Specifically, it's actually NOT under Forum Profile like you might think it'd be, it's under Account Settings. See below:

+1 Part of me kind of feels like the forum is kind of a sideshow to the Homecoming team, and that they really just want to use the Discord as their central hub for information and conversation.

This just occurred to me for the first time ever... was it ever stated publicly the names of all of the heroes on the program's loading/login screen? I of course recognize Stateman and Sister Psyche right in the front, but was it ever revealed the names of the other heroes? Are they in the lore somewhere, or did someone just hit the "random" button on the CoH costume maker to make them? There is a couple of images in the CoH Fansite Kit that suggest at a couple of the heroes' names, specifically "Goldie" and "Tat". Anyone have any clue who these peeps were and what their stories were???

OOO! OOO! I just remembered another one... BadStorm! I don't know if "she" was actually female or not, but she managed to always make at least ever other post dripping with sexual innuendo. Here's an example. I want to say she had a green-skinned avatar and was known for playing Empathy Defenders.

HAHA! Nice! I love that one!

The mods have been largely absent moderating these forums, if you hadn't noticed. I think, as a volunteer force, they are pretty busy with the server side stuff. It would be nice if they'd hire some additional volunteer moderators (*raises hand*) that have the time and are willing to just moderate, but it looks like as of right now, that's not their interest. :'(

The Showdown at the Litterbox: And Away we go
_NOPE_ replied to catsi563's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, I swear I read pages and pages of the original thread, and I never understood it. What is this? Roleplaying? Some sort of forum game? Just goofing off, like in a "last person to post wins" thread? Someone explain this thing to me, please. -
Knockback and the new Sudden Acceleration IO set?
_NOPE_ replied to PrinceTycho's topic in Controller
Oh MAN I hadn't read about this IO. I'd be super excited to apply it to Repulsion Field, but.... that endurance hit per enemy hit would be MASSIVE if the enemies weren't flying away from you... ugh! And I won't be sticking it in Force Bolt, because I LIKE the pinpoint ability to knock something where I want it to be... man, I wish I could find a place to use this IO... -
The missionserver, as its called, is a separate piece of software that stores the mission data as created by players. It does use some resources, but that part is not a big deal. Once you start an AE mission, it's loaded in a mapserver, like any other mission. They are not treated any differently. The problem is that players can build missions that are a lot more resource-intensive than normal missions from the game. When enemies spawn in normal missions, most of them have their AI in an "idle" state until they are aggroed, which doesn't require much processing power. But most AE farms rely heavily on ambushes or patrols, which spawn the critters with fully active AI. And that's the problem. Missions are run on 9 servers with a total of 224 cores. For the most part you can run lots of zones and missions on a single core without a problem; but AE farms tend to max out a core all for themselves. If there's just 100 AE AI-intensive farms running, that eats half of the mapserver processing power for all 4 shards. Farmers are not harmless. Farming actively robs resources from the other players. That is a stupid stance. By your standards, GMs shouldn't spawn because they rob resources from people in missions. You're full of it. its a valid point when server resources are as limited as they are currently... also thinking about it a GM is just one mob and anyone fighting it is in the sam instance so the resource overhead is minimal. It's the map servers and the way the AI works that's the resource issue so GMs or multiple mobs is no issue at all HEY! Venture! There's another name from the past. Are you the same Venture from the old forums that always had a Synapse avatar?

I've now preserved these for posterity here.

Is there an AE chat channel built into the system? I don't recall. If there isn't, then we could add one, and not make it a part of the default tabs that show up. Then new players won't be confused by it, but AE Farmers still have a place to "broadcast".

I believe it's because double XP is on right now.

These are fantastic links, thank you FH.

Not at this time. Someone would have to make a new tool for that purpose, as none exists in the released code.

Z-MAN! There's a name I haven't seen in forever! How have you been?

I don't get why this is so much better than CO

A THOUSAND times THIS. -
When you look around in the forums and in game, who are you missing from the old community? Who would you like to see come back and join this reformed community? For me, I'd love to see player Arcanaville and developer Castle come back. I'd LOVE to see what they'd do with full access to the source code and no restrictions for what they could do!

Yeah, when I first read the post, this is what I saw: -

There is no HEART. CO felt inorganic and hollow to me compared to CoH. I have no stats or numbers behind this claim, it's all gut feeling and truthiness to me. -
And for anyone that wanted a version without an installer for some reason... here you go.

I've decided that it was worth it after all to continue this app as a hobby and exercise for myself, so I have. I've updated the program to now handle ALL of the bbCodes that you can see on the current website editor. I've also moved away from using Visual Studio's TERRIBLE "WebBrowser" object, due to known issues with it displaying webpages in "compatibility mode" and breaking CSS. I've left the old PreviewForm inside the solution itself in case I want to re-implement sometime in the future, but for now, I'm "cheating" and just opening up your default browser to "preview" the bbCode. That being said, why should you use this program rather than just using the editor that's built into the browser? Well, the regular editor is fine for day-to-day users, but heavy users that would like more options and greater versatility should consider this tool. My BBCoder has the following options that the built-in web editor does NOT have: Auto-restriction of input window to forum post limit of 20,000 characters - don't you hate it when you type out a HUGE monologue about how AWESOME City of Heroes is, and how you'd like to hump it forever, and when you go to hit the "Send" button, the forum tells you it's too long? Well, you won't have that problem if you use the BBCoder, because you WON'T be able to type any text beyond the post limit! Auto-Lists - This tool gives you the ability to create "auto-lists" in one of two ways. If you have already typed a bunch of items typed out on individual lines, you can just highlight those lines and hit EITHER of the "List" buttons in the program (either ordered or un-ordered), and your text will be "magically" wrapped in a list, like so: Peanuts Toffee Cookies Cake Pie Peanuts Toffee Cookies Cake Pie Auto-Tables/Table Wizard - The same way that you can automatically create lists with the BBCoder, you can also automatically create TABLES! Just make your table by using tabs between columns, and newlines between rows, like so: this is a really really cool table that I hope you can read. Again, highlight all of the text, click the TableWizard button, and PRESTO! Instant table! this is a really really cool table that I hope you can read. ANY color you can imagine for Text, Shadow, and Glow effects - Right now, the built in editor only lets you choose from 15 predefined colors for font text, and Glow and Shadow effects have no color selector at all. Sure, you can research bbCode and hex color codes and figure it out for yourself, but why do that, when you can make use of Microsoft's color picker to create any color you can imagine in your post? The BBCoder lets you use that color dialogue for Text Color, Shadow, AND Glow color! Smilies! Anyone that used the CoH boards should remember Mr. Yellow, the smiley that could! Well, I've built in automatic links to Mr. Yellow into the program, so that you can add any version of him right into your posts anywhere with ease! I'm also considering in a future version a toolbar that lets you create your own "macros" built into the program that allows you to insert your own images into posts with ease from a pre-defined list, but that's coming Soontm. If you don't care about any of that... eh... just use the built in editor, and you'll be just fine.

AE Story Missions Making a Comeback! Twoflower + More! Join Us!
_NOPE_ replied to zsazsas's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm... now I wish there was an "AE Import/Export" tool that could let us import and export all of the AE data as either one, or a collection of files. I wish I had more time to code!
