To each their own.

So little? I'm at +102%. My primary rotation (first 4 single-target attacks) recharges in under 6 seconds: Sniper Blast, Power Burst, Power Blast, Power Bolt. And the primary purpose of Power Bolt is Force Feedback: 33% Chance for +Recharge, which procs fairly reliably, adding another +100% recharge for 5 seconds. I rarely wait for any attack to recharge, except Nova. In order to take Hasten, I'd have to drop the Concealment pool, which would cost me a little defense, regen, and a few HP. Definitely worth considering if I felt slow, but I don't really feel that way.

issue 26 Patch Notes for September 10th, 2019
Rathulfr replied to Leandro's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
I play a level 50+3 Energy/Temporal Blaster as my main, and this has not been my experience. All of my attacks appear to animate properly, except for the occasional Power Burst, when my body doesn't move so it looks like it's bursting out of my crotch. Personally, I find this off-putting. Hilarious, yes, but off-putting, as well. But it doesn't happen every time. -
See my post on the first page, above.

And Energy Melee

Good point! I'd prefer to see all of Super Strength's attacks buffed and Rage nerfed accordingly, instead of the accidental/incidental recharge buff crash penalty.

The first line is from Proverbs, but the line I quoted is Abe.* (*: first attributed in 1931, so he probably didn't really say it, but he still gets credit because it's consistent with his sense of humor)

"... But removes all doubt when he opens his mouth." - Abraham Lincoln (One of my favorite quotes)

Sentinels have very few melee attacks: their attacks are mostly ranged (except for the PBAoEs).

Whatever, man. It's obvious you're beefed with him, and now it's personal. It makes you sound like the bad guy here, not him. I'm out.

Yes. He posted his Sentinel build, if you scroll back. He also posted a Blaster build, when I asked him for it. The original point of this whole thread was "sentinel vs blaster", so I wanted to see what he was using for comparison. And he provided both. It seems like you're laser-focused on the Fire DoT thing, which is a minor thing beside the point of the thread. And the more you post, the more unhinged you sound. Just give it a rest, man.

Obitus, I find your post unnecessarily hostile. It seems like you're going out of your way to insult @modest and calling him a liar. Unless you can prove your assertions that he's being intentionally deceptive, you're just being slanderous. He might have misunderstood or misrepresented his findings, but that's a far cry from accusing him of falsifying his data. That just crosses the line, man, and it's not cool.

I was just about to suggest the Archery/Tactical Arrow Blaster.

I sure did: but that's okay, because kids don't know better. I loved comic books as a kid, and I spent countless hours drawing my favorite heroes. But when I got older, I started drawing my own heroes. I learned that there's more satisfaction and joy in my own work, rather than ripping off someone else's. I learned there's value in my own creativity and effort, and that I should respect the creativity and effort of others. Eventually, I came to learn the importance and significance of intellectual property, and why it needs to be protected. That's part of the process of growing up. That doesn't make me or my opinion better than anyone else's. And it doesn't invalidate the opinions of others. I was just describing how I feel when I see other clones. Am I wrong to feel this way? Probably. It makes me a judgmental prick. Add that to the hypocrisy and pile it on with the rest of my flaws. I'm the chief of sinners, as the apostle Paul once said.
-
I also have one homage character, a Water/Poison Corruptor named "Duff-Man". I created him as a joke, and I fully intended to delete him, because I despise clone/homage/parody characters. I am sick and tired of seeing the umpteenth Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Superman, Spider-Man, etc. Every time I see one, I feel nothing but contempt and disgust with the lack of respect and creativity. Personally, I believe that clone characters should be disqualified automatically from any costume contests. I really hate clone characters. Yet I really enjoy playing Duff-Man. I love the build, I love the gold & white effects that make the water attacks look like beer, I love throwing out oddball Duff Man quotes. So I haven't deleted him yet. I guess that makes me the biggest hypocrite ever. Guilty as charged, pot meets kettle, etc. That said, I doubt Matt Groening or Fox are going to come after Homecoming for my creating and playing Duff-Man on a pirate game server.

