Can't play Homecoming because Beta is downloading?
GamerKate replied to Rinwen's topic in General Discussion
Or at least add a ‘Click here if you just want to play live, you don’t need to wait for the beta to download, Hero!’ To the Homecoming Splash Screen. I have a reasonably fast internet connection, so I only had to wait a few minutes, but i didn’t realise until I was told :D MCM -
I also want to thank the devs for enabling me to once again live in the same City as people like PK, seeing old comrades again has been one of the lovely things about Homecoming. MCM

I created a global channel for players who like to create and play in the MA system. It’s called ‘MA Arc Finder’, after the old one on Live. Join! Spread the word! See you there! :D MCM

Another vote for the market as it is here. I hated the markets in other MMOS i tried after CoH. MCM

Listen to Venture. Venture is wise. MCM

Currently there is no obvious way to differentiate the many arcs published in the MA between arcs meant for farming and arcs meant for story-based narrative fun. I should say that I am a story-hound, and I don’t enjoy farming arcs, but I absolutely support players who want to make and play farming arcs in the MA. On Live, there were tags people would put in their arc descriptions to aid searching for the type of arc they wanted: [sFMA] was used for story arcs for example. When searching you could search for [sFMA] and any arcs that had that in the description would show. This workaround was arrived at by the players in the MA forums. Some of the arcs now in the MA still have this. At present, with many players not frequenting the forums, it would be great if there was an ingame way to inform players and creators alike that an arc is either a farm arc or a story-based one. Here’s my suggestion to the devs: Add as a default entry in the field meant for the description of an arc something like this: “Write your description of your arc here instead of this text. This is what players will see when they browse the published missions in the AE. If your arc is intended for farming, put ‘[FARM]’ in the description, and if it is a non-farm story-bases arc, include ‘[sTORY]’ in the description. That way, players can search for ‘FARM’ or ‘STORY’ and they’ll see the kind of arcs they want, and your arc will find the right audience!’ Both types of arc-writer will then have to read it and delete it all to write their own description, and both types will be aware of the tags (the devs could decide on different tags ofc, in case someone has “Ace Reporter Scoop Malloy needs help with a big story!” or “omg hero, here’s a humungously complicated intricate mystery unfolding on Old MacDonald’s farm!” etc lol). Then we’d need some way to inform players who don’t create, but just play arcs,to search in that manner. Perhaps there is some suitable text field that could be tweaked for this. This would allow farmers and story fans to find what they want, and avoid what they don’t want. MCM

I think it could even be simpler to implement than that - if they simply added a paragraph to the default empty field that’s used for the description of an arc like eg his: “Write your description of your arc here instead of this text. Then we’d need some way to inform players who don’t create to search in that manner. Is there some suitable text field that could be tweaked for this? MCM

Is there a global chat channel dedicated to the MA? I’m still trying to remember how lots of things work in the game, I can’t even recall if global channels are cross server or not. I do remember there were a few channels for Story-focuses arcs and suchlike. If there isn’t one, maybe we should create one? MCM

I have a lot of my old reviews stored, if you like I could post the review I did back then. If you’d rather I wait till I’m higher, I can do that. Or I can do both! :D MCM

My main (and my global) is probably my most ‘amusing’ toon name, for a given value of amusing of course :) There are some quality puns in this thread, good one V! (And nice to see you again after all these years, I recall we had a few disagreements about things but I’m sure you feel as happy to have CoH back as me, and I’m v happy to see old faces again) MCM MCM

Ooh I definitely reviewed this one back in the day! :D MCM -
Great poster! And it rings a bell, for sure, I wonder if I reviewed it too back then. I’ll check when I get home from work. And I’ll play it again when I have a toon at an appropriate level :D MCM

Yeah, if there was a simple ‘is your arc meant for farming?’ query in the system for every arc, and arcs were then split into two tabs in the search, Farm and Story, everyone would benefit. Every few times a session when i’m In game, I broadcast a brief heads up about what’s SFMA means, hopefully the word can spread at least a bit. MCM

I can’t stand farming arcs personally, but they are still content and if there’s an easy way to segregate them from the narrative arcs in the AE then good luck to them and the players who like them, is my stance. CoH is a big umbrella :) MCM
-
I will most certainly play it :) MCM

Zolgar and others, thanks for the tips :) We love exploring so the explo badges - 5 merits - booster -profit! route seems great for us :) MCM
-
You’re right, but there is something to be said for doing the content ‘natirally’ As you level, rather than for eg PLing to 50 on DfBs etc and then parking in Ouro and going through every arc in a drop-down menu. MCM
-
Zolgar, thank you for this guide, but do you have any advice on getting enhancements at low levels which doesn’t involve zooming to lvl 15 in such a short time and bypassing the learning experience of playing ‘normally’ through lowbie arcs and getting powers one at a time etc? I’m a returning vet and I like normal progression, and my gf has never played before so we’re avoiding he DfB like the plague. MCM

"Toxic" Community?.. My thoughts, feel free to add your own!

Yeah, on Reunion everyone seems pretty chill. The worst I’ve Encountered is someone saying ‘I’lll chat wherever I want to thanks’ When i asked them to stop discussing imperial vs Matrix measurement systems in Help, and another dude who told me to piss off when I asked him if he could turn hot feet off in the AE building. Apart from that, i’ve Been drive-by healed, got onto chatty happy PuGs, had some hats about cool costumes and generallyI feel right at home :D MCM -
Brit living in Poland here, I like story arcs, not grinding trials etc. I am also a badge-hound, and I have altitis :) I love the AE, both for writing and playing other players’ creations (and have a review thread on the MA forum), and I’m super excited to be able to play through all the awesome content in CoH/V again :) MCM
-
You mean you want to create content? Er, like we can in the AE system? MCM
-
So the current status of MA makes NPCs speak their first lines of dialogue early. I gather and have noticed it’s happening sometimes upon zoning into the mission. Has anyone found a suitable workaround yet? Perhaps the dialogue can be set to trigger from something else? I haven’t had much time to fiddle with the MA yet, but maybe we could use this thread to discuss solutions. MCM

Debt! Lol I forgot about debt! I AM REBORN!!! It’s like being 15 years younger all over again! :D MCM
