  1. BTW: "Knockup" = "Knockdown"; they're different names for the same effect. So both powers in the screenshots prevent (10000% resistance = effect blocked) KB, KD/KU for a period of time (12 and 15 seconds, respectively). In order to prevent KB but allow KD/KU, the Knockup resistance would have to be removed from those powers.
  2. I disagree with you. I don't find them either redundant or game-breaking. If they were redundant, nobody would play them. If they were game-breaking, everybody would play them. Neither is the case, so neither is the case.
  3. What should be in the next patch? AFAICT, the OP was misunderstanding how the new snipe works, and reported that as a problem (when there isn't a problem). Is there a problem with the new snipe?
  4. It seems to happen to me about 5% of the time. I have it set to auto fire on some of my characters, so that I'm always buffed. Once it happened while I was in RWZ in a Rikti cave surrounded by Rikti. They were not fooled. 😒
  5. QFT. In fact, one of the original ways to mitigate KB (before KB2KD IOs) was to toss out an immobilize first before hitting with a KB attack. That's still a method used by lots of folks.
  6. I am the voice actor for all of my male characters, of course. I'm an amateur actor myself, having done community and volunteer theater for almost 40 years. For my female characters, it would depend. I love Tara Strong, so she'd probably be perfect for most of them. I also love June Foray and Tress MacNeille. But my main villain, the evil Wrongbow (Archery/Tactical Arrow) would have to be Grey Griffin, the wonderfully malicious Vicki from The Fairly Odd Parents.
  7. The nefarious "They": one of the worst villains ever.
  8. I made an Energy/Energy Blaster named Knockback King with the intention of slotting for KB. But then I got distracted by another alt. Maybe we should team up? 😊
  9. It is optional: if you don't want knockback, don't play a knockback set. Or, optionally use Overwhelming Force and/or Sudden Acceleration IOs to convert KB-to-KD. The question isn't whether or not to knockback: the question of this topic is whether or not to change the KB-to-KD proc of Overwhelming Force to a global, instead. Based on the discussions so far, there seems to be a lot of support for the idea. However, there is also some objection to the idea, based on some sound and valid reasoning. Finally, the HC team has indicated that they have no plans (at this time) to make the suggested change. It might merit further discussion, but that seems to be the current status.
  10. It's bugged on my Blaster and Sentinel, too. It not only doubles the radius, and is fully transparent, but it also fully suppresses defense when in combat.
  11. The defense is also suppressed 100% while in combat, which is not the way it's supposed to work. It's supposed to work like Combat Jumping, where you get a constant couple of percent defense (the value depends on your AT). Defense is supposed to suppress 100% on Invisibility, not Stealth.
  12. Yep, it's bugged, AFAIK. In addition to its doubled-radius, it's also fully suppressing the defense, which is not what it should be doing. I'd prefer to have Stealth reverted back to its previous functionality, except remove the movement penalty.
  13. Thanks for clearing that up, @Leandro, I appreciate it! That said, there's definitely been a lot of discussion and suggestions about KB-to-KD conversion options. Are you guys considering anything beyond the KB2KD IOs in Overwhelming Force and Sudden Acceleration? If so, would you be comfortable telling us about them, or at least, telling us about what you think about the issue, in general? Thanks in advance for your input.
  14. I just logged on to my Energy/WP Sentinel on Justin, where I have OF 6-slotted, and I can confirm that the KB2KD IO is not a global. I went to PI, found groups of even-con mobs, and knocked 'em all over the zone with every attack except Explosive Blast. I even completely deleted all of my OF IOs, and 6-slotted a newly-generated set to make sure I got a "fresh" batch. (edit) Just to make double-extra-secret-sure, I created a whole new Energy Blaster from scratch, leveled and equipped him with OF 6-slotted, and re-tested in PI. Same results: OF KB2KD is not global. (edit-edit) See @Leandro's post below.
  15. First: Where was this change announced officially? This thread was the first I heard of it. Second: Your facts are not "facts". It is your opinion that KB is the worst secondary effect. It is my opinion that KB is a fun and useful secondary effect. Facts are indisputable: opinions are not. The facts are these: CoH was designed with a few power sets that feature knockback as an intentional secondary effect. If the devs had wanted to change these to knockdown, they would have. Instead, they opted to leave them as is, to avoid fundamentally altering the experiences of those who choose to play them. Those who don't like knockback sets can play other sets, and the devs even accommodated that by creating new sets with knockdown instead. The Homecoming team is welcome to change that if they wish, but I don't have to like it. If it turns out that that I have to give up 4 points of KB protection to keep my build, I will. It won't kill me, and it's a small price to pay. It's not the end of the world. But I'm not being unreasonable to express my opinion on this subject, register my disagreement, and offer my feedback. Thanks for the lively discussion.
