Are you the one on torch that had the sweet costume? I've spent about 4 hours trying to make mine and I'm not happy with it. Send a screenshot?
-
Awesome! Attempting to recreate the costume has been... difficult for me to say the least. If you ever come across it again, try and snap me a pic?

So here's the thing. I understand the EULA and the prohibition on (TM) characters. I'll be altering names and changing faces to honor this agreement. That being said, I've been pining to create an homage character of MTG's "Ashiok, Nightmare Muse" (picture below). If anyone familiar with the character would be willing to chime in with their opinion as to what Controller Sets best mirrors Ashiok's, I 'd love to hear it. My current thoughts on possible builds are: 1. Illusion/Dark/Psi 2. Illusion/Time/Dark 3. Dark/Dark/Dark 4. Dark/Time/Psi I had considered the Storm Secondary some but was thinking that would be better saved for a Phenax(tm) character later on. Thanks in advance.

Self-proclaimed Melee Dominator aficionado here with my .02 If you're going into melee on a dom; it's my personal belief that you should bring a primary with a PBAoE Aura with you. As other's have mentioned, Electric, Ice and Fire are the only Primaries that afford us one. They're all wonderful (when fully slotted) and complete endurance hogs but become incredible when paired with their corresponding incarnate Interface option. I've recently built the T3 Cognitive Interface on my Ice/Earth/Ice Dom and find the increased confusion procs helpful when paired with those that occur naturally in Arctic Air. Additionally, I've likewise paired Conductive Aura with the Preemptive Interface and Hot Feet with Reactive. This won't happen until Late Game but it's been well worth the time and effort in my opinion. As for Secondary choices; I've become a firm acolyte of the Stone and Energy Assault sets. Both offer hard hitting melee attacks that have additional mitigating secondary effects (such as KD/KU/Hold with Stone and Disorient/Hold in Energy). The hold effect in both Seismic Smash and Total Focus are affected by Domination as well; allowing for one-shot boss holding. The extra Fx of Stone is also a compelling reason to choose it. It evokes a kind of epic primal aggression that some other sets can sometimes lack (looking at you Psi :P). That being said, Psi does supply Drain Psyche & Psychic Shockwave + 2 decent melee attacks in Mind Probe & Telekinetic Thrust. Well worth wading into melee combat with. I've got a 50 Ice/Psi/Ice that's rather wonderful and allows for some big game hunting. Whatever you choose; know that you can't really go wrong with your choice.

Just a quick update. So I've reached 50 and have my Alpha, Judgement & Interface at T3 (Spiritual, Void & Cognitive). I was able to attain 46.5 S/L Defense, 44.7 Ranged & 25 AoE with 46% resistance to cold/fire. I'm able to farm in AE +2/x8 with relative safety and run solo missions at the same difficultly (I lower it for Malta missions. Those sappers, bruh). Oddly enough, farming DA missions in Oro for incarnate salvage has been going great. Endurance can still sometime be an issue if I go flat out and drop all my controls +spam melee attacks but that's earth assault for ya I guess. Still no greater rush in the game in my opinion than melee dominating. Thanks for the advice and help along the way. You guys are great. Off to start planning my 3rd (and final) Earth Assault character. Elec/Earth/Mu. Wish me luck. P.S. Savage Melee (paired with Fire, Ice & Elec) are next in queue.
-
What's the recharge on that? Is Perma-Dom something you're concerned about?
-
But...but...the Smashy goodness and knockdown of stone is so ideal for melee combat! I've yet to try Savage and it's on the short list of powers for me to roll soon. Feeling good about Ice/Stone/Ice.

"Dear Father, I must confess that I've been bringing my Dominators into melee range with alarming regularity and careless disregard for either my own well-being or that of my compatriots... You see Father, I'm sick..." For the past several months I've rolled only Dominators with a PBAoE Auras and literally not any other toon. This means only Fire, Electric and Ice Primaries with a narrow list of secondaries to match. Chief among those are Stone, Energy and Psi. I've leveled 6 of them into incarnates and Io'd them; such is my dedication, nay, obsession with this aspect of the AT. I've now decided to give myself completely over to the vocation of melee domineering and am seeking the apex of the craft. Before embarking on this maddening journey of self immolation; I come humble and yearning for the combined learnings of the Dominator Forum brethren. I've narrowed my build to either Ice/Stone/Ice, Ice/Ice/Ice or Ice/Savage/Ice. Not exactly Baskin' Robbins level of choice but please keep in mind that I currently have a stable of melee dominators; Ice Control being the least played in my stable. I've found the Ice Epics to be the most comprehensive for my style of melee play. Hoarfrost alone would almost make it worthwhile. With this in mind; I ask you good forum go'ers to speak of your own dominator experiences, slotting recommendations and any/all tips as it concerns the chosen powersets. After I pick a combo,I'll post my own build for your critical review.

