I don't post or read people's exact builds, but I had a lot of fun with FF/Water. Remade my old "Mighty Maid" character that way. French maid running around splashing soap on foe and friend alike.
-
How bad/good is this power for a defender? It is primarily about extra damage, yes, so probably very week on a defender? Does it do good end drain to make up for that? Anybody running with electric blast on a defender? Did you take this power?
-
I made a Poison/Electric because that seems pretty unique but haven't gotten to poison trap yet. I am looking forward to seeing how this works out. Poison should also cover the obvious problem of AVs too, which will be hard to drain or keep drained, with poisons powerful single target debuffs. This could turn out to be pretty good.

I don't see many electric blast builds on Defenders. Does anybody take it? Does anybody build a sapper out of it? Kinetics will drain one guy. Poison trap from Poison set will floor endurance. Anybody other ideas for this?
-
Thanks. That's not bad then. Will make use of it since I already stack -acc. :)
-
Clicking on detailed info in my enhancement screen usually gives me stats on powers, but Injection from the medicine pool doesn't give its stats. Anybody know what they are? If I hit a foe with this what is the -acc I get on them? Does it stack? For my solo build on my defender without a self heal I decided to take Aid Self, and with no pet Aid Other is useless, so Injection it is. Is it worth using? Is it worth slotting? I already have a -acc heavy build, so maybe this will help cap out the -acc and keep me safer?
-
I found a great use for Poison. Weaken is one of VERY few powers that does -def without doing -acc. It lets my confusion focused mind controller get the enemies to reliably hit each other.

... aw and here I thought maybe setting it on a x8 for a 8 person team would mean enough baddies for 8 teams of 8 :)

May altoholism has gotten so bad that I sometimes create a new toon with exactly the same powersets (and power picks) and not realize it until I'm at level 20.

Here is a thread to come up with the worst ideas possible, and then find a way to make them work. So... Six slot rest? Mind Dominator working solo. Sleep whatever you fight, pop immediate health and endurance, cotinue. Six slot rest to make this fast. How feasible would this be? How about Six slotting brawl? Where could have ever be useful? Any other crazy ideas that could be made workable?
-
For something completely different, try Mind control. It plays like no other. Its fun to play solo or with a scrapper or two focussed on single target kills, because you can sleep the entire map.
-
Dual Blades but as shining coloured sticks, plus the fireworks aura when you fight. It looks like you are running around with glowsticks during fireworks time. Make the character look as much like a child as possible and there you go. Tons of fun.

I like that you took the effort to do this and will give it a listen.

A great QoL thing would be to mark these contacts in the contact finder as premium contacts or something. Some indicator that they have better stories, cutscenes, etc. I'd rather a new player discover these than run into some of the stuff that was made in the earlier days of COH which were just very generic and sent people from zone to zone for no reason. Same with the task Forces. Those should at some point be pointed to by the game once you hit a certain level.

Whatever you're doing Homecoming Team, keep doing it

Sents just don't feel unique to me. But this is coming a from a player who rarely plays damage dealers and thinks all Tanks, and all Scrappers pretty much play the same.;) -
I don't get why this is so much better than CO

You summed up my addiction perfectly. I am a loner by heard, but this game got me teaming and having a great time. I was never big into super groups, but I really really enjoyed the random pickup groups I'd made to just do whatever content. I loved how I could invite anybody below my level (I didn't want to bother people above it) and they could be useful to the team even if the content was way way above their level. I agree that the game encouraged team work, discouraged personal conflict between players (nothing to argue over in the game), etc. Maybe this is why I was never able to get into any other MMO. That and the fact that the costume creator is so great and its a super hero setting, so you can let your creativity go absolutely crazy. Want to be a french maid who runs around throwing soap at stuff? I did that! Mighty Maid is a FF/Water Defender. Want to be a Garden Gnome? You can do that? Want to be a dog or a cat? You can do that. If you can imagine it, you can be it. Let the creativity run wild! ... Or play some other MMO where you all look basically the same or where your look is changed by your gear, etc. -
Well, you CAN Play a healer in COH... you just have to go out of your way to actually make that playstyle work. It means having nobody else on the team who does buffs, having no buffs, and being pure healing. It can actually be a fun way to play, like a goalie, with absorb pain working double time along with your other heals. The more buffs get involved though, the less that is needed, and if you find yourself on a team full of buffers, you've got little opportunity to play goalie.

You mean the mechanical functions of a set where only three powers gain any sort of benefit from the Dominator's inherent power? One would think that in their mass proliferation of powers, the developers would have considered this and done it already had they a mind to. Unless there's another explanation? I remember a dev saying once that if Illusion Control was ever going to be available to a Villain AT, it would be redone and given to Masterminds, but even that was more work than they were normally okay doing to proliferate a set. I remember this. They were going to make the Illusion stuff into minions. You were going to have Spectral Terror as a pet that followed you around and could be buffed. And Phantom Army was going to be your tier 1 pets.

I like Grav with Kinetics, becuase it turns you into a rapid Propel machine. Stack syphon speed repeatedly, max out hasten, and see how many objects you can put on the board. Fulcrum Shift yourself and those things hit HARD too, expecially if you've contained the enemy first.
-
With Macros, and when Solo on a Mastermind, I sometimes go way overboard on micromanaging my pets. Do you do the same? I'll do things like pull with a single minion, but keeping the rest of them behind a corner, or keep some but not all of them on bodyguard mode (Merc's medic mostly). I've heard some of you have such a good feel for your pets that you get them into particular ranges from enemies so they will use particular attacks? Whats the most hardcore micromanaged thing you've done with your guys?
-
Hurricane may be a lot of fun with Mercs. With Propel based Grav controller it sure is. The Hurricane picks up and flings around the objects/bullet casings.

I wanted this so bad when the devs were still making stuff. I wonder if it could be slapped together with existing powers. The idea is to have the MM not summon pets, but instead use the pet summon buttons to mind control enemies into becoming pets. So your tier 1 lets you take over a minon as a pet, your tier 2 a Lt and your tier 3 a boss. Then you can direct them, buff them, etc, just like they were a pet. Or if that's too OP, then have the tier 3 take over a Lt, the tier take over minions, and the tier 1 actually have some kind of weak pet summon. It would mean you could constantly be changing your MM strategies and build on the fly. You could have your very own Malta Sapper, or Tsoo Sorc, fully under your direction and pulling off strategy. The closest you can come to this now is by being a good mind controller and using confuse and defence debuffing, but there is a lot you can't do that way. Imagine fulcrum shifting a Freak Tank Boss or something like that. Balance may be difficult, but should be possible. The mastermind's own attack powers could be taken from the mental assault sets (ie, mental blast).

Illusion/Traps.... You can rush in and they shoot at your FF generator isntead of you? Does Phantasm's knockback cause you a world of headaches for traps? My first ever character to 50 back in the day was an Illusion/Empathy, and I had a Mercs/Traps MM to 50 at one point, but it has been a long time. Ice/Traps could be interesting. Ice is low damage, but here you would have tripmine and time bomb. And Ice also likes to be in melee, so your FF gen could be protecting your team mates in there. Plus detoggling arctic air is a real problem for Ice/, and FF gen negates that. Same would hold true for Electric control, yes?
-
Does summoning the Traps from /traps alert the enemies to your presence if you have superior invisibility on? Because if not.... this could be crazy.
-
Would Electric/Kin not solo pretty well thanks to fulcrum shifted gremlins? Is is far far behind Fire/Kin in that respect?