They're almost as good as WebMD doctors!

You're mostly right. Mostly. The difference is that in your example, my distributing copies of your work cuts into your profits -- I may not be making a profit, but I'm definitely undermining your ability to profit from that work. I'm cutting into the sales of that work, which is definitely infringement. But that's not the case with fan-created art, which ostensibly, is what we have here. If I draw a picture of Iron Man, and make 5,000 copies of it, and give it away for free, I'm not undermining the ability of Marvel/Disney from making a profit from their drawings of Iron Man (or any other kinds of media). Can Marvel/Disney sue me? Sure: but suing someone isn't hard, and it isn't the same thing as "shutting me down". Worst-case, their suit might prevent me from distributing my drawing of Iron Man, or drawing Iron Man, or drawing Marvel/Disney characters, but it won't stop me from drawing altogether. The same principle applies here. Homecoming is facilitating fan-created art in digital and animated form. And it does so in no way that prevents other copyright holders from from their ability to profit from their work. The same is true of DeviantArt, Reddit, Imgur, or Facebook for that matter. There's all kinds of fan-art on those sites: and those sites profit from them indirectly, all without infringing on the rights of other copyright holders. If DC or Marvel or any other copyright holder wants to go after anyone, they'll probably go after those before they bother with piddly little Homecoming. Could they if they wanted to? Absolutely. Would they be right? Definitely. But would it actually shut down the servers? I doubt it. Worst-case, Homecoming gets a C&D, and they have to do the same thing that NCSoft did: crack down on offending characters. If they demonstrated due diligence in trying to prevent abuse, they'd be covered, legally. They might have to pay for legal fees and/or a settlement, like NCSoft did. But the game would go on. Frankly, they're on shakier ground with NCSoft for hosting the game without permission in the first place. If anything gets them shut down, that would be it. Player-made clones of copyrighted characters should be the least of anyone's concerns.
-
Actually, you didn't say anything about the law. You said: "I would hate for the game to be shut down because of people using copyrighted chars, it was strickly enforced during live for a reason." The game cannot be shut down because of people using copyrighted chars. It can be shut down for infringing on NCSoft's copyright of its intellectual property, which is being used without permission. But that has nothing to do with players creating clones/parodies/homages. The prohibition against people using copyrighted characters didn't have anything to do with players using them: it had to do with NCSoft profiting off of them. When the game was live, it was a commercial enterprise, with its own copyrighted characters. Making money off its own characters is okay: making money off of someone else's is not. In order to keep making money without penalties or licensing other copyrights, NCSoft had a responsibility to make sure they weren't allowing the abuse of someone else's copyright. Homecoming is not profiting from the use/abuse of someone else's copyright. In fact, they're not profiting at all, nor does it appear that they want to do so. Consequently, they aren't infringing on anyone else's copyright, because they aren't profiting from the use of those copyrights (which is what copyrights are actually for: to protect the ability of the creators to profit from their own creations). Homecoming is more analogous to sites like DeviantArt, which allow artists to post works under "fair use" rules. The artists there frequently post drawings of copyrighted characters, and are allowed to do so, as long as they are not profiting directly from doing so. They can draw Superman or Iron Man all day long, but they can't sell those works, nor any mechandise using those works, because those copyrights belong to DC and Marvel. Only DC and Marvel (and their licensees) are allowed to profit from those works -- they have the "right" to "copy" those works for sale. When a Homecoming player creates a clone character (as uncreative or tacky as it may be), they are allowed to do so under fair use, because the player is not profiting from that, nor is Homecoming. Such characters are considered homage or parody, which is protected, as long as they don't try to make money from playing that character.

Thanks for the Blaster build. What about the Sentinel build? I want to make sure we can get data sets from both.
