  1. Why is that? Don't the Psi attacks accept boost range nd range ios and get even more range out of it? Or are they hitting a range cap of some sort? If there is a range cap, it is very very extreme, since I'm hitting stuff I can barely see.
  2. Just to clarify, by extreme range I don't mean merely being out of melee. I mean being so far out that you are beyond their detect range, they run towards you but then walk away because you are beyond their chase distance. It feels like breaking the game playing this far away. And it looks ridiculous hitting stuff that is so far away that you can't even really see it.
  3. Why not take power boost and use it with short circuit? Won't that drain much better?
  4. I reactivated an old level 50 EA/Elec defender I forgot that I had. It drains enedurance much much faster than I expected. I can drawn spawns and keep them drained with minimal effort and with IOs.
  5. I imagine -end on a blaster would be kind of pointless, because you'd probably kill them much faster than you drain them. On a defender, I think it would be much more useful, since damage isn't as good.
  6. I recall back on live that people always said sapping was pointless because unless you drained all end, it did nothing, and enemies could still use all of their attacks. Is that still true? Maybe now it takes some attacks away but leaves the weak ones? I also recall it being said that defenders don't get better end drain modifier than other ATs. Is that true today? I know sapping is now a thing that electric controllers do well, but how about defenders, corruptors and blasters? Are there any sapping oriented builds that are effective at all today?
  7. I have an urge to play a character using Leviathan Mastery; Sharks all over the place. The only thematic matches I can think of are Water/Storm and Storm/Storm on a Corruptor or Defender. Which blast set do you think synergizes best with Storm? And which do you think will look better with the sharks?
  8. Psi/Energy has turned out to be the most fun I've had with a blaster in all my days on City of Heroes.
  9. Other than Psi (longest range) and Energy blast (for the knockbacks), what would you recommend for an extreme range based character? I'm enjoying this so much I want to make more of this kind. I'm guessing /energy is the key. So maybe any primary would work?
  10. I have been playing a Psi/Energy blaster lately and have been having fun blasting at extreme range. Psi is the farthest range blast set. Energy secondary has Boost Range on top of that. I am hitting things at draw distance. Can barefly see what I am shooting at, and they are nowhere near close enough to shoot back. I may be mistaken, but it seems that sometimes they come towards me to attack but then give up and go back. Perhaps I am out of aggro range? Easier to pull off in zones than in missions of course, but in missions there are still some long stretches of space, and its is amusing to fire down a long long corridor. Anyone else play this way?
  11. I agree with this. I actually miss the original blaster inherent where you got more powerful as you got more hurt. Jump off a building and intentionaly get yourself to 1 hp and do godly damage 🙂
  12. I recommend trying Psychic Blast. It has good control and maximum range. I have a Psi/Energy with boost range and I can hit things from across a zone and they never come anywhere near me if I don't want them to. So they can't shoot back. Feels almost like cheating.
  13. I like the visual effects of School of Sharks and Spirit Shark Jaws. Sharks everywhere is fun. I've seen alsmost zero discussion of these powers or this power pool. I'm thinking maybe a Storm/Water/Leviathan? Would that be the best thematic match? Would it work out well in combat? Are there other sets that fit the theme as well?
  14. This yes. And it is especially useful in the earlier game, before you have Fortitude. This power has kept many teams going when on rough content and the tank's health is sinking fast or there is somebody else who needs healing at the same time. "Healer" gets a bad rep on this forum, due to backlash from other games where healing is everything. Healing is not everything here, but it IS something. It is essential in some situations.
  15. Psi has the longest range. Use Boost Range on that, and you can hit stuff at draw distance. Its very funny to see the enemies hit from that far away, with no chance to hit you back if you are hovering high above. I build a character around this concpet and its a very unique way to play. Sniper extreme.
  16. I've been having a great time with an Arsenal/Poison controller. It synergizes pretty well together. I debuff the hell out of targets and the cannon rips through them surprisignly quickly.
  17. Definitely has a big downside, sure. It isn't the most OP way to play. But it is different, and variety is something I seek in this game.
  18. Is Acid Arrow worth taking nowadays? All it does that seems noteworthy is -def?
  19. Not sure. I have nailed them repeatedly and they will run towards me a bit, then give up and walk back. If I alternate who I strike, I can keep firing at a pretty decent rate doing this without any of them actually coming to me.

  21. Been enjoying playing around more with my Psi/Energy blaster, and fighting from far enough away seems to lose the agro too. Is that supposed to happen? If so... this could be a form of defence?
  22. lol i forgot about It. Its ok at the early levels but useless later on. You have plenty of AOE without it, and from within melee.
  23. I dusted off and played around with my Psi/Energy blaster today. Psi is the longest range blast set I'm aware of and Energy has Boost Range. It makes for a very unique playstyle. Useless in many maps, but so very unique on big outdoor maps, shooting stuff so far away that they can't return fire and having them just within draw distance. Has anybody else tried this? If so, did you use his power combo or a different one?
  24. Storm Blast goes surprisingly well with Poison. I hightly recommend. Storm blast's frequent knock down makes being in melee safer. There are no cones forcing you out of melee.
  25. Oh I see. You are valueing number of slots over number of power picks?