Glad I'm not crazy. I was buying @329,789 x 1,000 and selling @469,696 with bids almost always going @500+. Then January ended and so did any chance of making a profit. Went back to farming and Defense IOs for cash.

Y'all missing out on the beauty that is TW/Elec.
-
My Fire/Earth/Fire and Electric/Nrg/Mu know of such things. I die more with these characters than any other.
-
So it's confirmed? 9pm EST on Everlasting? Did we have a meeting spot in place? FWIW: Was gonna roll with an Ice/Savage.

@Kelvin: Thank You greatly for supplying your build. I'm ever curious as to how other's build and slot things on all their characters but Dominators in particular. The AT holds some kind of allure to me that I can't quite grasp even a decade since their inception. A real treat, thanks again. @Troo: Using TF > BS > ET has been one of best melee chains I've ever had the pleasure of being part of in the entirety of my CoX career (Since 04'). I did however respec last night and fled the Primal Pool in favor of Mu Mastery. The added Nrg Resistance, +End // Sapping utility and additional AoE have proven useful. I feel mildly sick at leaving ET behind. It really ought to have been included in Energy Assault IMO (with the unfortunate self-damage aspect lowered or removed). But if we're all being honest, the character feels like it is running a little more smoothly. I average anywheres between 6-11 deaths per ITF. Last nights run saw "only" 4 carpet hugs. Probably too small of a sample but I'm fairly certain that draining their end has helped keep me upright. Part of me wants to try Mind/Nrg/Primal but I don't think I'm ready for another 1-50 +Incarnate marathon just yet.
-
I can't thank you both enough for the input. I feel exceedingly foolish wasting a slot on the +Stealth IO in CJ when it could slot for free in Sprint. Sad I never thought of that. In your opinions would it be more wise to spec into the Mu Mastery Epic pool and focus on sapping mobs with Conductive Aura + Power Sink? The armor is better than Temp. Invuln and I would gain access to Ball Lightning and the Mu Pet (which I heard is pretty good). I will miss Energy Transfer tho. It hit's so frikkin hard, too. Which reminds me... I really love Bone Smasher. Quick to animate, hard hitting and a chance to disorient. I don't want to lose her. I could almost see myself skipping either my AoE Hold or the Synaptic Overload? I like both and I'd miss their set bonuses but I think of Bone Smasher as almost set defining. Perhaps whirling hands is the power to drop? Again, excellent set bonuses but I find myself using the power sparsely. I'll go back and rework the build some and get back to y'all. Again, thanks for the feedback.

Some months back I posted my plans for a melee-centered, single-target specialist Dominator. After 330 hours of play-testing, this was the best I could come up with. Sadly, I'm still face planting with alarming regularity and running out of endurance after 2-3 fights into a given mission (typically +1x8). If any of you have a couple of minutes to spare and want to give it a look-see I'd appreciate it. Well, it's time for another sub-par build featuring yours truly. In the same vein of melee only Elec/Nrg Dominator, Human-Only Melee PB and the world renown Kin/Elec Melee Sapper; I present to you my plans for a gimped Melee Crab Build. As with the previously mentioned builds, I enjoy taking Archetypes that have no good business in Melee and bringing them there to stay. Maybe I suffer from a previously undiagnosed masochistic bent but there's no greater thrill than "arresting" mobs with your bare hands. If any of you out there have the time or inclination; please review this first draft and let me know what or how you'd improve the build within the confines of the melee stipulation. Thanks in advance. My imperatives for the build are: 1. Softcap to all positional types 2. Resistance % 3. Recharge 4. +HP

Hey, I rather like Cross Punch! Especially on any Dark Melee character. Great proc mule as well.

STOP! I can only get so hard.

What is going on here? Can you parse this out a little more for us?
