
Dang, it has to be EnA doesn't it? Strong and pretty for the win.

I have been away from CoH for awhile now and want to feel the crunchy goodness of War Mace. Does anyone have an opinion on a second secondary to pair it with? I could always go with the old stand-by of Bio for the extra damage. Stone looks intriguing, but I need to dive into more (once I get Mids updated). I like to make my Scrappers as tough as possible since a dead Scrapper does zero DPS. Anyone have strong opinions or a build they love with War Mace?
-
Is @Murcielago still active on the forums? He (or she? not sure) was one of the OG DM/Shield Scrappers who put a ton of time and effort in creating, tweaking and sharing a build.

Would some one be so kind and post a End game Rad/SS tank build.
TungstenShark replied to GmcNation88's topic in Tanker
@ScarySai has a proc-heavy Rad/SS somewhere as well. Maybe we can get his attention and entice him to post it here. 😁 -
@Xanatos And not to get nit-picky, but you originally posted it was "like 20 extra damage", which is not the same as 20 more damage per second. I would agree, if adding Musc only added 20 raw damage to your hits, (ie. hitting for 320 rather than 300) maybe not worth it. But adding 15%-20% damage per second? I fail to see how that is not useful. But as @Sovera said, have fun, you do you. Your Tank obviously kicks plenty of ass and is durn near unkillable...hard to quibble!

It's no different than when the game came back and people rushed to make up as many gay or homosexual names as possible. My first day back in the game and I had to get teamed with "Pillow-Biter." 🙄 The game is gone for seven years, it comes back with one of the most robust character creators in any game and yet...gays are still funny, hurr, hurr. Regarding the pandemic...I am a proponent of gallows humor as a way to cope and lessen the emotional burden. It does seem in very poor taste to mention COVID in your character at the moment, but to each his own. As someone else said, you are free to make your own names and I am free to judge you for it. I still remember back on Live (waaaay back, when the game was literally just a month or two old) and I teamed up with a Spines Scrapper named "Spina Bifida." I asked him if he knew what the condition was. Short answer...no he did not, when he found out, he found the name even funnier. Classy.

This. My other vote would be War Mace (as others have said), as it has a good mix of ST and AoE attacks.
-
Not on your list, but what about Savage Melee? Has great AoE as well as ST goodness. Just a thought. If you are sticking with one of three you listed, I like SS least of all just because of the harsh crash. Dark Melee would get my vote but War Mace looks even better following the Tanker changes.

Share your Puns/amusing Character Names

Chaotic Neutral: my Thugs/Storm MM (who is also a Vigilante). -
LOL That would be me. 😎 It is a remake of one of my original toons from Live (formerly a Rad/Rad Defender, now a Rad/Sonic Defender). Don't think I'd ever sell the name, but it was so random to see someone post about the name I felt I owed you a response. For the record, names get me too. I will not create a toon until I get a good name to go with the concept. The struggle is real.

The least resisted common damage type?
TungstenShark replied to DR_Mechano's topic in General Discussion
I always thought it was Cold personally. Was surprised to see it was Negative. Good info! -
Dammit @Redlynne, who do you think you are, to start using actual logic and direct answers on the internet??

Tell us. What's your favorite Scrapper combo?
TungstenShark replied to Crowcus Pocus's topic in Scrapper
I will give you the other points, but how in the world can you say Dark Armor is "squishy?" Wow. Are Scrappers "squishier" than Tankers or Brutes? Yes. Is DA a squishy set on Scrappers? No. Unequivocally no. -
I too am a Scrapper at heart, so I feel this on a deep level. 🙂 Or, I am a melee-er at heart, as I also enjoy Tankers (and some Brutes). But I wanted to try other ATs/powersets I have little familiarity with this time around as well. I stopped playing Live around Issue 3 due to computer/family issues and never came back, so there is a lot I never experienced. I want to like the Sentinel AT. It should be like a ranged Scrapper, but in practice falls well short. I was hoping /Bio would help bridge the gap a little bit better. I definitely encourage you to pot your Beam/Bio build! More shared community knowledge is always a good thing!
-
Thanks @Soveraand @carnalchaos! Some of your comments echo my own limited experience with Sentinels, mainly, what is this class trying to do and why would you play it over other ATs? The theorycrafting seems to be much more encouraging than the actual gameplay and output, but I also want to try one all the way to 50 before closing the book on them. And who knows, maybe the AT gets some love at some point and they become more viable. Thanks for the pointers on specific powers and slotting...very helpful!

Congrats @Bill Z Bubba! True dedication to Scrapperdom!

So here is what I have started with, looking around the forums a little bit, trying to focus on the defensive side first. I skipped Aqua Bolt and Steam Spray in Water (this gives me 3 single target attacks and 3 AoEs) and Parasitic Leech in Bio. I am not sure if these are good choices to skip or not, so open to feedback. I want to try and get my typed Defenses to 40% in Offensive Adaption and let Barrier carry the rest of the way to the softcap. Resists...I'd like to push S/L as high as possible and bring the rest along as much as possible. I intend to play this at range, though in this iteration I did choose Knockout Blow from the Epic pools to fit in a FF proc and 4-slot Kinetic Combat bonuses. Certainly open to changes though. The offensive Water attacks I have not slotted yet as I'm still trying to work out the numbers and determine proc potential. Any and all feedback would be appreciated! I have a little experience with Bio (but from the Scrapper side) and zero experience with Water Blast, so I'm looking for some guidance from the community. I came up with a concept I really like which lead me to these two powersets on a Sentinel (which I have almost zero experience with also). For Water Blast, are any of the powers skippable? They all look pretty good, with the exception of maybe Aqua Bolt. I suspect there is not a hard and fast attack chain, given how much AoE is in the Water set. Are any of the attacks proc-friendly, or is it best to just slot for sets and damage (and not frankenslot to chase procs)? Does the set need to chase Recharge? I like the fact the set is ranged with no melee-range powers. Not that I mind melee-range, but I prefer not to jump back and forth if I can avoid it. On the Bio side, at least with the Scrapper version, none of the powers are skippable. I am still still learning the differences between the two ATs. How best to slot for survivability? Should Tough and Weave be included (along with other defense powers like CJ or Hover)? What about Epic powers or Incarnates? Does anyone have a good build to share? I'm not worried about the cost, as I like having something to shoot for at 50. I feel like I don't have a good handle on the Sentinel AT in general and how best to build/slot this powerset combo.

What is the optimum single target rotation for War Mace and how much Recharge do you need to achieve it? I have seen some folks say all you need is Clobber>Shatter>Jawbreaker for an optimum chain, while others say Clobber>Shatter>Jaw Breaker>Pulverize. Who has experience with War Mace and can weigh in on this?

I'm getting the itch to roll another Scrapper again. I think I'm going to give Super Reflexes a whirl (never tried it, though I'm not crazy about clickie Mez protection). What power sets have the fastest attacks? I'm guessing Claws or Katana (never tried either) would be the go-to for fast attack, blender-style Scrapping?
