  1. Kin isn't just about increasing your damage, its also very much about increasing your recharge. You can get a ton of recharge, for those slow charging powers, without spending much at all on IOs or sets. So match any powerset to it that has long charging powers and amaze yourself as you get to use them much much more often.
  2. Happy to see I'm not the only dumdum who has done this 🙂 I have done it many times and I laugh each time I realize I did it again. Its funny having not played a character for over a year and totally forgotten about them, since some other times I come up with a great idea for a new power combination and then realize I've already got one at level 40. Good times. Good times.
  3. Today in Extreme Altitis, I just spend a long time going through all my chracters to pool money together and.... I noticed I had a Leve 50, Level 32, and Level 17 Fire/Pain Corruptors A Level 42, level 21, and level 8 Water/Martial Combat Blasters And kept looking and realized I had many more of the exact same powersets at different levels I have Five different Fire/Kin Controllers and didn't notice it. Anybody else experience this? Its surreal when you notice it. Oh and all this... and I never took any character to incarnates. 😛

    /nature?

What are your thoughts on /nature as a corruptor secondary? I had it on a MM and on a Controller and it was powerful. Not sure how that would translate to a corruptor. What would you pair it with?
  5. Getting a VPN did it! YAY! My ISP apparently is a jerk. Now I have a way around it and can play my favourite game again 🙂
  6. I appreciate both of you very much. Thank you for your attempts to help. Sadly, nothing seems to fix this. I'll just have to wait. Maybe I will get a VPN and see if that helps. Switching from windowed mode to normal mode didn't make a difference. This community here is as amazing as the game itself 🙂
  7. In a last ditch effort, I deleted and redownloaded Tequila and the login program. Didn't make a difference. I guess that leaves me with having to check back a few months from now to see if the issue resolves itself (if its a problem at the ISP).
  8. Thanks for this analysis. I've come to the conclusion that if it isn't outdated login software it must be something to do with my ISP. I've had the internet line plugged directly into the computer and every other internet based program works. Download speeds are fast. Firewalls are disabled. The only thing not connecting (or the only thing timing out) is the COH login server interface, and when I tell it to try, internet traffic doesn't change on my end. Game runs perfectly smooth once actually in it. Has to be the ISP I suppose. Sadly not much I can do about it.
  9. I disabled the firewall completely. I can download at high speeds. Put all that on hold so the game can take up full bandwith and it still tries but times out and returns the above message. I thought maybe I needed to replace my client software. I haven't changed it since over a year ago when I first found homecoming and it worked ok then. When I click login and monitor my network upload/download it doesn't change, so I don't think the client is trying to connect sometimes. Othertimes it does so without issue. Weird I know.
  10. Thanks. It must be my network. Game runs very smoothly. Just takes forever to load between zones and on login. I'll try moving the game to another drive.
  11. I've noticed it takes a long long time to log into the server and often times out. I stopped all other modem activity and my connection is fast. Could it be that I need to update the game interface software itself? Tequila loads up the COH Homecoming login screen quickly. But then when I enter login and password it is glacially slow from there. Could I be outdated? I AM able to log in sometimes but not other times. It tries for a long time then often fails with the following message: The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check the forums for current server status.
  12. A nice thing about /rad when soloing (or having envenom) is that the veteran attack powers (like nemisis staff and black wand) will hit reliably and you can use them to solo quite well.
  13. I'm currently working on a Poison/Beam. It works great together. I also have a Poison/Dark. It was great until I started playing the Poison/Beam and realized the /Dark is overkill with the accuracy nerfing to the enemies. Poison + Maneuvers is enough to stop you from being hit hardly at all. Adding dark doesn't show me a noticeable difference.
  14. This has only recently started happening for me. Maybe they released an update to the code? When I play in windows mode and switch windows for a moment (i like to listen to music/podcasts/youtube as I play) the game now often locks up and won't switch back. That or it just drops completely. This is new in the past little while. Anybody else having such a problem or is it my own system?
  15. How would you slot this out lower level? I'm not interested in playing at 45+ but envenom comes immediately. Would you immediately six slot envenom to put procs in it?
  16. I love Grav/Storm for the propel objects being blown around alone. That alone is enough for me to endorse this combination.
  17. How are poison's numbers on a controller? If you are a controller, survivability becomes far far less of an issue.
  18. Storm/Dark is my new love

