  1. That's a great idea but I'm not sure I want to do that with my MA Scrapper. :)
  2. If I want to pull a sound out of CoH to enhance it (glowy sound, I'm looking at you), would I use a pigg viewer to do that? Do you recommend one in particular?
  3. I think from launch, moving entities always pushed non-moving ones. This counted for NPCs and PCs. I'm not sure how else you could handle it aside from WoW's approach of just letting people move through each other. Which brings up even worse issues IMO, like MOBs running through you yet still somehow attacking you. If you auto-turned to attack in WoW like you do in CoH it wouldn't be so bad, but being able to be "inside" someone else might mess with that anyway. I only really notice shoving when everyone's crowded around an NPC like a trainer, or I guess when the entire team initially zones into a mission.
  4. That Martial Arts focuses mostly on kicks. I used that to construct my main's backstory (his hands are not registered as lethal weapons, but his feet are). The entire Super Reflexes powerset. I know it's thought to be underpowered and quirky. I don't care.
  5. Aha, figured it out. It's a form of user error. When I set up my game account, I typed in a password without really paying attention to the character limit, which I think is 16 characters. My password was 17, but the system only accepted the first 16. Normally when I sign into the game, I'd type all 17 characters, and once in a while I'd hear that "whoom" sound that indicated I hit the limit, but other times I never noticed it. I think I just chalked it up to me typing so fast. All this time I was typing an extra unnecessary character that wasn't being accepted. When I added my too-long password to the text file, the entire thing would get pulled into the password field, which would then be flagged as incorrect. It still let me delete characters beyond 16, so I could back out that last character. So the solution was to just use my correct not-too-long password in the text file and everything works.
  6. Ok, I grabbed Notepadd++, nice program. It's still happening, and with "Show All Characters" enabled I see no mystery spaces or anything after the password. Lines 1 and 2 end in CRLF (line 3 is blank). I even tried changing it to just LF to see if that made a difference. Same behavior. For whatever reason CoH is adding an extra character of some kind after my password (but not my username) when importing the text file. I appreciate your help but I don't expect you to diagnose this for me. I'm just posting it in case anyone has happened to see the same behavior and discovered a cause.
  7. Hm, I'm doing the same. I wonder if it's some Windows 10 configuration? Although that seems unlikely. Thanks for taking the time to try it out. I'm using the default Notepad. Should I try Notepad++?
  8. True enough, but if for sake of healthy debate we assume they were both sampled at the same time, that’s 40X difference. If not statiscally predictive, directionally it still says a lot. Good comment If Steam Charts is to be believed, CO averages 150-200 players online at any given time, and is seems to be decreasing lately (wonder why?).
  9. This is great, except it seems to not be working for me. I added the extra line break (and I tried it without, just to be sure), and CoH puts an extra character in the password at the end on the sign-in screen. I can't see what that character is but I'm guessing it's some kind of line feed or carriage return. I can delete just that character and then the game lets me in, which is a workaround for now, but why would it see that character?
  10. Already exists. Open notepad, and type your login, on the next like your password and another line break at its' end (you need to do that for it to read in properly). Save it as resume_info.txt in the same directory where your homecoming.exe is located. Oh, wow, thanks. These forums aren't the best at alerting us when people respond to threads, I thought that one had long gone dark. I'll try that out. Yeah, I just tried that and it's cool that it spits it out in chat, but I was hoping for a persistent clock off in the corner somewhere. Thanks, though. Yeah, I was hoping more for mission text and store items, things like that. I followed Healix's advice about changing the game font, which helps, but my old man eyes have trouble sometimes... Absolutely appreciated, thank you!
  11. In no particular order... [*]Password QoL: Please provide an option for the game client to either remember my password or, if security won't permit it, an option to flag me as authenticated for a period of time (even just a day would be nice). Failing that, maybe an option to un-mask my password so I can see what I'm typing? [*]Sign In QoL: If I do mistype my password, and the alert pops up, hitting "enter" should make the alert go away, not attempt to sign me back in with the wrong/mistyped password. Further, after closing the alert, the password field should become auto-selected rather than the username field. [*]EULA: Once I've manually clicked Accept for the EULA, I shouldn't see it again (or at least need to click past it) until it changes. That will prevent me from assuming nothing's changed, for one thing. Failing that, I should be able to hit "enter" and trigger the Accept button. [*]Character Select: Would it be possible to show level progress (in addition to level) on the character select screen? That might not be possible given the way the queries work, but I thought I'd ask. It would be nice to go in and "top off" an alt that is close to leveling. [*]In-Game Clock: Is there any possible way to create an in-game system clock that displays the actual (local) time? Blizzard games do this and it really helps with personal time management. It could even be a macro like how /showfps 1 just prints the framerate to the upper right. It doesn't have to be a nice UI, at least for me. [*]Buff Pets and Stalkers: Would it be possible to make buff pets (wisps, etc.) for Stalkers be hidden when the Stalker is? It makes them essentially useless for that AT as they constantly draw aggro. I would be okay with the Stalker not receiving the buff while in that state. I guess the same could be said for any AT using Concealment. [*]Buff Pets and Flying/Hover/Etc.: Would it be possible to let us summon our buff pets even while hovering or flying, as long as there's a nearby surface to "cast" the reticle on? [*]Minmap Zoom Scale: Is it possible to set the game to remember your map zoom scale from zone to zone? [*]Default Camera Zoom: Would it be possible to set a default camera zoom scale? Or at least have the game remember your camera zoom between login sessions? I know I can set it with a macro but it's just one more thing to do each time. [*]Font Size: Is it possible to add a setting to scale the in-game font, mainly for chat, vendor items, AH stuff, and so forth? That's what I got for now. I'm sure most of these aren't easy, and some of these issues have plagued the game since day one. Please feel free to add to this list.
  12. You can also click "Find Contact" in your contact window. It'll give you some options, and even offer to teleport you to new contacts.
  13. Well... well... I know someone who was in the pre-launch beta so I'm more of a veteran than you... by proxy! Or something...
  14. By the same token, nobody cares if you don't care that they're a veteran. ;D
  15. Just noticed that the autocorrect changed how I spelled your name, Healix. I corrected it. You are an awesome poster, clearly very knowledgable, positive attitude, and gracious to others. And unless my memory is faulty (and it often is), Healix was an active poster on the old forums. The name and avatar look familiar.
  16. Why, they're roundo-sloto-matics, of course!