  16. I'm not sure I agree with you on that. In fact, I'm pretty sure I completely disagree with you on that. Besides, "optimal" is an entirely subjective definition. Optimal for what? Damage? Control? Concept? Laughs? I can pretty much guarantee that your definition of "optimal" is almost entirely unique to you, and definitely not universal to everyone.
  17. Does that toggle apply to all attacks? If so, then that's no good, unless I can turn it off and on while in combat, so that my single-target attacks do KB, and my AoEs do KD. And even then, I'd probably want to /macro that, so that the toggles are triggered when I fire the attacks, e.g.: /macro Nova "KBtoKD true$$powexecname Nova"; or, /macro PB1 "KBtoKD false$$powexecname Power Bolt".
  18. I actually like OF just the way it is, thanks. I considered other sets for EB, and decided that I wanted OF. It works for my build as is. I find suggestions like this too cavalier: just because you might do things differently shouldn't mean that I have to do things your way. That cuts against the grain of one of the fundamental benefits of the game: there isn't only just one way to build a successful character in CoH -- even a character with the same primary/secondary as another player's.
  19. I don't think you understand the issue. It doesn't matter if the KB protection is offered by Karma or Steadfast Protection, because I don't have a slot to spare for either one. The issue is that I want to keep the single-target KB in my other 4 attack powers, but change my AoEs to KD. Right now, I accomplish that with a complete set of Overwhelming Force in Explosive Blast (a targeted AoE), and a single Sudden Acceleration in the 6th slot of Nova (a PBAoE). If the OF KB2KB IO is changed to a universal global, that changes all of my KBs to KDs. So that means I would have to remove the OF KB2KD from EB to restore the ST KB in the other 4 attacks. But that reverts EB to a KB attack, too. To convert that to KD again, I'd have to put a SA KB2KD in the sixth slot of EB. So EB still has 6 slots: 5 with OF, and 1 with SA. By 5-slotting OF, I lose 4 points of KB protection, which I can't get back any other way, because the 6th slot is still allocated to EB for SA. I get the same Sophie's Choice with Nova: keep the SA there for KD, or lose the KD to move the 6th slot to a defense or resistance power for Karma or Steadfast Protection. So here are my choices: lose KB in single-target attacks, lose KD in AoE attacks, lose 4 points of KB protection, or lose a slot of something else in defense or resistance for 4 points of KB protection. I don't see the upside of my going along with a universal global KB-to-KD conversion. I'm not gaining anything from the suggestion, so I'm politely registering my disagreement and declining to support the proposed change. However, if the suggestion were changed to make the universal global KB-to-KD conversion apply to AoEs only, I would support it. Heck, I'd love that, as it means I could remove SA from Nova, and gain back the 6 slot bonus effect from Superior: Avalanche (a minor bump to typed defenses).
  20. How convenient of you to selectively edit my paragraph to remove the second sentence, which was: "Perhaps if the suggestion was to make the KB-to-KD proc apply globally only to AoEs, I'd go along with it." I believe that was my alternative suggestion, which is not exclusively argumentative.
  21. You first suggestion is the same as the OP's, and the second one is already the case: the Sudden Acceleration KB-to-KD is already a non-unique non-global -- it affects only the power into which it is slotted. I use the SA KB2KD in Nova, and give up one of the bonus effects from Superior: Avalanche. I'd have to do the same with Explosive Blast, giving up the KB protection bonus from Overwhelming Force. Consequently, I could not simply re-allocate that 6th slot to the Karma KB protection unique global. Knockback is a feature, not a bug, of my chosen AT's primary power set (Energy Blast). It's one of the things I like about my character, and makes the game fun for me. Knockdown is certainly a reasonable alternative, and I don't begrudge anyone who would prefer to use it, but that's not what I want. I feel like I've been pressured enough to change my AoEs to knockdowns in the first place by all the Energy Blaster haters out there. Now you want me to change my build again? No thanks. So when all is said and done, I still have to /jranger any suggestion that involves universal KB-to-KD conversion. Perhaps if the suggestion was to make the KB-to-KD proc apply globally only to AoEs, I'd go along with it. But I'm sure someone else will have objections to that, too.
  22. My Energy Blaster build has OF in Explosive Blast. The suggested change would convert all my other ST KB attacks to KD, which I don't like. If I remove the proc to restore the ST KB, then I lose 4 points of KB protection bonus from the OF set.
  23. QFT. I like my single-target knockbacks and my AoE knockdowns, as is, thanks. I like having a choice: please don't take it away.