    Storm Summoning/

I have been running a Storm/Dark and find it excellent. The rooting of the tentacles plus the ability to move stuff around with hurricane makes herding much easier. You can organize the bad guys exactly how you want them 🙂

    Storm Summoning/

Yeah, but the sound effects of Sonic give me a headache very quickly. Sonic on the ears is right up there with thermal shields on the eyes, and least thermal has an option to tone down the graphics. You cant tone down Sonics's sounds without turning the sound off entirely, can you? That would be a great option. We get multiple visuals to choose from for some powers, so why not multiple sounds?

    Storm/Ice

WIth practice, Hurricane can be used to tighten up the mobs and oraganize them for efficient AOEs. If you really want to get super fancy, work teleport into that and teleport around while you herd them up and try to get them all tightly together as possible. Then you can take them all down with Sands of Mu vet power and other super short range aoes and cones 😛 It is a unique playstyle for sure.
  22. Claws were the very first flavour of the month, back in Issue 1. Are you telling me we are back to them so soon again?
  23. I echo this sentiment, except I go even further. I don't care if you contribute anything at all so long as you are playing with the team. I am happy have have a level 5 or 6 sidekicked up to 50 to play the top level content. Its all about the chat, teamwork, and general fun for me. I actually would actively avoid teams built for optimum whatever with a bunch of players keen on mixmaxing and doing something in record time etc. But maybe that's just me 🙂 "Bad" players on pick up groups can actual add challenge to the game that I often enjoy. And new players are the very best thing ever, seeing them see stuff for the first time and living vicariously through them. But all that said.... a mastermind on the team in a small cave with all pets out and I can't see anything or move anywhere... I'm probably not going to want to stick around.
  24. I almost exclusively play Controllers and Defenders because I feel there is a lot of variety in those sets. I've played blasters, scrappers, tanks, brutes, and masterminds, but kind of felt that once I played one, I played them all. There didn't feel like a lot of variety of plastyle in them. So that said, Masterminds.... what are the unique ways to play them? There is the petless MM of course. That's a fun challenge, but been there and tried it. It didn't give me anything new or different to do or try, just a gimped out defender really. Anybody have any other ideas? I don't care if my character has great trouble fighting blues and greens, or if there is no or little XP to be gained, or if others laugh at my choice. I just want to try some new gamestyles because everything starts to feel so much the same. My last discovery was the Mind/Poison controller plus TP Foe, which allowed me to get entire missions full of enemies to kill each other except for the very last guy at the end who I tried to find creative ways to kill indirectly. A Kin/electric defender was another fun build; sapper. So was an Illusion/Traps controller (ten million pets without being an MM). Maybe a zombies or ninjas MM with heavy recharge on the resumon power so I can shoot minnions like bullets of constant cannon fodder? Is that doable? I know traps (was it?) can even let me make them explosive? Other ideas? Standard bots/FF stand there and destroy everything with ease while you eat a ham sandwich doesn't interest me.
  25. Mind/Poison is a lot of fun for making them fight each other. Envenom is one of the very few powers that does no damage (won't wake sleepers) and has -res and -def without having -tohit. Its perfect for setting up puppet shows. They will hit each other and hard. Don't use Weaken for the puppet shows, because it is -damage and -tohit. Great finishing off the last enemy though, and great for AVs and bosses etc. Cripples pretty much anything. Add a whole lot of sleeps in, and add TP Foe for the fun of it, and you can get entire missions worth of enemies killing themselves off. It gets even better when you get status causing enemies. I've had multiple Tsoo Sorcs TP'd along with me healing me, Avalanche Shamans doing hilarious things, enough sky raider FF generators to make me untouchable when fighting that AV in the Faultline arc. The witches in Croatoa are absolutely hilarious when you get them all confused and fighting each other and hitting each other reliably. Yes, playing puppet master through a mission means you get hardly any XP, but who cares? XP is easy to gain when you want it. Making them all kill each other in funny ways is good times!
