Let's see, I started with I2 back in 2004, played literally hundreds of alts until 2012, then have played at least 50 or so new/recycled characters since the Homecoming launch in April (I was on Bree before it was nuked, then on Torchbearer, then moved to Indomitable when it opened to avoid the queues, before it became the PvP server), so... YES, I've really tried playing without Hasten. I must admit that I have been able to "wean" myself off of Hasten on many of my builds, but no, not all of them. There are some that could be fine with just 20% more recharge so that I could drop Hasten entirely. And there are others that will keep Hasten forever.
-
So it sounds like the best compromise is: Add 20% +Recharge to Swift in the Fitness inherent pool. Nerf Hasten by 20%, for a base recharge rate of 50% +Recharge. Reduce the base recharge of Hasten by 20%, from 450 to 360 sec. (Check my math on that, please?) (Nix that: the global would do that automatically.) That way, everyone gets a global recharge buff across the board, but those who want to keep Hasten can do so without any ill effect, and those who want to drop Hasten can do so without penalty. Isn't that what I was basically asking for in my original post? Does that mean I win? 😋

Any one pool or power that becomes a universal requirement for most builds, like the original Fitness pool, probably indicates that it should be "elevated" to Inherent status, like the original Fitness pool. By becoming a "must have" for a majority, it shows that there's a fundamental issue with game mechanics that needs to be addressed (such as it was with Stamina). Such "must have" powers also become a form of penalty or tax, in some regards, because they force players into taking a power that might not really fit their character's concept or theme, simply to maintain viability or maximum efficiency. In many cases, Hasten is the only power picked from the Speed pool for many characters, which ties up one out of a maximum of four total power pools allowed. There are builds where I'd prefer to take something out of other pools, but cannot, because of Hasten.
-
But that one-power "dip" comes with a hefty "tax" in the form of burning one entire power pool out of a maximum of four allowed. Most of my builds that have Hasten have only Hasten from the Speed pool (I'm not a fan of any of that pool's other powers). If I could skip Hasten (and I frequently do), then that would open up an entire power pool for my builds. Yes, please!

Either way works for me. Thanks for being a good sport. -

I'm glad my crazy and selfish suggestion sparked the discussion and had some impact, even if it does get shot down. Cool! -

Now I'm jealous. 😫 -
You didn't have any free tailor tokens? *mind boggled*

Yeah, but he was gone to the Americans.

My understanding is that Marvel does not/cannot own the name "Thor", because of it's long history as a public domain character. However, they can (and have) trademark(ed) "The Mighty Thor", and its specific likeness of the character: white dude, long blond hair, winged helmet, blue suit, red cape, square hammer. Consequently, someone creating a character named "Thor" is perfectly legitimate, as long as he doesn't have the same look, origin, powers, etc. As long as this new Thor is sufficiently different from The Mighty Thor, Marvel doesn't have a case.

And I disagree with you that "power creep" (in and of itself) is a good reason not to do it. If it were, we'd all be playing an older version of the game. Power creep started to become an issue well before the game shut down. How far back should we go?* (*edit:) If we're going back to avoid power creep, let's go all the way back to i3, before ED. [I'm only half-joking.] -

Hasten can be skipped with IOs in some, but not all, builds. Just because you can't see how it would make a meaningful change doesn't mean that I can't, either (I believe it can, for some of my builds). I usually oppose unjustified power creep as well. I just don't think this particular ask is completely unjustified. It might be insufficiently justified, which is a fair cop. I agree that a constantly increasing power curve is not good for the game's balance. I'm not asking for that in this case, or else I wouldn't have posted in the first place. But if you think that adding a smidge more recharge to everyone contributes to constantly increasing power curves and puts game balance in jeopardy, then that's a legitimate argument against it. Point for your team. +1 to your suggestion that we increase everyone's damage by 1.7%. For the sake of game balance, we should also increase mob damage by 1.7%, too. 😉 -

Thanks for looking out for me, I appreciate it. Wait, no I don't. How can you possibly know what will or will not satisfy me, or for how long? While you're at it, would you care to tell me which god I should worship or which candidate I should vote for? I'm certain you feel qualified to tell me that, too. Geez, can we discuss the topic on its merits, please? Thanks! -
Add a smidge of +Recharge to inherent Swift?

My argument for why it should be done is that it might allow some builds to forego Hasten, which allows for greater flexibility/diversity in builds for some characters. What's your argument against it, other than "no, I disagree with you"? -

So you're arguing for no changes or improvements ever? Maintain the status quo, indefinitely? -

Is our game ruined yet? Isn't Rebirth's entire argument against Homecoming that we've ruined the game by making things too easy? At what point does it become too easy? Who gets to decide that? And is a few percent more recharge really the straw that breaks the camel's back? -

At what point do we stop? When the accumulated changes actually tip the scales and break things. You're giving the tired old "slippery slope" argument. -

I'm not asking for "perma everything, zero downtime". I'm just asking for a smidge more recharge, so that I can forego taking Hasten on more builds. There are builds that don't need it, some that do, and some that shouldn't have it, but need it. It's the third use-case I'm trying to address.
