I am opposite of the OP. I get annoyed when people stay in a mission after much of the team has left it. Especially if I am team leader and waiting on the people to exit so I can set the next mission... I also won't wait around all day for everyone to get to mission. I'll start the fight as soon as I think I can manage it, and people jump in as they arrive. If others want to do the same, good on them. That's how my teams roll. I only care about us all being there to start the mission if it is a particularly difficult or sensitive mission (like a mayhem mission etc).

Why isn't there an Empathy Control powerset? We will all feel better if this is added to the game. Tier 1: Lingering Doubt: Ranged Single Target Immobilize: Suggest An Animation Tier 2: Crippling Guilt: Single Target hold: You do an explain or yada yada yada animation and target hangs head in shame. Tier 3: Lingering Doubts: Ranged AOE Immobilize: Suggest an Animation Tier 4: Call Your Mother: Ranged AOE hold that causes enemies to enter the phone animation and call their mothers. Tier 5: Your Father is Proud of You: AOE -acc and -perception as the enemies tear up. Tier 6: Safe Space: PBAOE Phase Shift: Targets go to their safe spaces, where nobody can hurt them, and enter yoga sit Animation phase shifted. Tier 7: Time to Rest: Placeable Field power: Enemies who enter the filed use the rest power. They gain endurance and regeneration quickly but are unable to act. Tier 8: Ego Boost: Toggle +acc: You do the thumbs up animation when activating toggle. Tier 9: Unrequited Love: Pet: Beautiful woman with PBAOE aura on her that causes foes around her to swoon and be disorriented. She does various animations such as turning away, slapping them, etc that do debuffs and damage. I believe this powerset can be added mostly using existing emotes already in the game. Please dear Homecoming Dev Team, you the have Control. Please have some Empathy.

Learned something new today. Mr. G and the Dean/Leanard missions redside are linked. I was totally surprised when Leanard suddenly showed up on a random Mr. G mission. I have done that mission numerous times before and never saw him show up before. Does anyone know what triggered that? Something in the Leanard dialogs no doubt. Maybe random? Are there any other linked missions like this? I saw one where you help your clone and he shows up to help you later. Any others you are aware of. Is there a full list of these? It is a pretty cool concept.

One thing people so often overlook, is that -def powers enable your temp powers to hit. That nemisis staff? It will hit reliably if you have -def deployed. Same goes for all other temp power attacks. This makes all those otherwise borderline useless temp powers you pick up during the game actually useful as mainstay attacks. Earth control has a lot of -def, and a ton of it in QS, making QS good for this reason alone, much less its other uses (slowing them down, keeping them together, etc).

If it is all about knockback, why not do this on a corruptor instead of a defender, so you can get a smidgen of damage added? Do defenders get stronger knockback or greater knockback distance than corruptors and controllers?
-
What do you make of this set as a primary? It has better -res than it would as a secondary on a Corrupter or Controller, right? Some of the best moves are ally only, so that makes it not very soloable on a Defender, but quite effective on a controller who gets a melee based pet, right? Is it great in a team setting?

Ice/Poison is fun. Arctic Air compliments VG perfectly.

Been playing fire/fire Blaster and finally got to level 20 and got the cauterizing Aura... the power that is essential because it keeps end and health up, but wow, that graphic pulsing is annoying and there appears to be no option to minimize it. SO I'm giving up on this fire/fire build. Sonic is pretty well known for being headache inducing. It used to be even worse. The earth control immobilize is obnoxious as are the ice armors, but at least you can turn the ice armor graphic off. Anybody have other graphics or sounds that made you give up on a character you'd otherwise play?

Sometimes on pickup teams somebody says "BRB bio".... and I wonder are they going potty or are they typing up their bio?

