  1. Can anyone tell me how to get a code editor rather than a WYSIWYG editor? I want to do some editing on my guides to get rid of the extra spaces the conversion included, but if I copy and paste stuff into Emacs it loses the formatting. I need to be able to see and paste stuff with the BBcode intact.
  2. Yeah, I don't think you'll do more than break even at best if you put too much money in these. That being said, if you let the ATO and booster and catalyst sales subsidize your purchases, you'll break even plus get a lot of other nifty stuff for effectively free. Experienced, Windfall, self- and ally rezzes, special Inspirations, etc.
  3. Clearly, you have far more interesting meetings than I do.
  4. I belong to a supergroup shared with other people, so I can't necessarily rely on anything I leave in storage staying there for the long term. But I've got a thousand character slots, so I just made a mule character. (The supergroup is a cat-person group, so I just named him "Cat Mule," made him a Huge body type SS Invulnerability tanker with all body sliders at maximum. If he's gonna carry a bunch of stuff, he's gotta be big and strong! Like a mule! :) ) Then I just alt-invited him, and put the stuff in storage long enough to have him go in and take it out again.
  5. Wasn't talking about my P2W guide, I was talking about the conversion marketing guide I linked in the post above. Which includes complete instructions, as I said.
  6. Even when Gaussians go for over a million, they tend to have so many more sellers than buyers that you're not going to get your money any time soon. I tend to use those (and the Malaise's Illusions that Perplex turns into) as seeds for rare-conversion lottery tickets. One of the nice things about the lottery ticket approach is that as you price check recipes, you get a pretty good sense of what does and doesn't sell, so you can get some ideas of things to try for intentionally via category conversion.
  7. Hey, you're giving away some of the best secrets here! :) One other point worth making is that level 41 recipes can be worth doing, too. They cost a bit more to craft, but there are fewer junk sets. For example, 41 Reactive Defenses has a fifty-fifty chance of becoming Luck of the Gambler...and if it doesn't the first time, it's got the same coin flip chance next time you try. Also, they use the higher end salvage types, which level 50s will get lots of. Another lucrative level range with guaranteed one jump to rare conversions is 10-14. And at level 10, you could end up with a Karma or Steadfast, if you convert across uncommons, which can then be converted within set to Knockback Protection. Dropped a link to this into the appendix at the end of my own guide, since your information is a little more advanced and goes well with my discussion of the basics and getting started.
  8. If you actually read my guide, you'd see I addressed the influence matter. [*] Go to P2W Store. [*] Take free Inner Inspiration power. [*] Making sure you have free Inspiration tray spaces, fire it off. [*] Go to Freedom Corps person standing nearby selling Trainings and sell the Inspirations to them. [*]Ta-dah! You've got Inf! Not a lot, sure, but more than enough to list some of the Enhancement boosters you got for the merits from getting all the badges in Atlas for 1 Inf each, which will get you enough Inf to buy an inexpensive Uncommon recipe and crafting materials to begin conversion. Try actually reading the guide, huh?
  9. Really, you get so little Inf at the lower levels even without 2XP that counting on it as a source for buying anything seems like a recipe for frustration. You don't need to rely on Inf drops to make money. You can start earning millions before you've even killed a single enemy, by crafting cheap Enhancements and converting them to more expensive Enhancements. I go into how to get started in this guide, including instructions on how to bootstrap yourself up from 0 inf 0 XP to making millions within an hour of when you log into the game.
  10. I'd like to see Abandoned Sewer Trial on the list, myself.
  11. What exactly does "stop sending all buffs" do?
  12. How about being a little more specific? Do you want to do ranged or melee damage? Be tough or squishy? What else do you want to do? As SwitchFade pointed out, your basic description applies to...well, nearly every AT in the game.
  13. You can keep track of in-game chat channels and private messages with Discord? How?
  14. No, they're being ignored by some people for being bad at joking around, there is a difference. As John Scalzi put it, "The failure state of 'clever' is 'asshole.'"
  15. If you're talking about the Controller ATO sets, you can only have the complete set slotted once per character. You can break them up over a variety of powers if you'd rather get just the 2-slot bonus three times, or the 2-slot bonus and 3-slot bonus twice, but the later bonuses are good enough that I don't see the point. ATO, Winter, Purple, and other unique sets such as Overwhelming Force can only be slotted once each per character. But ordinary Uncommon or Rare sets can be slotted as many times as you like. Note that you can only benefit from the same size of any given set bonus five times per character at most, though.
