  1. We were talking about this on the Discord general channel earlier today. In making advancement so easy, it could potentially turn off players, not keep them playing as long if they don't have to trudge uphill in the snow both ways to get their characters built how they want them. Of course, this game doesn't depend on monthly subscription feels to keep going, so maybe not keeping players as long isn't necessarily a bad thing. :)
  2. I remember when you could either have a belt or a tail...and as a result, all the cat-peoples' pants kept falling down. (All right, so that last bit is just my own headcanon...)
  3. Also, the Alpha level shift is the only one that affects regular game content. The others only come into play during Incarnate Trials, which have you facing level 54 and 55 enemies.
  4. Pretty much. Remember NOT to buy XP boosters from P2W, or that and the no-XP will cancel each other out and you'll get nothing.
  5. Actually, Enhancement Boosters are more profitable, merit for merit.
  6. How do you convert the ATOs into other ATOs?
  7. Share your favorite (and least favorite) memories of the way CoH used to be. I remember when... ...everyone frantically tried to obtain as many Accolades as possible as early as possible, because if you exemplared below the level you got the Accolade you lost access to its power. ...people frantically buttonholed everyone they met trying to see if someone had one of those darned badge missions that they somehow missed out on at a lower level. ...it used to be possible to herd the half a map worth of Warwolves into a dumpster at one time. ...the Positron TF was this ungodly slog that nobody ever wanted to do, and Synapse wasn't much better. (Synapse still isn't that much better...) What do you remember?
  8. Most rare recipes are vendor trash, with the exception of a relative few, like Luck of the Gambler, that do still command high prices. I think that no matter how low prices get, there will still be room to turn a profit on conversion crafting, just because buying an Attuned IO can be less expensive than crafting and Attuning one yourself, but still pay more than it costs to craft and convert an Uncommon one to it.
  9. And if you outlevel them, you can run through them from Ouroboros.
  10. You do know Paragon Dance Party is back, right? :)
  11. Also, place bids well ahead of time for several hundred Enhancement Converters at 100K each. They'll fill over time and you'll have them on hand when you need them, instead of having to pay 125K to 150K each. That's 25 to 50 million Inf per 100 savings...
  12. Maybe you want to craft it for yourself. (If you don't plan to Attune it, in which case it would be cheaper to buy it pre-crafted through the market from the Attuned category, at least.) Anyway, why does everything have to have a point?
  13. And it's great for those of us who're willing to put in 15 minutes a day of effort and never worry about how much anything costs ever again. (Seriously, read my guide. :) )
  14. Right. No more 2 billion Inf PVP recipes. No more people deciding to corner the market on Luck Charms and force players to pay hundreds of thousands of Inf for them. Everything is a lot more affordable to everyone, which means less frustration all around. (Plus, it's remarkably easy to make money by converting. See the guide that GM quote above is pulled from, which I wrote... :) )
  15. The Level Shift comes from having a Tier 3 Alpha. The other Tier 3s also provide level shifts, but they only take effect within Incarnate Trials, like the Behavioral Adjustment Facility. Being a level 50+1 is a little confusing, because as far as the game is concerned, you're still level 50, so if you go mission notoriety +0 you'll get missions full of blue mobs. You also need to remember, any lower-levels on the team will only be sidekicked up to level 49, so mobs that con white to you will con orange to them. Depending on how low they actually are and what kind of Enhancements they're slotting, they may not be able to hit at all mobs that don't give you any trouble! As for how much XP it takes to level in vets, I don't even notice, really. It goes pretty fast. I leveled 3 times during the Quaterfield TF the other day.
  16. What do you call the plot of land where adolescent dark Kheldians sneak off to hang out and smoke? The Nictus teen patch.
  17. Also, if you know what you're doing, you can leverage these changes to the market to make yourself hundreds of millions of Inf.
  18. Team Teleport is one of the most useless powers in the game. There's never been any real point to it, and it only seems to serve to annoy people. A teleporter could far more usefully port themself where they need to go and then recall the team one person at a time, than try to carry them all at once over a much shorter distance. Hence, I'd like to suggest that this power be replaced with a version of the vet reward power Assemble the Team. Give it a 10- or 15-minute base recharge time, reducible by recharge enhancements and Hasten. That would at least give people a reason to spend a slot on it, but keep it not as good as Incandescence.
  19. I've been playing a Fire/Fire Tanker for a while, got her to level 50, happy with her, but my primary build is kind of a "scranker" (or maybe "tapper")--just 4-or-5-slotting most armors, with complete 5- and 6-IO sets in my various attacks. I cap out at about 80% smashing/lethal resistance. Does anyone have suggestions for a good super-tough defensive Tanker build for her alternate build slot? Assume I'll be using Attuned sets everywhere they'll fit so she's as good a Tanker as possible as low as possible. I'd like to cap smashing/lethal, and have as good a Defense rating as I can as well. I'd like to know what powers and what sets to go with. Thanks in advance!
  20. If you're going to want to Attune the IO, though, it's usually more cost-effective to buy it that way, given that the Market Attunes for free but it costs 4 million Inf to do it yourself.
  21. In order to use my Windows computer with the Steam Link on my bigscreen TV, I usually have my desktop set to 150% magnification so that everything is visible at TV distance. Most of the games I play work well with this setting, filling the screen properly in fullscreen mode. But when I installed and ran Tequila, the game client screen was much larger than my screen could fit, and I had to revert to 100% and restart before it worked properly. I'd really like to be able to keep my desktop set to proper magnification for the Steam Link, but still be able to play CoH. Is there any way this could be fixed?
  22. Doing the final mission of Maria Jenkins, with that big lava pit in the room, one of my teammates fell in it and died. My Fire Tanker immediately jumped in, too, and I said, "I can't help falling in lava with you." (Then I lured the AV in and melted him down. Good times.)
  23. There are certain Uncommon IOs in certain ranges that are 100% guaranteed a conversion to a Rare IO, because there are exactly two sets of that particular type in that particular range—an uncommon and a rare. At that point, it's not a matter of "rolling the dice" to get a rare IO. The only dice-roll is a question of which rare IO it converts into—and it's only 100K to 150K to convert it again if it turns out to be something that doesn't sell well. I don't think it will ever become economical, by comparison to that, to craft rares directly instead.
  24. "On the gripping hand" refers to Larry Niven's novel The Mote in God's Eye, which involves an alien species called the Moties, who have three hands--a left hand, a right hand, and a middle hand, called the "gripping hand." In the book, the expression "on the gripping hand" is used to extend the "on the one hand...on the other hand..." construction to cover three possibilities instead of two ("...but, on the gripping hand..."). It is sometimes used by SF fen in the same manner.
  25. Now, Tankers are meant to be tough to kill. They give up a little in the way of damage capability for it, but something like a Fiery Aura/Fiery Melee Tanker offers a good balance between survivability and damage output, with a damage type that tends to be less-often resisted than smashing or lethal. (Except for those stupid Hellions. Damn those Hellions, anyway.) They're a bit squishy at low levels, but so is everything else. Once you level up a bit, you'll find you're a lot harder to kill, plus you can do a lot to increase the survivability of everyone else on your team if you put a little study into proper methods of handling aggro. I got so annoyed at ending up on so many pick-up groups that didn't have a good Tank that I finally went ahead and became a good Tank just so I could be sure I'd never be without one. :)
