  1. To elaborate, I usually play new alts to around level 25-30, equipped with common IOs, to get a real feel for them. Any sooner than that and I'm not sure if I've got adequate information to make an informed decision. But if I don't like them by level 30, I'll probably never like them, and they get deleted or transferred to another server.
  2. Because you can equip level 30 common IOs at level 27. Level 30 IOs are the functional equivalent of a +1 SO. If you don't want to wait that long, wait until 22, and equip level 25 common IOs, which are the functional equivalent of a -1 SO.
  3. Your wiki-fu is better than mine! I concede this contest to the rightful victor.

  5. Yep, that would be the "interesting" part of combining both KB and Repel.
  6. Are you talking about "Blazing Blast" in the Fire Blast primary power set on Sentinels? If so, it's one of the target status effects baked into the power. According to Mid's Reborn, Blazing Bolt has a Mag 3 KnockBack and a Mag 8 Repel (along with a Mag 4 Hold for 0.61 seconds). KB and Repel are different effects, which Blazing Bolt combines for interesting results. The KB-to-KD procs in Overwhelming Force and Sudden Acceleration do apply to the KB effect in Blazing Blast; however, they do not apply to the Repel effect, which is different.
  7. Wait until you get to level 27 and can slot level 30 generic IOs. You might see a marked increase in performance.

  9. I wish we could revert to the previous versions of Stealth and Invisibility, except for two things: Just remove the movement penalty from Stealth. Just reduce the end cost of Invisibility. I liked everything else about those two powers as they were before, and I don't think the recent changes add much else. And I absolutely loathe transparent Stealth: are they ever going to fix that?
  10. One tiny little caveat about hovering melee characters: if you use /follow (I have it bound to my F key) to approach your targets, your avatar will stop *just short* of melee attack range, so you may have to scoot forward a bit before your melee attacks will trigger. Unfortunately, this is not predictably consistent: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And the not knowing until the attack fails to trigger is absolutely maddening for me.
  11. He thicc tho.
  12. I dunno: I don't PvP.
  13. Another idea just occurred to me. Since Disney made their fortune on a model of appropriating public domain characters, how about an SG/VG of public domain characters that specifically don't look their Disney equivalents, and who are in a never-ending battle with [an unnamed American conglomerate] over being appropriated by them? I think it would be hilarious to read bios about super-heroes/villains who are constantly fending off legal attacks by an army of faceless corporate lawyers instead of fighting/committing crimes. 😋 (edit) The SG/VG could be named "Defendants of the Public Domain" or something like that. (edit) "Faceless Corporate Lawyers" would also be a good VG name. 🤣
  14. Agreed. I was merely replying to the OP's post, which seemed to be addressed to the community at large, rather than the GMs. *shrug*
  15. Agreed. Or we could lighten the workload of the Homecoming GMs by simply asking: "Is this trip really necessary?" It might save everyone a lot of trouble and heartache by nipping it in the bud.
  16. Normally, I'd say that this would be okay if they didn't look like the Disney versions (see also: other threads about Marvel's The Mighty Thor™ versus public domain Thor). However, that would kind of defeat the purpose of the OP's original intention to derive inspiration from the Disney characters. But why bother poking the bear at this point?

  18. I've had melee Regen players tell me that they wish they got the Sentinel version of Instant Regeneration instead of Instant Healing. I think that one change would go a long way to improving melee Regen.
  19. Given the recent updates to the CoC, Homecoming's efforts to legitimize their relationship with NCSoft, and Disney's proclivity for litigation at the slightest provocation, I'd recommend shelving this idea for the moment. Pick a different theme for inspirations. Heck, just pick a different source for inspirations. There's a limitless number of fictional universes in the public domain: choose one of those, instead. Better to be entirely safe than sorry, at this point.
  20. People are focused on Converters because they're always useful, whereas the other types of merit salvage are of limited utility. One can only catalyze an IO once, or boost an IO a maximum of 5 times, and one has a limited number of IOs per build to catalyze or boost. Whereas with converters, one can endlessly shuffle IOs to get what one wants to keep or sell. That makes them a commodity with a high demand. Of course, commodities prices are more volatile as supply fluctuates. There are times when Converters just don't sell as well as Boosters or Catalysts; conversely, the opposite is true, as well. That's the "trick" behind playing the market: monitoring supply/demand and timing actions accordingly.
  21. Originally, I did have only 4 pts of KB prot from the universal travel set slotted in SJ, but I kept getting knocked back/down anyway. That's when I decided to respec into Acrobatics on my regular content build.
  22. The trouble I had with Water was that every power is useful, so I didn't want to skip any of them. The same is true with most of Willpower, which could make for very tight build. I hope you have a better time of it than I did.
  23. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Acrobatics offers 8 pts of KB protection while each IO proc offers only 4. So you'd need two IO procs in two different powers to equal Acrobatics. At least, if I'm remembering correctly. I could be wrong. Also, I've never had an issue with KB in any of the AE fire farms: it's only an issue when I run my Fire tank through regular content. That's why I trained Acrobatics in my standard build, but not my farming build.
  24. But it's a good complement with SJ if you also want Acrobatics for KB protection.