  16. As many converters as people go through, I have my doubts that satisfying "every" bid is even remotely possible for one player.
  17. I don't get what all the hate is about for herding. The level of herding that it's possible to do with the 17-mob aggro cap should be remarkably quick. When I do it, I don't even bother trying to gather more than one spawn; I just grab one spawn and run around a couple corners with them so they bunch up. That only takes about five or ten seconds.
  18. I think Vengeance is actually a pretty nice power pick, for several reasons. [*]The LotG mule ability. [*]Doesn't need any slots, so you can distribute more slots to other powers. [*]Well, duh, you don't want teammates to die. Guess what? They will die. And sometimes when they die, it makes the team weak enough that tough enemies can overcome them. (Especially if it's, like, the only Tanker who just went down.) A Vengeance buff can help everyone else stay alive long enough until that deader's back on their feet. Yeah, sometimes people self-rez faster than you can use it. But those times they don't, it can be worth having. And if you ask people beforehand not to rez or self-rez until you can venge, it can help with that. It's also useful to have the Resuscitator temp power from the P2W store, so you can rez people yourself when you're done.
  19. The build was conceived mainly as a pure teaming build. I like playing in teams and being able to support them well, you get more XP that way (I started playing this character Saturday morning, and by Sunday night I was level 50 with my Alpha unlocked!) and given that a lot of Kinetic's powers are most useful on others rather than yourself, it seemed the logical choice. (I did swap in Eye of the Basilisk in my Char, though. And also had it in Cinders until I hit 50 and could purple out.) Perhaps I'll do an alternate build for soloing, getting rid of the Leadership pool in favor of taking the Fighting pool instead. (Honestly, it didn't even occur to me. I mainly think of Fighting as a thing you put on your Brute or Tank to finish capping their resists or defense.) As for what I was going for, mainly perma or near perma hasten, but also some nice regen, accuracy, and travel speed buffs. Though to a certain extent it was just purpling out stuff I already had. Just my good luck that most of those purples had large buffs of the kinds I wanted. I know I don't really need some of these powers, but in some cases I couldn't really think of anything else I wanted. Assault adds a nice little chunk of damage and doesn't need any slotting beyond a 50+5 Endreduc in the main slot, so it was a decent enough choice. As for Inertial Reduction, it also didn't need any slotting, and it gives me an alternative if my Siphon Speed should miss or there isn't an appropriate enemy around to use it on. Granted, not so important now that so many jet packs and such are available, but I like jumping. For the same price, I could just have taken plain old Super Jump, but I figured I might as well have a version I could give to those around me, too. I'll definitely check out those other procs. Thanks for your feedback!
  20. The Alpha shift applies to all content at which the Exemplar system grants you access to level 50 powers—so, exemplaring to level 45 and up, or running task forces/trials like ITF, Eden, or Abandoned Sewers that top out at 50. The Destiny and Lore shifts only apply to Incarnate content, like the Incarnate Trials or the Dark Astoria zone and arcs.
  21. Would anyone care to give me their thoughts on this build? Disregard the level numbers at which Enhancement slots are placed, because this is intended to represent the character at 50 no matter how I get there. Assume all common IOs and purples will be +5, and all others will be Attuned. I'm most interested in knowing if I'm making any slotting mistakes, whether it was a good idea to skip Ring of Fire and Smoke, and whether if there's anything better I should put in place of the Steadfast and Zephyr Knockback protects. The 4 mag protect I'm getting from Overwhelming Force should be enough by itself—it is on my Dark/Dark Controller—but I'm not sure there's necessarily anything better to replace them with. Should I just go with a 50+5 Damage Resist in Increase Density? 22. Is there any way to adjust the level of an Enhancement to 50+5, or to indicate that a set is Attuned?
  23. Given that this iteration of the game is no longer being run by a corporate entity, why should we have to keep installing the better maps, with badge and gravity geyser locations, separately? Why not add those maps to the game itself, so they come standard with new installations?
  24. Q: How is a wide-AoE Destiny power like a nude beach? A: Because everyone's in the buff!
  25. So, basically, use a Pocket D teleporter in the middle of the Terra Volta respec trial, when you have a coolant belt on hand, and talk to Null at that point. (Or the Abandoned Sewer Trial with its temp power weapons, or any other trial that's saddled you with a temp power...) Or immediately afterward when those temp powers haven't expired yet, I guess.