I once made a grav/kin controller, just to maximize my racharge, and see how many propel objects I could pump out

Most folks use emotes in this game only while waiting around, for a TF to start or something, but lately I've been having a lot of fun mixing emotes into my attack chain during combat. Yes, I realize this makes me much less effective at actually doing damage etc, but it can be a lot of fun. Changing costume mid-battle can be a lot of fun too. Hitting a nuke and killing everything, quickly followed with the train whistle emote is funny. I have a sleep based mind controller who likes to sleep everything, and then do the sleep emote herself. Do any of you do this? And if so what are your favourite emotes to put into combat situations? Also, I've noticed that hover makes some of the emotes even more fun midbattle (as well as some actual powers).

Psi/Energy is glorious with the ridiculous range. I love killing enemies, who not only can't get near me, but who are at the point of fading in and out of draw distance.

Is this the best power combo for sapping as a defender?
-
Avoided /plant for the longest time because of the visuals, but finally made a porcupine based character, an made it ice. So he's a tundra porcupine. I'm amazed at the control in this combination. At level 8 you can already quasi-insta-hold (two powers used) bosses, something ice/ice can't do until much later in development. Anybody taken this combo to 50? How does it continue to evolve?
-
Went back and played by PSi/NRG again and its just so fun and such a unique playstyle. I kill things that not only can't reach me, but fade in and out of draw distance.

Sentinels are great for new players. You can attack like a blaster, but not faceplant. You don't have to know what you are doing or how the game works in order to survive.

Any advice on doing a support no damage challenge defender build?
Gentoo replied to FrogTheToad's topic in Defender
The ultimate lazy but totally useful team support character is my Ice/Nature controller, with the Oppressive Gloom stun power from the patrol pool. All I have todo is stand there and everything around me is crippled and debuffed. Its great for playing while browsing the forums or sipping your tea. If you really really wanna be lazy, just set yourself to follow the tank. -
Try an ice/Nature controller. Get Arctic Air. Get Entangling Aura. Get the PBAOE stun dark power for your patron power pool. Walk yourself up into a group of enemies. Make some tea. Eat a crumpet. Watch as your team destroy the group you've completely controlled just by standing near them.

So how tall do you guys make your characters?
Gentoo replied to Beef Ninja's topic in General Discussion
I usually make them as small as possible, because it feels like I'm going faster that way. -
Its also the only travel power that you can set "auto-run" to keep flying, leave the room to get a snack and come back and find yourself close to the mission, instead of running stuck against a wall. This is super useful when soloing and switching to other windows while gaming and multitasking.

Is Level 50 your start, your end, or a foreign land?
Gentoo replied to Gentoo's topic in General Discussion
I agree. Duo or Trio is best for me. Preferably characters under level 45 or so, and any random mix is a fun new dynamic. With more than 3 players it starts to get more monotonous for me. -
It is ridiculous how you can shoot stuff from draw distance, and they can't shoot back because they lack the range. It really is overpowered I think. And a way to break the game that people very rarely do. I still advocate Psi/Energy Blaster for this. Does tons of damage from far far far away.
-
Ok lets do it. You show up with your 17 Giant Monsters, and I'll bring 17 Forcefield Generators confused to protect us 🙂

Is Level 50 your start, your end, or a foreign land?
Gentoo replied to Gentoo's topic in General Discussion
That's an excellent point. Whenever I see the build plan threads I kind of zone out, realizing this is a finished character.... and so it isn't one I'd actually be playing 🙂 -
Having taken my psi/energy to 50 now, it turned out being even more interesting and unique than I expected. Yes, I had to blast like a normal blaster quite often due to room constraints, but I was suprised just how often I could break out the extreme range. Long hallways in office buildings happen more often than I remembered. It shocks team mates when they see you snipe not just the next group down, but the group 2 after t hat who aren't even visible yet. And finish them off before they can make it forward to be any threat to the crew. Killing them before they are anywhere near able to shoot back does feel a bit broken. TK blast helps knock them back so they can't advance as quick. For the patron power, I took Mako, because he offers cones, as well as a cone immob. The range on those isn't great so you do have to fight in notmal gameplay range, but they do become very effective.
