imx most 'griefing my teammate' powers are effectively checked by warning the person they'll be kicked from the team if they keep it up. WoW is the biggest exception to this I can think of and that's because of a truly massive playerbase along with a depersonalized cross-server groupfinder that turns party-building into Xbox Live Matchmaking; there is no real community, so someone dedicated can just choose to laugh at the consequences. -

I've heard it said that English is about as intonation and stress-heavy a language as you can get without being formally a tonal language like Mandarin. Not being a linguist myself, I can't confirm that, but tone is something we always have to read into the words one way or the other. In any event, I am sorry for assuming malice where there was none! -

I'm very sympathetic to all of that, and it's a big reason I don't see myself using a global switch on a blaster, corruptor, or Defender. (Sentinel is another kettle of fish; Dom i could see if i was paired with a primary that negates KB most of the time under some build circumstances.) Super Atom kinda made fun of it coming in, and I get why, but also I really have seen wonders come from well placed KB! And there's just something uniquely satisfying about good use of geography in a fight. But all the same I do get why people keep asking; Energy Blast is the main offender and it's not a well designed set; it adds insult to injury to see Water do it better with better slotting options. It's not easy to get high value out of it, yet it's the most iconic blaster power down to having Kirby spots. Whether it be some powerset redesigns, new IOs, or some option I haven't thought of, I think it's a natural request that isn't going to go away until it's addressed somehow. -
I don't see a reason to treat the prestige variants differently. I think it helps solve a number of problems; in addition to dealing with the topic issue in a way that i think is kinda intuitive (I won't say super obvious), the main reason to use sprint right now past the lowest levels is Stealth IOs. This would aid land based builds, particularly melee, with combat movement.

I'm thinking of the difficulties in carrying a whole person and also fighting -- unless it would put us in an Only Affecting Self state, which would be even worse for dealing with ambushes (although it'd add a touch of immersion at least).

Mostly because those solutions create a different kind of problem: larger technical workload. I'm not necessarily for a global KD switch, though I am more for it than I was two years ago. What KB really needs is: For KB to have value beyond forcing animation time (which KD does nearly as well with fewer downsides). Choosing what this value should be takes design effort since you're implementing a new force multiplier support sets and attack sets with KD will be able to use much more effectively if you are not careful. Implementing the above is not a trivial technical feat based on what I've seen from people who've looked at the code. Energy Blast dramatically overhauled; it is the only damage set designed around true KB as its main form of utility, which means it's hit by the current IO tax the most, and is the most popular choice for people who want the visceral fun of throwing people around. I'd love to see this on the horizon, but also I don't think it's realistic to ask for and expect it. -
Aside from the technical issues that would probably encounter (unless they chose to simply have no visual effect, and assuming we sidestep missions where the escort is scripted to do something while being escorted) That doesn't really make sense for most of us who have characters that lack super strength?

Suggestion: Kill the end cost on Sprint. Make it so having Sprint on nulls the effects of Group Fly on you. This can be turned off at Null the Gull if you really need to be able to sprint while floating.

Null would be a poor solution for this, as this is the sort of thing you'll want one mish but not the next. Killing forced translucency is nice but more of a rider benefit here.

This game is badly balanced, a goal mostly abandoned in favor of allowing conceptual freedom. Even in more tightly designed games, balancing things primarily or substantially off of the top end performance of the tiny fraction of players who are very build-polished AND specialized in a particular powerset is a design choice. Not necessarily a design choice that a lot of people think is good, and it's not done a lot unless the top end has a competitive scene. I don't have strong opinions on this topic though, just insomniac and bored. -

Knockback is a core function of the game, and the stance in the past has been that Knockback should be redesigned to be more desirable rather than just turning KB into another static stun. Which I am for, in theory, but I have no idea when that's going to happen. In some ways a global KB to KD effect would be an improvement (slots saved, for sure) but it would also really expose how hilariously basic and bland Energy Blast really is, and potentially create a toxic environment for people who want to keep some KB powers -- so I don't think it'll happen. I've been pushing for better KB IOs and sets in order to better facilitate this (link in sig) but I suppose there's not much interest in that. -
Hence the proposal to just be able to cancel stealth without losing the other benefits. It seems the most technically feasible, reasonably intuitive gameplay suggestion.

Yeah, this came up on my devices blaster while slow walking Dr. Aeon two feet a minute to avoid dying to Rikti ambushes a few missions after having to slow walk Arnold Decker through Arachnos ambushes don't really want to drop 3% defense and other benefits in that situation!

For many powersets this also entails giving up other benefits of the powers that may be a very bad idea to remove while facing ambushes, Stealth commonly grants defense.

Martial Assault for more than just Dominators

Blaster secondary Martial Combat is already very similar to Martial Assault, so I wouldn't expect a port. And wouldn't hold my breath over Sents getting assault sets either though a lot of people (self included) do agree that Sents would be interesting with them. -

Flight Control is the primary benefit of evasive maneuvers -- you can just not take the power if you don't want that.

This would grant a toggle power, zero endurance, that when activated suppresses all effects that grant stealth as well as translucency. Signed, all of my characters with stealth powers in their builds trying to do an escort mish. The translucency killing is just an RP bonus. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Why? So that escort NPCs can find you when you want to be found. Q: Can't you just turn your stealth power off? Builds that actually are built for stealth derive several advantages from stealth powers, often defensive bonuses. Turning off the stealth power directly weakens your ability to fight, which isn't great for ambushes -- and several story missions combine escorts with ambushes. Stealth-built characters are not the same as your non-stealth character that grabbed a stealth IO and put it in a sprint or travel power they toggle off. Q: Would this be technically feasible? It would require a minor rewrite of all stealth powers in the game to allow a conditional. The dev team has previously expressed interest in fixing the mutual exclusivity problem of stealth powers; this would be a comparatively small tweak to add on top of that one. Q: Why not use a Null the Gull setting? You frequently move between mishes where you want stealth to escort mishes. Returning to Pocket D between mishes just to toggle this isn't fun. Null is hacky and a solution of last resort. Q: Wouldn't it be better to have NPCs with super perception and decent movement speed? That would be the most natural option in my eyes, but I believe it would require changing every NPC individually, which is a tedious task over the whole game. Possible, but I suspect more trouble than it's worth since it would doubtless encounter edge cases where it breaks things. Frequently This-is-a-Comment-and-not-A-Questions I would prefer to fireman's carry NPCs. I guess? I don't tend to play physically strong characters so I'm not thrilled about that concept. I also believe it would face far worse technical challenges.