    Fly Poses

    Awesome, thanks!

    Fly Poses

I'm having trouble getting fly poses to work. While flying or hovering, I'll type /e flypose2 or whatever, but nothing happens. Am I misunderstanding how that's supposed to work?
  19. Except for the legs. The CO designers don't get how animal legs on a bipedal creature would work. CoH got it right. Not too long before Homecoming went public, I fired up CO out of desperation for a good superhero MMO. I was shocked at how schlocky the graphics were. The game just feels cheap.
  20. It's all a Nemesis plot. Everything is a Nemesis plot. Unless it's a Nemesis Pot or Nemesis Mop. Or when he's tired and it's a Nemesis Plop. Last time he made a movie, it was a Nemesis Flop. Please, just Nemesis Stop...
  21. I am not mocking your viewpoints or your suggestions. I'm explaining why adding things to a name is not always sufficient. Being unpleasant to me is not warranted. Ha, this is what constitutes a "fight" on CoH forums. We're the Canada of MMOs. ;D
  22. I mean the old . I loved the original Storm Kick back in the day, it was so over-the-top. I would love to be able to select it as an alternate animation. Less attached to the original Crane Kick but why not?
  23. My main disappointment with CO was that it felt too reactive to then-current MMO trends. A superhero game doesn't need to be structured around a crafting-based economy. At the same time, it needed to feel bigger than CoH, and it felt smaller. The devs did make some interesting decisions. Like how flying started off slow, but if you kept going you'd pick up speed, and then eventually you'd kick into a high-speed rocket mode. It kind of combined CoH's hover, fly, and afterburner into one power. Cool idea. Not sure it was better than having them be separate powers but I appreciated the attempt. Also charging up powers -- interesting idea, fun to play with. Worth it? Maybe. I found combat to be a bit repetitive. You had energy-building attacks and energy-spending attacks, and at least at low levels it just felt like you had this obligatory cycle through them. Tap-tap-BOOM. Tap-tap-BOOM. I mean, ok, cool concept and it might be neat in CoH for a particular powerset, but it was how everyone worked in CO. Other ideas were more duds. CoH's teleport is fast and fun, despite being vulnerable to lag. Whum-whum-POW and you're in a new place. Chain it together and it's pretty cool to both use and watch others use. CO's teleport was more like you go intangible for a couple of seconds and fly to your new place. It didn't feel like teleporting, it felt like flying while invisible. And it didn't even really look like teleporting to someone else. You're also not as locked into your combat animations as you might think in CoH. As a Scrapper main, I often queue up an attack, run by my target, and I'll spin in place and hit him (yes, "locking" me in the animation for a second) and then keep moving. I don't remember if you could queue up attacks in CO but CoH's ability to do so not only mitigates or even negates the "animation lock" penalty, but actually makes the combat feel more fluid and (to my mind) faster. I can queue up attacks and I actually have time to watch my character execute them. (One thing that bugs me in WoW is that I have to keep my eyes pinned to my power tray; I never get to see my character fight!) All in all, though, I'd say CO just played it too safe. They tried to make a superhero MMO that fit in with the playstyles you see in games like WoW. CoH isn't afraid to break the rules.
  24. Agreed. Might be interesting to tweak the effectiveness of recharge reduction enhancements, but I'm not sure I'd support global mini-hasten. And I have hasten on my main. Frankly I only use it for boss fights or if we get unexpectedly overwhelmed. And I'm not even into IOs much yet.
  25. Of course. A horse is a horse? Of course.
